I'd heard a lot about this series and decided to give it a shot. I dropped it after the first chapter because I couldn't stand to read any more. The story was horribly cliché and I could already see how it would end: hot-headed (and highly obnoxious, in my opinion), man-hating female lead has her less-than-feministic occupation found out by her hot classmate who she will later fall in love with.
Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against a female lead with an attitude or who's different from your usual, perfect Mary-Sue lead, but I couldn't stand this girl because of all her clichéd characteristics

This is probably one of the most unorthodox manga I've ever read, but I think it's for that reason that I loved it so much. The phrase "short and sweet" definitely describes this series. Even though it's only two volumes long, it contains more feeling than I've seen in longer series.
The art is lovely, but that's to be expected from Kyousuke Motomi. The characters are likable and real - you won't find Mary-Sues in this series. The story, though short, was great and all loose ends were tied at the end. I'd definitely recommend this lighthearted romantic comedy. Jan 9, 2011
I chose to read this manga because it was written by my favorite manga artist, and it started out good like all her other manga. The relationship between Rinne and Uzaki starts out hilarious, and you think you know the direction the story is going to take, but it doesn't end up that way at all. The characters go from being funny to a bit shallow, and the story takes an unexpected - and for me, unwanted - twist involving the main characters.
The art was great and I liked Uzaki's character, but I personally didn't enjoy this series as much as Seino's other works. But ... Jan 6, 2011
At first glance, Girl Got Game (or for those of you who prefer the original name, Power!!) may seem like just another gender-bender manga about a girl who cross-dresses to get into a boys' school, but it's a little different than you'd expect. First of all, the girl is forced by her father in order to play on the boys basketball team instead of going on her own free will. Second, this has a lot more craziness compared to your typical shoujo manga.
The characters in Girl Got Game are realistic and easy to relate to despite being a bit exaggerated. You won't find any Mary-Sues ... |
