MAdhouse never ceases to fail us with great anime coming out every year and this title is no exception. One Punch Man is a series that is based on a Web Comic that is a parody of modern and old school Marvel and DC based superhero comics.
This anime tells the story about Saitama, the self-proclaimed average hero trying to find stronger evil to fight. His power the ability to defeat any opponent in, you guessed it....just One Punch. The main story line is very simple and easy to follow for every viewer, new or veteran and that what makes it great. No need for
...
long drawn out explanations for everything like in most Shounen/Seinen anime. However I find it a little too predictable in most fights so do not get your hopes up for any game changers or major plot twist. There is also a lot of characters which doesn't give the anime a ton of time to go into deep understanding of its characters, including it's MCs.
The anime has a great art style which captures the comic book style artwork most people are used to. The music is also on point as well. Everything but the Ed impressed me quite a bit and are extremely catchy. Its a great aesthetic viewing experience with audio and visuals.
Overall this is a great anime for all types of viewers: newcomers casuals, elitist, etc. The action is very appealing and its also one of the funniest anime to be released this year. Its definitely a must watch for any superhero or comic book fans out there.

Brynhildr in Darkness was something I was anticipating after watching the second OP a few times. I feel as a 13 Episode anime it was portrayed pretty well but there was a few things that really didn'ts it well with me in the end.
Story 6/10
I feel the story was accomplished but not really executed in a very good way. The first episodes had very good flow and was really interesting. Around episode 10 is where they start cramming in way too many things. It wasn't really healthy at all to be quite honest. Also the ending was very rushed and didn't feel very complete at
...
all, it feels almost like a cliff hanger. As in regard to the actually events however, it was entertaining but felt too much like Deadman Wonderland with the whole "pills to survival" thing and they crammed the aliens in as a more "WTF" sort of feel which wasn't great at all.
Art 9/10
I actually enjoyed the art style quite a bit. It was very pretty but one thing though was why did they have to lens flare every sight of nudity. It was very annoying and I wish they never would have done that. Also they did do some minor CGI effects that wasn't very good either. The prime example being the bus in some episodes. Didn't really fit the animation style at all.
Sound 9/10
OST was actually very impressive and was the main reason I wanted to watch this anime. Only downside was the second OP was not used enough. You only get to hear it for 4 episodes and thats it. Kind of shitty if you ask me but whatever.
Character 7/10
I liked the characters in this anime but being so short there was really no time to develop any of the load of characters they introduce every episode. It would have been better to get more back story for more of the characters but just with the time it didn't happen.
Overall 7/10
This was no way a bad anime. A lot of people said the ending was bad and yes they were all right. But It is still worth the watch. It was very interesting but this had so much potential to be an amazing anime but sadly, it wasn't compromised on. If your gnna watch it just don't take the ending as an overall view of how the anime was entirely.

Lucky Star at a glance is a typical SoL anime about a group of junior high-school girls that makes tons of references and jokes about other anime and manga such as Gundam, Pokemon, and Sgt. Frog. It has a very light-hearted but also comedic aspect behind it which I find people either loving it or hating it.
Story 3/10
Its not that the story was bad its the lack of one. SoL's are normally like this so I'm not real to fed up with this at all. Each episode entails of mostly random conversations between the main cast of characters and really minor sub-plots. The main focus
...
is directed towards the comedy than anything else. It makes a fine work of making you laugh. I don't think there was an episode where I didn't laugh at some point.
Art 8/10
The art style was pretty solid overall. They made fine work of taking you across a few different titles art styles which I found pretty cool. Its not everyday you see a shift in style in an anime so it was pretty refreshing to see that. The character design was very well done. I enjoyed every character in terms of design very kawaii for the most part.
Sound 10/10
This is one of the best OST's I have ever heard. For starters, the OP was drop dead amazing and very catchy. Episode 1-14 always featured the cast of characters singing a random song at the end of each episode. I found that very cute as always. The rest had a live action ED which was so hilarious. I could not stop laughing at the end of each episode. Totally something I wish I had a CD for.
Character 9/10
The main four girls of the series can be related to if you watch a lot of anime or manga. The confection between audience and character was made to grab your attention from the start and thats something a lot of writers aren't good at but this series in particular has done a fine job with that. I felt right at home when watching the interactions between them. Though as with story, there was hardly any character development.
Overall 9/10
This was a very good series but this is not something you should try to marathon. While I am going against myself here this anime has a casual feel and is meant to be enjoyed when you need a fresh relief from reality and a good laugh now and then. It is also very much so good to watch with friends as I did. I highly recommend it to anyone willing to take a break from very action packed shounens and such anime.

