Ao Ashi... finally a sports anime with realistic, and I mean realistic approach in a world of sports and athletes. I'm so tired of seeing shounen sports animes where everyone is friendly, everyone are friends which is stupid.
You think aiming to become pro is easy? You think when you joined a club or a team that aims to the world stage, you will be friends to all? That you will be chillin' with your bros? Fucking not! You have friends yes, but even you're own friends, teammates, even your own self can be your downfall. You need to be very strong physically and mentally.
...
Ao Ashi showed that athletes have families too with different life statuses and background. There are poor, rich/previledge and so on. I know a lot of football athletes local and international that came from poor family.
I always hate it when sports animes shows the characters being pro or just being there without any interaction with their family or parents or without any backstory aside from when they were young playing volleyball, basketball or what to show that they like it from the start... I find it really stupid cuz I was like, where tf are their parents? Self/life/personal background of a character is very important to me.
So watching Ao Ashi i know that the author know what he's writing. It's on point, it's accurate.
The animation and art so far is clean, solid and sharp. The characters look are gorgeous, the background is gorgeous even the tiny details. The color and atmosphere overall is on point. Not too flashy, not too bright. It's refreshing and good in the eyes. Football is hard to animate specially like Ao Ashi that is focusing how to show the proper playing of football and how to play football in different perspectives. By that thought, i still think they made a solid adaptation. It's exciting, it's making my blood boil, it's making me happy and sad and mad, it's making me feel roller coaster of emotions which is very good for me.
Im liking the characters so far. The main character Ashito is a good mc, I'm excited to know what kind of player he will become in the future. I'm also interested on how Hana, Otomo, Tachibana, the coaches and other players in the tryout will affect Ashito's growth and the story's growth overall. I'm rooting for them. Very interesting casts there Ao Ashi. I keep wanting more.
Also, the VA's made a very good job. The voices fits the characters. By just listening at their voices, you can tell what kind of character they are specially Ashito. You can see the effort they put on the voices and facial expressions because it's making you feel the feeling that they want you to feel. U get what I mean? It fits perfectly.
The sounds are fire. The background songs, the opening song and ending song are banger! It's excellent.
The dialogues are also very good that it punches you in the gut and slaps you hard. Making you feel every scene.
This anime reminds me so much of my number 1 sports series Hajime no Ippo. Everything about this anime has been excellent so far. I really enjoy it. I don't care if it's popular or not. Popularity doesn't always mean good anyway. I know a lot of popular animes/series that is trash. Atleast Ao Ashi is a gem. The hate about this series is trying hard asf so ignore them and see it for yourself. Ao Ashi is great so watch it.
