Guilty Crown feels so typical with the usual protagonist, light romance, expose, and mecha battles. The main superpower of the story, King's Power or Guilty Crown, is introduced in such a haste that it's hard to grasp anything about it.
Music is excellent. Far above the level of any other anime of this type and time. Seriously. The insert song Euterpe is mind blowing.
It almost becomes a classy drama when you feel like both sides of the story are equally correct. In the initial episodes, you would think both sides could be believed to be good. But that soon changes, obviously. It's not an intense story
...
to have such a dramatic plot.
Everything's futuristic but security cameras are old-fashioned. They have to move to cover the entire area and that lets Funeral Parlor sneak up. Seriously?
Story is not clear. The screenplay looks confusing. Sometimes you won't know some tricks and witty twists of the story until they're fully exposed, which is a bummer. Due to this weak screenplay, the story loses a lot of its charisma.
As the story nears its end you can finally see how well scripted the whole story is. It becomes fast-paced, interesting, and a bit technical. The drama is very captivating. Let's draw some comparisons. I would say it's far below Death Note, but somewhat close to Steins;Gate.
Be ready for the usual tremendous increase of energy in the protagonist at times of loss or sorrow. Be ready for the usual "changing" of the protagonist into something else because of some loss or sorrow. Be ready for the usual side-characters-trying-to-get-the-protagonist-back-on-the-righteous-path-melodrama, a path he took because of some loss or sorrow. Oh you guessed that one.
In fact, be ready for anything you'd expect in a mecha shonen. Romance, betrayal, loss, vengeance, superpower bursts, friends, and some other things I cannot mention because that would be spoilers.
That said, Guilty Crown might look like a boring anime. But it's surprisingly not. Good to have some quality time. For me, well I almost dropped the anime twice even when I wasn't watching anything else but both the times I picked up it was pretty interesting to do so. I almost missed the anime.
Post episode 16, things become truly electrifying and intense. Add some mind blowing mecha action in that.
With the side arcs, one thing I figured out that the creators have tried to add a feeling of Death Note. Those moments when the arch cool rival type finally sees the power in action (L seeing Death Note in action -- wait did L see it in action? But well he knew at least), another cool rival type (Yu) is made to look like N. There are more similarities. And yes, in case you're wondering, almost everyone in the anime looks like a badass cool rival type at one point or the other -- even the protagonist. This is Cool Rival Types Crown for you. Yes I think I can really do honest anime trailers.

A beautiful story about unpopular people, friendless people, lonely people, people who hate other people, people who can't get along with other people, and so on. And somehow they all happen to be good looking. Makes one wonder how are they not popular.
Anyway, as I said, the story with its light romance is so beautiful. Good comedy, great character stories, but pretty typical characters. Normal music and average animation.
Okay so these are not spoilers, remember. Basically the story's course is that the girl doesn't want to be attracted to Haru because it works like a distraction in her studies and she can't make her grades
...
suffer more. What? I know. But she's not a complete bitch. You'll love her.
The romance takes a pretty realistic path. It seems that they're being unrealistically honest but the turns their relationship takes is very realistic. It's not based around a fairy tale setting or a romantic dream. It's much closer to real life where you're sure and unsure of things at the same time. Where you're in love but you're not displaying that. And everything isn't so smooth with all the fights and difference of opinions. It's a real and fun love story.
But after half a dozen episodes pass, you would sense they're overdoing things. Dude, that's enough time to reach a conclusion about whether it's a deal or not, especially when you got no other stuff or problem in the whole story. But it's overly stretched. At episode 8 sharp, I felt like "Why is he even trying? Just throw that bitch aside and get another girl."
I would say My Little Monster is an enjoyable anime you can pick up anytime, especially after you've braced some Clannad sort of stuff. It's got great comedy, a sweet romance, and beautiful characters.

