Natsu and Kurosawa may focus on different subjects, in this case Natsu on Romance and Kurosawa on who knows what but still manage to bring originality in thair respectiv generes by creating a work of realism, rather than using the same formula that is popular nowadays. Anyway lets tackel the similaritys : 1. Both are set in real life, to be exact in a highschool and university. 2. Both frequently use sex as a base, may you like it or not. 3. Both main characters show alot of development trought out the series. 4. Some plot twists are almost the same, actually one twist ended up making me want to write this recommendation. 5. Both have a unique style of presenting the characters and story or should I just say they have uniqe art ? 6.Both are worth rereading at some point of your life. Anyway I could just go on and on about how similar they are but I guess this recommendation didnt have the spark to unlish the flame of writing something more decent. So where was a going...ah....If you would like to read something fresh and different you should pick up thous two but warning both contain mature stuff so kids stay away from such chinese comics till your beard starts growing (naturally I mean both male and female) *laughts*.

Lies (face), Lies (money), Lies (status), Lies (sex), a endless circle of lies called life that both the main characters created by escaping reality. A life that they dreamed of but became a living nightmare of no escape. A life that might be remembered by us and that is the life of Ririko and Nakoshi. While they may be similar in character they are very different by the world that they perceive and ultimatly changes tham in various different ways trought out their respectiv storys. Nakoshi sees a world that reflects himself and tryes trought out the story to find himself, while Ririko tries to escape reality by drug abuse, alcohol and various affairs . In both cases the art is rather realistic in character design, world building, altought in Homuculus we have another layer, the abstract world Nakoshi sees. On another hand HS is rather poor in detail in comparison with Homunculus, we could go even further and say that the art is an abomination we see with Nakoshis eyes (laughts). The only thing to say might be that Homunculus has a more satisfying ending but the ending of HS is not a real ending because of the circumstances of the mangaka.
