beginning note: I'm not a review person really, but seeing how so many people wrote lame things in their reviews about Shiki I just had to write something. Really, most of the reviews that have small scores are saying that the plot is not original and it's Higurashi rip-off. Well if you're asking me, those people haven't really seen the show, and the Higurashi rip-off proves it -_-'
oh and there are small spoilers so if you don't like spoilers be sure ti finish Shiki before reading this review.
Story 9:
I personally love it. At first I was lost with all those deaths but soon after that
...
the mystery started to reveal to me. I find Shiki very similar to Stephen King's Salem's Lot. That is the only place where I've seen some real vampire action before, and that's why I give the story 9 of 10. I'd say that compared to Salem's Lot, Shiki is much more deeper and emotional. Those who have seen Shiki and really understand it, will see my point. The first part is about all those creatures in the night but somewhere near the end, we have the villagers drown in fear, and when human is afraid, it can be more scary than any vampire out there, I really love the fact that human ugliness and darkness are shown in the story. Yeah we have Vampires, but they don't kill of pleasure, they kill because they need to feed themselves, they kill because they want to make the village their base where they can live isolated..basically they kill for survival. Humans on the other hand, when they'll find out the truth will decide to defend the village, and that's ok so far 'cause it's logical...but we do have scenes where actually people start going crazy and even start killing human beings....like I said ugliness and darkness of human mind.
Art 9:
The art was different compared with other anime I've seen, and I love different kind of art. The only thing that bothered me were some crazy hairstyles which were disgusting and didn't fit with the story IMO -_-' I was satisfied with the effects. I mean this is not a magical genre so don't expect something shiny or dunno swords of light, or this is not a paranormal thing so there are no ghosts that will shine around...I guess it all depends from which point of view you'll see it. For a Vampire anime, with lots of deaths, in everyday village, I find it perfect.
Sound 10:
I love Shiki OST. The music in the anime was awesome. It gave scary and sad feeling, which is perfect for this kind of anime. The openings were really fun to watch...I mean you don't see so much people in one horror opening like you do in Shiki XD also ahh the dark feeling of the 1st opening, it was really enjoyable. At first I didn't like the 2nd opening, don't get me wrong but my ears were bleeding :D but I got used to it and now I'm loving it. Ending songs were cool as well.
Characters 10:
I must say that Shiki surprised me. There are so many characters in the opening, so it was something to be expected, but usually there are more supporting characters and the story is focused more on the main characters when we see that many people in the opening. Shiki is not one of those stories.
Every character that was shown in the anime was clearly defined, which made the story more enjoyable. Yes we have two main protagonists, but in the anime it's not all about them. It's all about the village and people that are living in it.
Enjoyment 10:
Well not many anime can hold me down to my chair and make me watch them like crazy. I was hooked on Shiki from the 1st moment. I'm a mystery/horror lover so this was like a joke to me, since usually those type of genre in the movie/anime world are really lame and not very original. So I did a little research and find out that Ghost Hunt and Shiki have the same creator Ono Fuyumi and I thought WOW :)) They are both so different but really awesome and intelligent stories.
Overall 10:
I don't have a heart to give it anything smaller than that. Shiki is awesome story that deserves no less. If you love a great mystery and intelligent horror story (Ghost Hunt, Ghost Hound etc.), that actually is logical you should definitely try it. But don't try it if you are a blinded Higurashi fan..I mean I do love Higurashi but the only word that I'll ever use to describe it it'll be the word "SICK". Don't get me wrong but when it comes to real mystery/horror masterpiece Shiki wins all the way.
~ helpful or not helpful,I really don't care. I'd probably be attacked by Higurashi fans lol :D But nooo they can't hide the truth from the real mystery lovers ;)