This is an anime I feel like no one really calls an amazing anime. With that in mind I feel like I have to give it an ego boost because it does hit on a lot of key points I think a lot of people missed.
Story 7/10
For a sports, SoL anime what more could you expect to emerge from it. While it may be pretty straight forward where team trains to reach amazing results in competition I really like the pace they took it in. They did try too hard to bore you with ludicrous training montages or anything to major but they alsoa dded
...
in nice character background to add in more feeling to it which was good in the sense they didn't try to hard about that either. If therew as one word I used to describe it all it would be smooth.
Art 9/10
The art style was very modern but also very beautifully detailed. Character design was very nice as well as they didn't try to take things over the top like some animes do to get you to remember them. Vibrant color scheme almost the whole way through so solid job on that note.
Sound 10/10
If theres one thing about this anime I wish I could have it would be the sound. The OST for this anime surprised me in the fact most of the background songs were all dubstep orinated which is a plus plus on my end. I also really enjoyed the OP and ED. Never skipped them once just because how awesome they sounded.
Character 8/10
The characters stood out to me as being a very diverse cast. It felt really different than what I was used to such as Haru. I expected an MC such as him to be rather cocky or energetic but no very quiet but intelligent feel. Though the only thing wrong with the characters was how most dwelled on the past too much. I really thought with the way the anime was going to could be done with there past a little earlier on.
Overall 9/10
I really enjoyed myself with this one. I usually don't pick up on Sports anime but dang this was pretty amazing. The show did have some scenes where I was just like WTF, and the abridged series definietly picked up on but itw as still a great experience. Even if your not into Sports or SoF this is something you should definitely check out and I'd reccomend it anyday of the week.

When you think Mecha anime you think of horrible story and characters and mediocre everything but with Gurren Lagann its a whole new plane of anime. I was a little hesitant on watching this but as soon as started watching it, I was hooked on it until the end.
Story 10/10
Now there are two arcs to the story in total. The first last from episode 1-16 and the second arc is every episode after. The first arc tells the story of Team Gurren attempts to defeat the Spiral King which gives you a little taste of what will lie within the second arc. Just
...
the way the anime presents it story line makes you feel so satisfied when the power of the drill is used its just so damn epic. The story couldn't get any better than what this told.
Art 9/10
This is a very bright anime. Wonderful display of vibrant colors and downright amazing animating scheme. Characters and mecha's were made to be pretty rememorable for future watch. I almost everything about the designs for this show.
Sound 10/10
The OST for this show could not be more fitting for such an epic anime OP and ED got me real hyped to watch this show even more and who could forget Row Row Fight the Power. I watched in English Dub so not sure how the sub will compare but the voice acting was pretty rich for this series.
Characters 9/10
Now there was a few characters I did not really like such as Kamina and Leeron but I gotta say the were all so fucking badass and have some good quotes. The series first arc helped build on the character development going into the second arc. Most of the characters developed from what Kamina did in the anime as a reckless badass but always keep a fighting spirit. The characters taught me to always believe in yourself and kick logic out and do the impossible which in my mind couldn't have been more deeply demonstrated by this any other show.
Overall 9/10
I really loved this show and every moment about it and can't wait to watch maybe the movies or Parallel Works. If your one for total badassery, gigantic mecha's clashing heads, and heart warming morals than this show is right for you. Even if none of this applies this is still a must watch for any group and I highly recommend it to anyone out there.

