It's a very cool show. In fact, it's too cool to the extent that people aren't going to like it. I predict a similar case to Chainsaw Man, where people only engage with it at a surface level and are too distracted by all the wild things happening to appreciate it or pay attention to the story. Anyways, fantastic art direction and animations. It's no surprise when you look at the studio behind it. Also, this is a very Japanese show. One of the most bizarre Manga of all time. Oku is clearly not trying to tell a deep story that is going to change the way you think about the world, but instead just packing a manga full of things he simply enjoys. It should be read with that in mind. Seeing A giant titty woman bust out the innards of a horrifying cosmic entity is something I can only expect from a manga written by Oku. Itou Junji: Collection
(Anime)

I wanted to write a small review explaining why I gave this anime a 7/10. There are very few decent horror anime, and while it is definitely true that all these stories work much better as manga, it was still enjoyable and scary to watch compared to other horror anime. It is all credited to the creativeness of Junji Ito's mind. If this anime used this same format with less compelling stories, I would have rated it MUCH lower. Fortunately for the producers, they were using Ito's stories and character designs. Ito's genius is the only thing keeping this anime from being trash.

Oyasumi Punpun
(Manga)
add
Oyasumi Punpun is undoubtedly my favorite piece of art to be crafted by human hands. Big praise, I know. If I were to completely describe not only why I like Oyasumi Punpun, but also why I think it should be considered the best manga of all time, this review would be untastefully too long. Instead, I'll just stick to the basics.
Story: The story itself is something that isn't too complicated for the average manga/anime consumer to follow, yet it is still packed with detail and beautiful depictions of esoteric concepts. These concepts include the workings of human minds, the potential impact of relationships, and the ... |
