The series both follow the life of an interesting male character from adolescence through adulthood with similar pacing and art. Both main characters are loners that lead minimalist lifestyles. Both series showcase art with an appreciation for the setting (which is depicted very well). Read them both!

If you enjoy one you're likely to enjoy the other. Both great quality. Both about a male lead who has part of his humanity taken away without his consent. Both main characters go through a few similar things. The fighting in both series doesn't vary much, with Parasyte being a bit more tactical / realistic, and Tokyo Ghoul being a bit more over-the-top.

Both of these series have great artwork and deal with quality romance. Both also contain well developed suspense that will make you want to read through all the chapters in one sitting. UxU has a bit more ecchi, however both series are a bit more focused on the relationships than the fan service. If you liked either of these series I suggest you check out the other!

Death Note

I'm sure many of you out there have seen the great hit Death Note, but may have glanced over Detective Conan or "Case Closed." Or maybe even the other way around! Both shows share the value of intelligence, cunning, planning, and deducing the actions of others. Both forged with great storylines, they are really deserve a good watch. The main differences are that Death Note is a bit "darker" both in color and in terms of death, while Case Closed is a much longer series with a little worse artwork, and the plot of each individual episode is what's important while the plot of the series as a whole takes the backseat. If you like either of these series, or just the elements they share, I implore you to check both of them out for a good watch!

Claymore

If you were a fan of Basilisk, and feel like you want a new Anime experience, try out Claymore! Both series are short, and include a higher degree of violence/gore than some other action based Anime such as Naruto. One key difference is that Claymore has a Manga adaptation longer than the Anime series.

Fairy Tail
|
For those of you who are fans of One Piece, I highly recommend reading Fairy Tail. The author of Fairy Tail used to be an assitant to Oda(Author of One Piece) thus they share many characteristics, especially artwork. Both series have great fights with equally great character designs. All the great fundamentals of an epic Manga like One Piece, with a different plot and set-up, are all the ingredients you need for a good read!
