Because this is a review of a season 2, there will be spoilers because I want to write my honest thoughts after watching the episodes. Many people have praised how good this anime is and after watching it, it definitely delivered. The show really focuses on self growth as Ichikawa slowly realizes that the people around him aren’t so bad after all. This personally hits home for me because I also felt similar and constantly feel that people around me may be judging me on the side. It made me think about, just maybe I overthought the situation and maybe not everyone back then was ... hostile. I always appreciate it when shows like these give you something to think about and take away. Yes, there are many back and forth situations but it didn’t feel like anything was dragging on. Just like the first season, the plot feels like its building from one episode to another and there wasn’t a moment that made me feel like it was stagnant. I especially like the scenes where Yamada cries. Instead of being a cliche, it made it feel more real. The whole dynamic between Yamada and Ichikawa is that the Ichikawa is short and has low self esteem while Yamada is tall and gives out the impression that she is mature and has it all together. The fact that she often balls and lets all her emotions out really gives a reminder that despite everything, she is still a 14 year old middle schooler, the same as everyone around her. Something that this anime stands out on is that I like how highly they value a romantic relationship. After Yamada’s sleepover in Ichikawa’s place, Ichikwa eventually realizes that staying over when you’re not dating is not respectful to the person and her family. In the end, he even apologized to her dad for letting this happen. I personally think that two people shouldn’t live together before marriage but the fact that the anime addressed this is rare in my opinion. If it were any other anime, they would definitely encourage this behavior and maybe even use this to show some tasteless fan serious. A lot of people might already have said this but a lot of anime with the same “Boy Girl slice of life” dynamic portrays the heroine as this perfect being for self insert but Yamada really felt like a person with her own flaws, problems and worries. In conclusion, this show is wholesome and realistic, heart warming but also not afraid to be serious about morals when the moment comes. To me, this show really deserves all the love and respect it deserves. Although I won’t call it a masterpiece but it is definitely up there near the top.

“The Dangers In My Heart” or “Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu” is an anime about a romance between two middle schoolers. At first glance, it seems to be your generic romance anime about an introvert main protagonist meeting an extrovert girl. In the first few episodes, I can definitely see that it won’t be for everyone. But if there’s even a slight chance that you are into romance anime, I do recommend you grind through the first few episodes because the pay off is more than worth it. One of the excellent aspects of this show is that it never truly sit’s still ... and there wasn’t a moment where I thought the scene was dragged on. The plot just keeps adding on one after another and at the end of the season, I can see myself feeling satisfied even if I didn’t know about it having a 2nd season shortly after. In other words, It ended on a good spot for me. The romance is quite natural as well. It touches a lot on insecurities and the I idea of the character’s thought process when having a first crush. The show basically follows the main character working out and coming to terms on what his new found feelings are about. It has some fan service but overall, it’s a really wholesome show about learning how to open up to the people around you and realising that there are people that actually care about the things you do and who you are. Finding an Identity in one’s self.

As the title and synopsis implies, “Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken” or “I can’t understand what my husband is saying” is a show following an extrovert girl having a marriage with an otaku. Specifically, the story starts with the couple just finished having their marriage ceremony and the following episodes would show how they grow as husband and wife. This anime is surprisingly easy to watch as it’s only roughly 3 minutes. But at the same time, they really made a lot of down to earth problems when getting to know your spouse. Especially when they have drastically different personalities, it really ... gets you invested on their development. Every episode has its own storyline, starting and finishing without you having a need to wait for the story to Finnish. It brings up a lot of topics including accepting the ups and downs of one person, discovering responsibilities that comes with marriage and going out of their comfort zones to make ease the load on the other person. At one point, there was one scene where the husband decides to voluntarily take their niece out to play when a few episodes ago, he makes it clear that he despise going outdoors. At the same time it was meaningful seeing both the husband and the wife influencing each other and encouraging each other to try new things. One theme I would say this anime has is that love isn’t something that’s complicated, and when you act naturally without being selfish and prideful. By putting down yourself, everything will naturally fall in to place and create a wonderful bond. There are bound to be arguments but through a devoted love for each other, things will work out one way or another. There are definitely a lot of better anime but I thing this show is definetly a masterpieces in it’s own special way.
