The biggest sin is the pacing and the power creep. The pacing for this show is only topped by the incredible power creep of the MC. No matter what the MC faces he never really is in danger, it may appear he is in danger but he always has another trick up his sleeve two minutes later that makes him win. The same comes with cunning plans where because of all his secret mcguffins that he can insert himself into every situation to his benefit. You really need to avoid this one, it is just terrible.

There are better shows that do this with ... a more likable MC that is handled better even if they're brokenly OP. I am not going to go into the animation or the audio or other aspects. Because they're middle of the road or lower and the plot can't carry them nor can they carry the plot.

This is not an action anime. If you are looking for smash monsters and things go boom turn back now.
This anime is more nice in the unique societal structures in Japanese companies and society and how a small group of people in a tiny corporation have to navigate this trying to solve a big problem with a small budget.

Without getting into spoilers. The show is a slow burn building up and developing the characters within it. If you like plot development and character development this is a good show for it. (At least as of episode 10/12)
E: Having finished episode 11 and 12 I ... dropped the rating a little bit. Its an okay anime, but the ending felt rushed and "mcguffined". Its still an alright anime, but the ending really kind of soured it slightly.

If the idea of seeing a mecha have to carefully conserve its ammo to kill a monster without going in the red for budget costs appeals to you at all. I'd recommend it. The show has a bit of humor and sincerity to it equally mixed together. You'll come to cheer on the small rag tag company, Hato Industries, as they try and secure funding to investigate the island and try to retake it from the monsters that have begun to appear while navigating larger corporate conglomerates and beasts alike.

E: The CGI for monsters is ugly, they're not the main focus but I was able to look beyond it. Most of the show is fine besides that.

Sleeper hit of the year. Too many people are missing out on this one. I was a little skeptical going in about what it would be, but the story's unique characters, art, world, and story itself quickly pulled me into it.

If you like action adventure and shounen you're sure to enjoy it, but it also does more than that at the same time. It is hard for me to put into words what this show subtly does but all expectations were quickly subverted.

Enjoy the world building, the rich cast of characters, the art great intro outros, and of course the story itself! Series is definitely ... worth a watch and can't wait for next season.
