Just watched this movie out of curiosity because honestly I never heard of this title or even the manga. This anime for me is like a walk in a park after a full day of work. Yup, I tried to watch this one after a long full day of stress and work hoping to have some heartwarming stories without any intricate conflict or some form of confusing detail. If you're like me, you're in for a treat!!!

Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi offered a magnificent romance story with more of a grounded elements to begin with. The character Josee and Tsuneo really sets up an ... interesting dynamic that keeps the audience intact to the story. Their relationship is really well written and audience can really feel the progression that is paired with a light-hearted tone between them. Their relationship really reminded me of that movie called "Me Before You", but with all the quirkiness and anime magic. The side character Kana and Hayato are my favorite because they add up so much to the story. Kana is a passionate and supportive character to Josee just like Hayato to Tsuneo. But, I really don't dig into a love triangle type character like Mai because she's kinda unnecessary in the first place. Her personality would shine brighter without the pressure to be the rival to Josee. Grandma's character also has a mysterious side that would hooked the audience, but they didn't bother to elaborate her any further. Overall, the character has a lighter tone just like most slice of life/Romance anime and most of them has an enjoyable interaction that impacts the story as whole.

Story itself is relaxing to follow. I love that this movie just don't bother to follow most anime movie formula (High school, tragic story/backstory, magic, overly trying to be sad) and that's the charm of this movie. The pacing is fast, but they handled it well. It has several stages and they showed us the inevitable changes that our main couple has to endured. I gotta be honest, it feels a little cliché at several points of the arc and quiet easy to guess type of story. But, it is a relaxing-slice of life romantic movie so that type of thing is what you're looking for I guess. One thing for sure, the ending is very satisfying for most of the audience and you'll feel a nice feeling surging into you when the story concluded. Overall, the story is relatable and romantic for casual watcher on Friday night with your loved one.

All in all, I would recommend this anime for any of you guys that is bored by over the top shonen anime, crazy premises, and silly characters that most anime nowadays served. This anime is just a straight forward light-hearted story with a conflict that is normal and even relatable with many couple's situation especially in their early stage. It's relaxing and will leave you satisfied. This movie reminds us to stop being a corporate slave and start embracing our emotional wave.
Also, it's on Netflix so you guys can jump right in and feel the sweet connection blossoms between them.

Here's the thing, i have an immensely love-hate relationship with this kind of genre specifically Tsuki ga Kirei simplicity efforts intake on romantic relationship. This anime has a lot potential, yet at some part it failed to deliver.

The story is suprisingly great with the sprinkle of enigmatic character development. As we all know, school romance is very common in the anime industry and this anime must throw us something substantial to hype us. I love the fact that this anime progresses throgh the story in a slow pace whilst giving us many doki-doki moment that serves us good. This anime is not too glamorous, yet ... the simplicity did the majestic trick. kudus to the seiyuu and the whole sound designer that is very lively in terms of daily live conversation and the background talk that is very realistic.

But why only 7 ?
Well, its because this anime is objectively just another one of those anime that didn't last long for me. Even if the story can change our viewpoint on this genre, its still is just a repetitive pattern with no intention of going further through its limitation. I personally got annoyed by the unnecesary flashback that feels out of place. This anime also has a poor lid especially the late episodes that focuses on 2 main chara. They can actually dig deeper into another notable character that didn't make it in the short eps such as chinatsu or hira. Actually im pretty interested to foresaw a little bit more of their feelings or development responding the aftermath of their rejection/realization instead of just the train scene. The visual surely is not the best nor the worst.
So far this anime has been an astonishing monotonous experience for me and i actually will still recommend this anime to all of you slice of life/romance/drama lover out there. Although for me Tsuki Ga Kirei is just another reharsh representation of romance genre, but stil an exceptional anime to widen your horizon.

This anime truly has a charm but not in a charming way.
