This show caught my interest from some scenes I saw on Twitter, especially for its comedic side.

The first episodes are really cool—the character introductions and plot are really well done. The boys attend a mixer, while the girls are dressed as boys because they work in a host club. Everything revolves around this, with plenty of jokes about it, and they’re honestly really funny (the "Prince at school" that fangirls try to identify, the super cute relationship between Asagi and Fuji, and how innocent he is). The plot is very "fluffy" and cute.

The problem for me is one particular character: Hagi. His confusion about his ... feelings could have been interesting if it didn’t drag on for so long. His entire arc is about wondering whether he’s bi/gay because he likes a girl who dresses as a boy.

Another issue is how slow the relationships progress (if they even progress at all???). There isn’t a single real confession in the entire anime, and no official couple, even though you can tell from the first episode who is meant to end up with whom.

The anime could have been wholesome if these problems were fixed. Also, I think it would have been better for this type of anime to wait for the manga to be completed and adapt everything in one season. That way, the pacing would have been faster, avoiding getting stuck on a character’s story (one I don’t even like) and finally allowing some character development.

We’re not even sure if there will be a season 2, since this first season adapted 6 out of 8 volumes. So IF there is a season 2, it will take a loooong time.

This season should be sponsored by a tissue brand, I have never cried this much while watching an anime in a while
Everything is coming to an end and the chara development are top tier : redemption or no, you see the final purpose of Villains and Heroes coming together
Of course, we've seen this scenario in many anime but the villains are not left aside and you see their true feelings here (specially Himiko)
Also, the animation on this season is way more dark and mature than the previous ones. It's part of the context (big battles) and the death of certains characters but omg did it ... hit right
I cannot wait to see the next and final season, I'm curious to see the end and read the manga but anime does it differently with voice acting, music and everything else
I really recommend watching this anime but especially this season if you are a manga reader only
