The mighty and terrifying power of the media, propelling some to fame, power and stardom. While Oshi no ko is a dark take on the world of the entertainment industry, Starship Operators is a sci fi tale with strong parallels to crowd funding. The titular characters are cadets on a starship whose planet is conquered by its powerful neighbor and surrenders immediately. But rather than turn themselves in with their superiors, the crew gets funding from the galactic news network to carry on an insurgency campaign that becomes a popular reality TV show. But having combat live-streamed is not all fun and games when the enemy is watching too…

You're traveling to another dimension. A dimension not only of sight and sound but of food and drink. Through a wooden door you find yourself in a restaurant that appears once every seven days. It's proprietor does his best to make guests happy. But if you step out from the elevators, you find yourself in an bar, with a proprietor bent on discovering the inner working of your soul through a series of games. In either place you will also meet a charming female assistant. But be warned, the restaurant's fantastic food will leave you addicted for more, waiting for the door to appear again. While the bar is your last stop as you depart this world for the afterlife, or the black beyond. Although the setting and structure of these shares are very similar, one is more of comedy/slice of life, while Death Parade is a psychological thriller. I would recommend Death Parade first, then Restaurant as a palate cleanser.

i watched the shows back-to-back (for...reasons..) and they are weirdly similar. The male and female main characters are both in semi-toxic relationships; together its them vs. the World. Sure, in one its the people of tokyo caught in the crossfire of a death game, while in the other its the Montagues & Capulets of Neo-Verona. But at the end of the day you're left to ponder the meaning of love.

If you like war dramas but are tired of giant mechs or high fantasy elements, then these are the shows for you. The characters in Alderamin and Tanya are front line junior officers in their respective wars fighting just to survive. While they both have subtle magic elements, Tanya is darker with a more prominent MC while Alderamin has more humor and a bigger ensemble cast.

Both are Isekai shows where the MC fortuitously becomes the head of a nation/faction with lots of politicking. Both also contain a broad multi-ethnic/racial cast of characters competing for political power.