Generic filler.
If I had a few words to describe Genesis of Aquarion that is what I would say about it. This was something I was so hyped on watch for the longest time and when the time came I was let down by it.
Story 4/10
I was not very impressed by it story. It starts off pretty good but after like the 2nd Episode the rest of the series becomes filler. The pacing was very slow and the climax of the story just made me say "Finally its done." It was very predictable in every way. Honestly with all the filler this series was they
...
could have taken the series and made it a 6 episode OVA and told the same events. The filler it brought wasn't even that special. They tried adding in so many elements that made me feel like this wasn't really about Aquarion anymore. [like the vampire episode].
Art 8/10
This was the best thing about this anime by far. it has a darker tone in the anime and as such the anime's scenery is very replicating of it. But its not always like that, there are its brighter moments which fit very nicely in the anime. The CGI also fit in with the anime very nicely. However if one thing about its art didn't please me it was its character designs. They kinda felt generic and I probably wouldn't remember them if I was asked about it in the future.
Sound 5/10
The music for the anime wasn't very ground breaking to me. The OP was very catchy and I fell like i can recite it if asked to. Other than that I did not really enjoy the sound track at all. I don't know it just wasn't my cup of tea when it comes to these kind of songs.
Character 4/10
Most of the characters other than our MC, Apollo, were very generic when it comes to development and story. Most of them just feel so generic by all means. Apollo on the other hand is something that caught me by surprise. He is quite literally an animal by nature and personality which made this anime a little easier to watch. He's not your dense headed prick or generic manly man in the anime he's just an animal and that's what was enjoyable about him.
Overall 4/10
This was not a favorite of mine nor will it ever be. It was so generic in most every way and because it had me asleep multiple times. If you have seen at least a few animes this won't be something you'll probably enjoy just because of its mediocreness. Though I am not saying this is a bad anime at all I just think this could have been executed better. Don't take my overall score too deeply in consideration when going to watch this anime, you may find something you like.

School Days was one that was on the top of my recommendations for me to watch for the longest of time and for good reasoning too. Its title may be somewhat cheerful but the actual events are quite sad and at times disturbing. The had me crying after I was done but also relieved when it was done.
Story 9/10
Like I said its title is very misleading. School Days really has nothing to do with school life but more so the main character Makoto and his love life. It may seem very generic but its presented in a way that is very appealing to
...
most anime fans. His love life takes a very dark approach after the few episodes where it ultimately hooks you into what is going to happen next. It was also not rushed it had very good pacing with a very good climatic ending which lets you know from the first time watching, this is the ending,
Art 8/10
It takes a very realistic approach on its artwork. It fits well with its darker-themed tone but its not very heavy about it. I liked some of the character designs but some just seem very indistinguishable at times. If your looking for a bit of "fanservice" there is a bit added in to keep some attention and tension.
Sound 8/10
I liked the OP a lot but I didn't particullary care for the ED's at all. The lyrics don't really fit in and it doesn't sound appealing at all. However I do think a lot of people may find the various EDs enjoyable.
Character 9/10
This score may sound like it contradicts itself but hear me out, when I say I characters that doesn't mean they were bad at all. Like I said the animes story is very dark and characters interactions are very cruel. This made me hate Makoto and Senkai for what they did to Katsura. I won't spoil it but it was very sad but it makes for really good drama. Then towards the end we have a bit of Yandere action in there which just me say, "that a girl, good for you." If your into these factors like me you won't be displeased with this at all just be ready to hate some of the characters.
Overall 9/10
In all, if I wouldn't of have taken a bit of time to think about what I seen I would of gave this a 10. This anime was very enjoyable to watch and I was usually all the time intrigued. What I like about this is how real this could be and I'm sure something similar to this could happen in real life. While it may have been an enjoyable experience I couldn't help the fact half the characters in this anime are very cruel. But if you are into very action orientated animes this is probably not for. But if you were here for romance and stuff past that this is perfect for you and I wouldn't save this anime for another day if you were looking to watch it.

Medaka Box is an anime I stumbled upon while just browsing around on YouTube at some parodies and abridged series. Little did I know I was in for a great experience. I have seen both this and the Abnormal Sequel Series and yes my score is based around both as with this review. I won't spoil anything so go ahead and read the rest of this worry free.
Story 9/10
The first series was all about what the anime was titled about: Medaka's Student Council Suggestion Box and her quest to reform the school and everyone around her. It is somewhat more light-hearted than the second
...
seasons immense amounts of violence and blood because it revolves around most of the school life and Medaka's Student Council. This may not sound all too exciting for the first season but Medaka herself is an abnormal person being physically able to do anything presented to her. After first season, second season picks up and presents a conflict, The Flask Plan which I find relieving since it doesn't remain somewhat of mostly filler. Although, I did not personally enjoy the ending as it really didn't have any relation to the rest of the series except for back story of a character we didn't know about until the second to last episode. But its one of those you may have to read the manga so I somewhat understand the reasoning behind that.
Art 8/10
The art style presents a lot of fan-service but does it in a way you'll still like the way everything is drawn. Its not the most beautiful anime but the way it presents itself is quite nice.
Sound 8/10
I liked all of the tracks except for the first season OP. It just didn't appeal to me and just felt generic. However every other theme in both seasons were very moving and I feel they fit the style and tone very well. I did watch in dub and I was very happy most of the voice actors cast consisted of Clannad actors.
Character 10/10
I loved every character presented in this anime, especially Medaka. She may be abnormal but its a good light hearted abnormal with one goal, help everyone around her be happy. She herself goes through major development mostly occurring in the second season but you can see the seeds of it being planted at the end of this series. As I said above, I really enjoyed the Clannad party here in the dub, it makes them more recognizable to me. I also enjoyed the wide variety of troubled people in the anime.
Overall 10/10
This is not a perfect anime by any means though through it all, I really enjoyed what saw. Every bit was enjoyable to watch and if you are into school with some added effects, give this a watch. You may not feel like I do but I assure you, you will not be disappointed by this anime, except maybe for the ending. But hey, if you can put up with, it still makes an enjoyable experience.