Extremely witty plot. One thing that I loved right away was how well-calculated the main protagonist was from the very beginning. This very feeling started reminscensing me of classic detective novels.
Music (OST by Yoshihisa Hirano and Hideki Taniuchi) totally suits the plot and its dark, gloomy, and Satanic blend of uniqueness.
For some, the story's long explanatory dialogues in the beginning might seem a burden. But they're just clearing stuff so bear that.
Episode 1 itself is one hell of a Hollywood drama with its fast paced death scenes complimented further by the soundtrack.
The story will seem a bit slow-paced in the middle parts. They could've done
...
without extending the story so much with dialogues and thinking.
The story becomes too complicated and intense after the initial 10 episode. The whole concept of Death Notes, ownership transfer, and how Kira does all that stuff he does is just mind-bending. I really want to applaud Tsugumi Ohba and director Tetsurō Araki for scripting such a well thought-out story that beats the toughest of detective novels right out of the water.
The supernatural part relating to the gods of death is very deep and interesting too, and not just a side story to explain the powers of Death Note.
As much as it's interesting, the anime is equally depressing and sad, full of emotions around the last 10-15th episodes.
Story becomes pretty slow-paced and boring in the last few episodes. It's overstretched by putting emphasis on a dead wagon. Almost like they're refraining from the main war, the main plot, for those few episodes. Things pick speed back up after a while though.
The anime is accompanied by a very, very touching conclusion. It'll make Death Note a memorable experience of your life. Something you'll always get nostalgic with.

Golden Time is an excellent romantic story that has all you could desire from a classic bestselling romantic novel. It begins with a solid story, character relationships grow gradually, the plot is okay-ish in the beginning.
However, in the middle parts and after that -- the story becomes mother of Goku level beautiful. Seriously, there's no other word. As the story nears its end, you would be hard pressed to feel (if you're like me, that is) "Dude, don't give me a romantic tragedy. Had enough of them."
Keeping spoilers out of way there's nothing much I can elaborate on. In fact, other aspects like art and
...
characters don't make sense at all in the anime because the story is so beautiful after the middle part. It will just grip you. Needless to say, I watched it in one go and that's what you're going to do.
So, let's get a bit philosophical about it. What actually makes Golden Time an excellent romantic story? Basically, the protagonist's internal struggle. Don't worry, it might feel like you're reading some spoilers but they're not.
Internal struggle between two sides of himself -- pre-accident and post-accident where being conscious of one part means losing the other. It has been, in the very conclusion when you will be crying your eyeballs out (probably, not my thing) -- you'll see the whole point of the anime.
The creators have crafted two separate personalities and in the end, they satisfied both of them. In a way, you can say a conflict of ideas and personalities both managed to get satisfied in the end. This is the most beautiful thing about Golden Time.
Simply put, you'll love it. Best romantic anime I've watched in a while.

School Days. It's a disturbing psychological anime. You would go through multiple strong emotions while watching this, the primary one being hatred. Towards the end, you'll be like "Just kill this person already" (not going to spoil who) with each passing episode.
It begins with a typical romance. You would say it tries to be too typical, in fact, with a high school love triangle where friendships and relationships are delicate. Things progress.
Midway, the story becomes a bit thick. From a typical romance, it's now a high-level complicated high school drama. Quite the mind-bending type. It reflects reality to a great extent.
In the end, the story
...
becomes nasty. Basically, I asked for a lighthearted romcom with a happy ending in a Google+ community when someone recommended me this. My response to that someone after finishing it was:
I told you to give me a "lighthearted" show..... You gave me a dark, psychotic story...... I needed a "happy" ending......... You gave me a bloody disturbing ending............. Thanks to you, I'll be traumatized for the rest of my life.................. Thanks....................
That's School Days for you. I'm not sure whether everyone can take this. Please avoid any spoilers before you watch it. You would either love it or hate it to the core. I don't know whether the risk is worth taking.

