Maybe I'm biased, maybe I'm not...But Totally Captivated is one of the best yaoi stories I've read. The story, set in the 'underworld' as the protagonist likes to believe, is really well constructed. The art is beautifully draw, with a few disproportions here and there, but overall, very well done.
The protagonist, Ewon played the desperate seme first, but did a 180 turn and became the sought-after uke. He rocked both roles. It would be nicer to see some more desperation after he got dumped, but the desperation came back later in the story. He's, by my standards, a pretty well-developed, well thought of character.

oh Mookyul. Smexy Mookyul, with the designer clothes, and the cash that matches his million dollar face. A sort-of brute seme, with a really dark secret, that gives him that extra depth in his character, which isn't revealed until the very end, meaning that the story doesn't drag, and the writer doesn't prolong it for more than it needs to be prolonged.
Storyline: It's longer than most manga, but there are always obstacles in their way. There are false climaxes that leave the audience in suspense, and funny parts to lift their spirits. I'd say that it was very well done.

Another bad review from me! Anyway, my most important question is this; WHAT IS THE POINT OF LUCKY STAR?!!
For half of one episode, and another, all they talk about is the direction of chocolate cones....That doesn't add depth into it at all. In fact, it's kind of pointless. There's no direction in which the plotline is going...Instead, they're talking about what kind of bikini to wear for a third of the episode.
Characters...Ah the characters. In this one, I really have NOTHING to say about the characters, because I KNOW nothing about them. There's the twins, the big-boobed nerd, and the protagonist, who's incoherent half

the time...Oh wait, they ALL are. It's okay to have comedy, but really? The mangaka focuses more on comedy than the actual story. Way to go.
It's not very enjoyable just to watch girls go on and on about cellphones, lunches, and whatever crap they feel like. It's like math...It goes on and on. Repetition is NOT the foundation for a good story.
The art is good....I'm always won over by pretty art, but the mangaka has to work on character development, and plot. Please?

Although the art was fantastic, it was unsuccessful in trying to cover up the mediocre plotline, and unoriginal characters. Hikari is like every other shoujo character; she's kind, energetic, pretty, feminine, smart and yet boyish at the same time. The only fault that the mangaka tries to portray is that she's dense, which isn't really that big of a fault. Basically, she's too perfect, and she has two guys chasing her after the first five episodes. She fits a category of 2D characters; Mary Sue. The storyline is also unoriginal. Oh yeah, the girl can't be too perfect, so a guy character ALWAYS has to

beat her. Most of us can't even possibly achieve 2nd place in a prestigious school, have time to flirt and fool around, AND do competitive fighting. Do they even LEARN anything in the class? All that happens is that they lounge around drinking tea and having fun, which is probably the opposite of a special class.
Oh a guy HAS to fall in love with her, but if she liked him back, that wouldn't make a story. So the mangaka tosses in density, which is very much stereotypical. It's just uneventful, with the audience waiting for the 'big kiss' which isn't very surprising. I haven't watched all of it, but I can guess that they'll kiss at the last episode, with fireworks, and everyone's happy! The end.
Big whoop'd do. Anyone can write a clichéd story like that. It's boring, especially when the audience watches it over and over again. Instead, couldn't the main character be ugly? Or maybe dumb? Just something that makes her different from other shoujo characters, because I swear, they're all the same with different names. That's it.
Now, onto Takashima Kei. He's hot, smart, rich, and athletic, but with a bad attitude that doesn't make readers dislike him, it just makes him even more lusted-after. Another stereotypical character. The hottie of the school HAS to fall in love with the protagonist. It's like...The unbreakable rule in clichéd stories. He's almost exactly like Hikari, only just an introvert. Huh, that'll be like falling in love with yourself...Scary.
Naturally, the audience knows little to NOTHING about the supporting characters(unless they go to Wikipedia). Y'know why? Because the protagonist HAS to take the spotlight all the fricken time. If the protagonist isn't in a single episode, it might as well be a CRIME for all the fan girls that protest. Basically, the supporting characters' lives SURROUND the protagonist, like they have no life of their own. Just mindless drones that follow Hikari's every word.
It's criminal to have sympathy to the guy driving the fated couple apart! Y'know why?...I don't either. Why does the guy/girl that tries to drive the other couples away flawed? He's got ALL the flaws that the protagonist and antagonist don't have. He's so flawed that he's also 2D. Why can't the guy be funny, entertaining, and not extremely mean to the point where we want to kill him?
My point is only this; PRETTY ART CANNOT COVER UP MARY SUE CHARACTERS AND CLICHÉD PLOTLINES!
