**SPOILER WARNING JUST IN CASE**
I wanted to wait for season 3 to finish airing before giving my first anime review. I kept watching with the hope that things get better but yet they just stay the same. Almost every character is interesting apart from the MC, who's still a whiny crybaby who gets his butt kicked most of the time.
Takemichi also takes forever to put 2 and 2 together while the audience and other characters are miles ahead of him. Many times, he doesn't even know what's happening until his friends spoon-feed him information. This does not seem like a 26-year-old stuck in a middle-schooler's

body at all, either in brawns or brain. His friend is a police officer yet Takemichi fails to properly utilize the resources at his disposal and goes back in time unprepared. He doesn't do much to change any event, yet gets all the credit afterward for some reason. No idea what Hinata sees in this guy. How she doesn't follow her dad's advice and dump him for fear of her life is beyond me.
In the third season (Tenjiku arc), we again have some random gang that's apparently really strong but was never mentioned before at all acting as the big threat for this season, and predictably Mikey and Draken swoop in to save the day. The constant flashbacks to previous episodes and cuts to backstories of random characters tend to take away from the existing action on screen and pull you out of the excitement of the moment. Characters die throughout, because running with violent gangs tends to end up with deaths and murders. One particular character's death hit hard but I hate how the MC only wondered about that character's whereabouts in the present right before they get murdered in the past. Maybe he should have thought of that earlier instead of moments before they were murdered. I was looking forward to finding out how the season ends, but unfortunately, that isn't satisfying either. The main villain who was intriguing up until now and was manipulating things behind the scenes turns out to be a massive simp, so that's great.
It's not all bad. The OP and ED are good and memorable. Certain characters like Drakken, Chifuyu, and Mitsuya are pretty cool. I also liked the sibling dynamic between Mikey, Emma, Izana, and Sonichiro. The animation also looks nice. I also love the rule that you can only travel 12 years back in time from the exact day you left, making it impossible to undo events that happened 12+ years ago. However, it unfortunately isn't enough to save this anime from the problems it had in the previous two seasons which were aforementioned.
The plot feels like 2 stories in 1, and honestly, I would have preferred a straightforward gang wars show rather than a convoluted time travel plot. Remove the unnecessary flashbacks, recaps, and backstories, or show them in chronological order and you could probably package this into a movie. My suggestion is to avoid this season or skip to the end unless you're a big fan.
