Literally one of the best high school romcoms I have ever read.
It has one of my all time favorite couples that are so sweet, and wholesome (well mostly hehe), while also being very realistic and grounded.
The comedy is top tier too! It's not that often that I find myself actually laughing at loud at a manga (maybe I just haven't found the right ones?). And most of the comedy comes from the titular Ellie. She's so over-the-top and ridiculous (and soooooo pervy lmao), and even occasionally breaks the fourth wall, it's amazing.
Other than the main couple (that I just adore), the side cast is really
...
great too. They all have their own fleshed out personalities, and a few of them, mainly Ellie's best friend, Sara, get their own interesting side stories. But the side stories never feel unwelcome or too much, unlike other series I have read.
And to top it all off, the art is just absolute eye candy. Whoever said shoujo has bad art is clearly blind! Every character is so well drawn, distinctive, and full of emotion (and the smexy scenes were extremely well done!!).
I highly recommend this, so flipping good!!!

Let me preface this by saying that I initially had fun with the first couple of volumes of Georgie. I thought the premise was interesting and I love some drama, so it allowed me to overlook some of the glaring issues in the beginning. However, the ending ruined whatever goodwill I had left for the series. My 2 stars are purely for the gorgeous art at this point.
From the very first few chapters you will notice very bad pacing issues that continue throughout. The reader is constantly bombarded with characters falling in and out of love at the drop of a hat, psychos trying to
...
murder others for basically nothing, and the absolute worst decision making I have ever seen. Nothing that happens makes much sense. Like I said, I was initially willing to overlook all of that for some fun, but here's the kicker, this story is not fun. At all.
It's not long before the silly antics turn to dreariness and misery. We spend far too much time on watching every character we care about (or are supposed to) suffer in either physical or mental ways. And to top it all off, there isn't even a happy ending. I cannot stress enough how awful this ended up being.
My kudos goes to Yumiko Igarashi once again. Her art truly was a dream to look at. Her characters were so pretty, with backgrounds that looked almost photo realistic at times. I will definitely read other things that she has worked on, like maybe Candy Candy, since I know that the writer is different.

This series is such a classic, and I completely understand why. It's very much a typical shoujo, with all of the same trappings; love triangles; miscommunications; angst; friendships; etc. but I adore shoujo, and most of the cliches, so that was just a plus for me.
My favorite things about this story were definitely the characters, and their relationships (well most of them at least). Specifically the main romance between Miki and Yuu. They have a really great dynamic, and unlike other popular series at the time, the guy isn't a complete jerk, the most he ever does is just playfully tease Miki (which is always
...
adorable and relatable). Plus I'm a sucker for the step-sibling trope (Clueless anyone?), and the way it was done here was honestly pretty funny. The parents are so oblivious and selfish, they don't tell their children anything until the last minute, and they somehow never notice that their kids started going out, which wasn't all the subtle. I also just love Miki's best friend Meiko, well except for volume 3, she's such a bad friend in that one, at least she makes up for it later. Otherwise she's pretty great. She's there for Miki through all of the drama, and tries to help her through it, what more could you ask for?
The only things that I didn't like mainly involve the side characters. There's a romance that pops up between two if the main rivals, and I just hated it. In my opinion it was just needless filler, and I wish it wasn't there. I also didn't like how quickly Miki and Yuu fell in love, I wish it would've been more of a slow burn. Same amount of volumes, just cut out the filler plotlines, and put more focus on the two leads slowly starting to like each other, but that's just me.
Overall still a good manga, in case that wasn't obvious lolol. I would like to recommend the live action movie (from 2018), it introduced me to the story, and I think it's pretty good, and fun.

Years ago I watched the anime, I was probably 15, and I remember being so absolutely addicted to it. Naturally since I'm a big shoujo fan, I'd eventually want to check out the manga.
Let me just say, I acknowledge that this series has issues, but it was just so much FUN! The melodramatic story really worked for me, and I think that comes down to two major components, enjoyable characters, and a fantastic execution of the story. Normally I have such a hard time reading longer series, usually I get burnt out halfway through and I have to force myself to finish or just give
...
up. But this was different. And that's all because of the insanity and soap opera qualities the story has. You never quite know what'll happen next. I wasn't sure if the anime followed the manga closely or not, and I didn't remember everything that happened, so even I had that sense of anticipation.
I just love the dynamics between the characters too, they offer up one of the best love triangles that I have ever seen. We have Momo, who's our protagonist, and is torn between two guys throughout the. entire. story. It's unclear if she'll end up with her childhood best friend, Toji, or if she'll fall for the former player who has a heart of gold, Kairi. But we can't forget Sae, the "friend" of Momo who just wants to take everything from her, and keep if for herself. She always has some horrible scheme cooking, and sometimes she actually ends up victorious in her plans. The whole setup is just great.
There were moments that dragged, times the characters pushed my patience too far, and not every storyline was as interesting as the others, but that didn't really detract much from my own personal enjoyment. Overall it's a fun, if ridiculous series.
Side note, the live action movie is surprisingly good, I recommend it!

I've seen some very mixed reviews about this manga, people either highly praising it, or people saying it's overrated, but I personally really enjoyed it. It is kind of predictable, in regards to who she ends up with, but 95% of shows/anime/manga etc. are predictable in that way. I really liked how this manga has a very real outlook on love and how people change.
I liked most of the characters, especially the two leading guys, they're dreamy and made me love and feel sad for them when they were down. The MC was pretty realistic in my opinion, I can relate to Ninako A LOT,
...
I often can't fully understand how I feel about things, and am confused on how to approach certain problems. She was very mature in how she didn't, for even for a second, lead anyone on, and make them think that they had a chance. She was honest with the second lead, and I for one appreciated that.
The story was cute, and felt bittersweet at times. Mostly it's very fluffy, it's a good read if you don't want anything too serious, just something fun. It would have been a bit better in Ninako had other things she cared about instead of Ren, but it's still a nice, enjoyable story
I think the art was really amazing. Some manga I've looked at, the art was so sloppy that I could barely tell where the characters were or what I was supposed to be looking at. This one was pleasing to the eye, and really conveyed the characters feelings.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this manga. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a super cute love story, that with fill you with happiness
