The protagonists are characters that are basically cut from the same cloth. Both are cheerful, innocent, somewhat ignorant, daring, and come with a love interest that hails from the opposing sides of society. Both plots take place in a post-modern world where times are notably bad. While love plays an active role in both series, they also contain a fair amount of action which is a welcome tension relief. These series are alike, but not so much so that you feel you have read the same thing twice.

...then you might like Deadman Wonderland add

In both Soul Eater and in Deadman Wonderland the characters are forced to struggle against insanity. While Deadman Wonderland is by far a darker tale, its twisted carnival setting sort of reminded me of the punk/halloween like style portrayed in Soul Eater.