As a fan of the Bayonetta game I did not pass up the opportunity to watch this movie. Seriously, I don't think there is one person here who didn't come to watch this without having played the games first and if you are someone who has not played it you should before even watching this.
Story 6/10
The story itself does not change from the game for the most part. It also retains most aspects from the original game. However, if you already played the games this is not anything new at all. There is no presence of a new concept and most the events
...
that followed are as they are in the game. To put this game in the hour and a half time frame they did have to rush the hell out of the story as well so be prepared for that. Most of things you thought you were going to see aren't present in this film.
Art 9/10
I really enjoyed the art used in this Movie. It really represents the game well and all the characters look exactly as they did in the game and you even get to see some of the awesome weapons that were in the game like the Shuraba. I also loved the fact they didn't copy every little scene and presented somewhat of different settings while still following the story. I really wish they included some of the other angels that did not make an appearance in this film like Golem or Grace and Glory.
Sound 10/10
They pleased me very much so by not fixing what wasn't broken and that is the music and voice actors. I watched in the English dub and I gotta hand it to them for getting the same or very similar actors who played in the English version of the game. They also brought back personal favorites of mine from the game such as Mysterious Destiny and Fly Me Too the Moon.
Characters 8/10
Exactly as they were in game so if you enjoyed them in game there is no doubt you'll enjoy them here. While some of the script is kind of rehashed just for the movie I still find them quite enjoyable. Simple as that.
Overall 8/10
Very good at retelling the story to me and they did a great job of keeping the action as presented in game. If you have played the games you should definitely watch this movie when you got the free time but just note there is nothing new the game didn't show. The movie did explain some things such as the actual correlation between Bayonetta, Cereza, and Balder if you couldn't guess just by playing the game but other than that there is nothing new. But, if you have not already played the games I high;y recommend it before watching the movie as it is a better experience and has more detailed than what this could have possibly packed in 1 and a half hours.

I was actually looking for something a less intense for what I'm usually used to. Spice and Wolf is one of those animes I find hard for anyone to actually hate unless your doing it on purpose or you really don't like settings placed in medieval periods.
Story 8/10
The story seems very generic to me but I like the point of view they put the whole thing into. Its not set into your typical Knight in Shining Armor or peasant who just gets wrapped up in all of the mess. No its just told from an ordinary traveling merchant who decides to take matters into his
...
own hands. Its plot revolves around Holo trying to get home and Kraft promises to get her there. Well the only thing I really dislike about this idea is the subplot they add in there to add some development. However they do still keep your attention through all of it which some animes aren't very good at.
Art 9/10
The art is actually very beautiful and fits nicely with the tone of this anime. Though it seems very common in animes of the decade so really it wasn't unexpected to have a style as such.
Sound 7/10
As for our music I really didn't like the ED. Just the sound reminds me of Christmas Carolers and pushes it. However I do quite enjoy the OP its really beautiful.
Character 8/10
The characters in Spice and Wolf become very developed by the end of the season. I find it difficult to hate anyone in this anime unless you just don't like furries. However, it is pretty interesting to hear about merchants trade or wolf life every now and then. They really portray medieval periods well.
Overall 8/10
This anime was quite something. Its not really an intense thing to watch so if your an action junkie this may not be for you. However its story and character development work out really nicely so if your in it for any of these or the adventure give it a watch, you won't be disappointed.