*2 little notes:
1. I'll not only write a review for this OVA, but for all Zombie-Loan episodes that have been aired so far, including the anime because this OVA continues where the last anime episode stops.
2. I'll not stick to the story/art/sound/character/enjoyment format but write down what I have on my mind and hope that people will find this review a bit helpful.
~ I apologize in advance if I make some mistakes with spelling or grammar, 'cause I'm not a native English speaker~
Now after saying this, it's time to write down what I think. It's only my opinion and you don't have
...
to agree with it of course.
I don't really remember how I got Zombie-Loan anime in my "plan to watch" list (yeah probably I put it there but don't remember how I found it lol) but after watching it, I'm so glad that it was there. Zombie-Loan is a really great serie that every horror/mystery/comedy lover must see.
After reading a few reviews about this anime, I can see that many people didn't like the fact that there were so little episodes. I didn't like that of course but I don't see why that should play a role in my rating. Someone also said that there are many holes in the plot, but don't forget that this anime is not finished (at least it doesn't look like finished) and it's full with things that will be discovered later.Zombie-Loan has a very original plot, at least in my opinion and it has a great potential to become one of the most amazing stories in anime/manga world.
If you are dead in this moment, and there's someone by your side who says that you can continue to live but you must work for them to pay the loan, what would you do? In this story , there are many different characters who must learn to live and fight together because they share the same faith, they'll all die if they don't continue to fight. That leads us to Zombie-Loan's two male main characters, Chika Akatsuki and Shito Tachibana who hate each other but because of the play of destiny they can't fight and live without each other. One day, Michiru Kita, a girl from their school runs into them (or is it better to say steps on Chika's hand lol) while she's coming back from buying everyone's lunch. When they bring her the lunch she didn't collect, her friends tell her that those two are the only survivors from the accident that happened 6 months ago. Michiru has a secret, she is the owner of shinigami eyes and can see the ring around those people that are going to die in near future. The ring starts as gray and when it's black that mean that the person will die very soon. She sees that those two have black rings around their necks. Michiru goes unconsciousness while in school and stays in nursing room until evening. When she tries to leave she sees Chika and Shito switching hands and freaks out. They want to kill her but suddenly they are attacked by something so they decide to take care of the monster first. After that they point their weapons at her and she discovers what she knows..or think she knows. She tells them that they both are going to die very soon. Instead of killing her those two decide that it's the best if she helps them with her eyes to find the zombie that hunts on school's territory. Michiru doesn't want to be a part of this, but after she finds out that her friend disappeared she joins them for a hunt in her school. While she's protecting her friend, she end's being badly hurt...when she wakes up..well that's where the real adventure begins so you must watch it by yourself ;) The characters are so different and they are all so funny so you can't do anything else but love them :D The soundtrack is nice. I love the opening and especially the ending theme. I also like the art...and wow there's also blood :D
I really enjoyed this anime. It's sad that it's not finished and it really needs to have more episodes and seasons. The manga is still on-going so I hope that we'll see more of Zombie-Loan. OH GOD!! Please, please let them do more!! It's sad that lame series like Naruto, Pokemon etc. have so many episodes and something great like Zombie-Loan and Ghost Hunt ends unfinished..it's breaking my heart really. What happened with people that actually adore good stories and what happened with people that actually were making them -_-'
Overall, if you like anime with dark feeling, mysteries, blood, adventure and humor you'll love this one and you'll be sad when you'll finish the second episode of this OVA. If you like Ghost Hunt or D.Gray-Man (I can find huge similarities between these two and Zombie-Loan) you can try this one as well and be sure that you will not end up watching some lame show. Some people say that it's similar to Death Note, but no, it's not..the only thing these two have in common are the shinigami eyes and nothing more, which doesn't mean that if you like one of them you won't like the other one. I personally like them both ;)
Hope you'll have fun as much as I did :)

Everything about this anime is outstanding, at least IMO XD
Story 10/10 - I didn't think that I'd enjoy this much but from the moment I've seen that creepy opening I knew that this anime will bring a new experience as a viewer for me. I wouldn't go too deep with the story because I'm a person that hates spoilers XD
Basically the story is about a party that specializes in exorcism and their adventures.
What I like the most about the story is that it's separated into files, so it's like you have a ghost detective mystery solving cases. It's quite fun and enjoyable if you
...
a person that enjoys mysteries and likes scary things. Not everything in the anime was scary but everything had a great story. If you try it, you'll see what I mean ;)
Art 10/10 - the art was spectacular. I just loved the special effects and how everything was made.
Sound 10/10 - The sound effects were also great and the soundtrack amazing. The op song is kinda creepy and the ending has kinda sad feeling attached to it, but they both are great themes that fit this anime perfect. I can say that I'm officially hooked on the beautiful music from this anime.
Character 10/10 - Usually in every anime there'll be a few characters that piss me off, I can't say that there's someone like that in this one. They are all so different and hilarious. The interactions between them are very enjoyable and will keep the tension down even in the scariest moments.
Enjoyment 10/10 - well like I said before, this anime surprised me. I found it accidentally and it ended being one of my favorite so far. It was very enjoyable. You have adventure, comedy, horror, mystery all rolled into one ;) I think that I could rewatch this one all over and over again without getting bored.
Overall (clear 10 lol) I recommend this to every person that enjoys in good mystery, great humor, awesome adventure that is spiced with horror. If there are people that don't enjoy these genders I think they will after seeing this show.

I've seen Clannad 1st season and those two chapters and I can say that I'm not big fan of it. I had a free time so decided to see the movie, don't know why. I don't know why the serie is more popular than the movie and why this movie is so underrated. Personally I think this movie is much better than the anime. The anime is kinda slow and boring with lots of nonsense elements not to mention very childish. The movie on the other hand is more realistic and the story is amazing and emotional. I mean I was crying like nuts
...
the last half hour and even started to like Nagisa. So give this movie a chance, it's not that lame as people say, it's a lot better and deserves a chance.
