If youre looking for a light-heartened, simple easy going anime- this is not it. This anime short is only 13 episodes long, but it packs itself full of symbolism and deep things throughout the episodes. This is one of those animes that you really benefit from reading analysis of once your done watching to get concrete understanding.
If youre someone who enjoys deeper meanings and more introspective anime, its worth the watch. The characters are relatable and enjoyable, and the art style still holds up in 2020.
If you enjoyed Utena, give this a watch.

This anime is a true work of art. The animation style is a bit old but the direction takes care of that. The entire setting is centred in and around Germany and old Czechoslovakia. The architecture style and culture depicted in the background reflects the reality and is quite detailed. The shows folllows real world history and is amazingly accurate in depicting it.The soundtrack is nothing special but is used in such a way that it gives you shivers at times. Every episode is full of twists and turns. Agreed, that the story does get predictable at times, and is insanely slow paced (more so

Natsume Yuujinchou
(Anime)
add
The Natsume Yuujinchou series is a real work of art; something about this manga/anime just has an undefinable quality to it that cannot be matched by many other series that deal with youkai or the supernatural (aside from, I would say, Mushishi).
And don't let the way this series seemingly looks like a slow-paced nichijou-type story hold you back from dipping your toe into this story's wonderful world! Honestly, Natsume Yuujinchou is eerie and supsense-ridden, while also managing to be heartbreakingly sad and heartwarmingly kind. All of its characters are well fleshed out and make you care about them - even the ones you meet in passing. Honestly, ... Feb 25, 2021
All Rounder Meguru
(Manga)
add
The entire plot of All-Rounder Meguru revolves around the titular character and his group of friends trying to make it on the Japanese amateur circuit with some hoping to go pro. Appropriately, this MMA manga dedicates a good part of itself to the rigors of training.
Rather than a conveniently condensed montage, All-Rounder Meguru builds up Meguru and company step-by-step. Meguru starts as a neophyte with a karate background and painstakingly builds himself to be an all-rounder. From basic sprawls and jabs to submissions and kicks, it really mirrors the growth of an earnest fighter. This is packaged together with the traditional love, laugh, and heartbreak accompanying ... Great, great manga. Another masterpiece from Takehiko Inoue.
This is not a new Slam Dunk. It deals with much heavier and mature themes, deepens them to an unprecedented level. The love of basketball here is a background and, at the same time, a crucial aspect. It's a background because the story, at least until now (volume 14), is not about basketball, but it's about people dealing with the various impacts of a physical disability. It is crucial because it is in the rescue or building of love of basketball that the characters rebuild themselves from trauma and resignify their experiences with the physical disability. Real basically deals with this: ... Feb 25, 2021

Characters:
The story revolves almost entirely around Mori with almost all other characters presenting themselves as challenges that he must struggle with and over come. Though Mori does meet some good people throughout his life with some genuinely touching scenes that really express how strong and weak Mori is. Art: The art in this series is quite simply, astonishingly good. The way the author draws everything from Mori’s exhausted and frostbitten face to the beautiful sight of the K2 mountain the art would only be comparable to series such as Berserk and Vagabond. The art also works very effectively with the symbolism in the series, quite effectively distinguishing ... Feb 20, 2021

Set in a time when the government has given up on saving repeat suicide attempts, the titular island is made.
The island’s purpose is to serve as a dumping site for those who have repeatedly tried to take their own lives. They’re left on the island without any resources. They only have what they are wearing, and all means of communication to the outside is barred. Kouji Mori, Sousei no Taiga’s creator, is also Jisatsutou’s creator, so a great story line is already a given. Jisatsutou’s distinguishing feature is how it depicts gray areas. The protagonists aren’t necessarily the good guys, and the bad guys aren’t necessarily the ... Feb 10, 2021
I really enjoyed Zetman. I binged it from chapter 1 to current after watching the anime. The anime follows the manga very closely expect for the last arc where it makes some changes to make it end a bit better for an anime season. Manga wise the translations appear to only just be wrapping up that same arc.
As far as story goes, I feel its rather unique in the way it handles it really. I haven't read many manga with a similar feel to them. The story revolves a lot around how the main characters develop and perceive situations as the story itself is a ... Feb 9, 2021

I return to this film every once and a while just to rewatch and experience it again. (Yes, it is truly amazing!)
This is an absolutely outstanding and beautiful movie, and there wasn’t a single moment or scene in which I lost interest. I am not a movie person to say the least, but after hearing so much good about it from others I decided to check it out. It keeps you hooked and the storyline is something so timeless and unique! What really resonated with me during my first time watching this film was the main character, Ishida’s, personality. Having a character in a movie ... Feb 3, 2021

Episode 1 through 8 were the only parts that are actually good the rest of the show main character and her friends all of sudden are now gay and lesbian. in my opinion it felt force and in your face, there was most parts that are long and slow to the point where you don't care about the characters anymore.
another thing I hate about this show its music (the one with a bunch of kids singing) they play that song so much in the show it made me made hearing it. another flawed this show has is it tells you too much in the story then ... |
