The sheer magnitude of shock I received once finishing this book is what compelled me to leave a review. On one hand I wish to beat the author with the blunt end of an axe for the ridiculous pacing and horrible fleshing out of the characters/story, but at the same time congratulate him for a compelling story. The fact of the matter is that this book grabs you by the throat and demands to be read (a rather good quality for a book imo) even if you react negatively to its flaws. I guess this speaks volumes for the potential of this book, even if
...
it had been wasted by the author.
It certainly is a challenge tbf, reading the entire thing i mean. Without the context being revealed at the end, you end up thinking 'What the fuck am I reading?'. And perhaps the joy of understanding the whole thing at the end of the novel comes from the absolute absurdity the author places the reader in. Whatever the case is, this book plunges the reader into a chaotic. apparently meaningless, and confusing world, where it seems both the protagonist and the reader were meant to struggle to find the answer. And perhaps this was the ultimate goal of the author, be it slightly poorly executed.
My advice before attempting to read this first-draftesque novel, is to pay close attention to the details. Although few, you will realize they add up, which adds if anything a little bit of depth and flesh to this novel that requires it desperately.