I said the same thing for the first season: This is a masterpiece, brilliant, and so damn underrated anime.
Lovely characters and a realistic storyline make OreGairu 2 a fantastic anime. The technical (sort of like philosophical) approach to understanding life is what makes this anime stand out.
He's a guy who knows how life works. He knows how to solve problems alone by hurting himself. Because he's a nobody, no one would lose anything if he solves a problem by becoming an enemy. And trust me, the story is so touching because a couple of lovely girls DO lose something when he hurts himself.
He might sit
...
in a corner and avoid interaction, but he's more smart than most other people of his class. The best thing about this anime is that you'll learn a lot. The romance finally makes its appearance in this second season.
The story is very beautiful and thoroughly, extremely realistic. Hikki, in fact, is one of the finest characters ever crafted for a romantic, realistic slice of life anime.

This is a masterpiece, brilliant, and so damn underrated anime. Let's see how.
First, the characters are lovely and strange. They take the story to an offbeat level. No typical romantic comedy stuff, no exaggerated expressions, no normal talk at all. People like to call Hachiman and Yukino philosophers but I don't think that's right.
So basically, the anime is about how you deal with life. Loneliness, friends, society, and the "methods" of solving problems. You won't find anything interesting if you're not good with appreciating a philosophical approach to life.
But if you're like me and a bit different than the rest, THIS IS THE ANIME BITCHES.
...
BETTER WATCH IT BEFORE YOU DIE AND THANK ME LATER. SERIOUSLY. I AM SO DAMN SERIOUS TRUST ME.
I cannot put my limited knowledge to any use here to tell you whether you will like it or not. You have try watching and either love it or drop it.

The manga was a full blast of perverted ecchi drama and excessive fanservice. It was so good I recommended it to a lot of people for its pointless harem. But the anime disappointed me, which was totally unexpected.
I dropped the anime midway. Plus, I read the manga first. So this review might be a bit biased.
First of all, new harem characters are introduced way too fast. There's not a solid background story or reasoning that supports anything or any claim in this anime. If you like excessive fanservices and pointless perverted drama, I would surely recommend it. But you still could be disappointed.
The story lacks
...
a structure. There's no point in anything at all. There are a lot of social and geographical blunders that I can't even target without making this review a couple thousand words long so let's skip that.
This anime, thus, is below true harem. Characters are okay-ish. Art and music are way too poor.

If it wasn't for the great animation and fighting scenes, I would've given this 6/10. Absolute Due isn't a great anime. It's not even a respectable harem. The protagonists are far too predictable. His roommate and their relationship is too typical. But the story and the struggles in it are realistic and interesting.
The story is pretty good. The whole concept of Blazes as soul powers and Exceeds and Units and whatever doesn't quite make sense to me. But they try to explain it so it basically just depends on how much attention you're paying to Wikipedian speeches throughout the anime when you know you're sitting
...
there to watch some real ecchi scenes that's all.
If the concept was interesting, of course you would listen. But it's not. There's nothing special in fights. Swords. Rifle. Guns. Shield. Been there, done that.
Long story short, Absolute Duo is interesting enough to pass some quality time and not regret it. But I seriously doubt I would ever look out for the second season or rewatch it.

A fair harem story. But it's too typical. Based on monsters, magic, high school, and harem -- you know what it's going to be. Even so, there's a good enjoyment in this anime.
The characters aren't all too great. I still can't figure out a lot of things like why do they have those rules in the school that no one can tell somebody else what's their true form. The jealousy thing is a bit too serious in this anime.
Some shortcomings of the story:
-Where on Earth is this thing situated?
-The school seems pretty small but as the story proceeds, it kind of fleshes out in the
...
number of students and classes. This seems pretty weird.
-Come on, there's no patrolling or security outside campus considering this whole area belongs to monsters? Students can practically go a bit farther than school, transform into their monster states, and freaking kill each other and no one says anything. How absurd.
One thing that made the story stand out was that it's not an intense story even if it's filled with superpowers and monsters. In other words, no one actually dies. Even enemies become friends later on. So it's a pretty okay-ish story. Things get better from the next season so it's not too bad to watch it.
