I cannot believe that my final rating for this show is only 7. It started out incredible strong (great music, great storytelling, perfect pace, incredible fights, superb animation, interesting characters) - what else do you want?
I honestly don't even remember when it was the last time I was so excited about a show. Everything looked so perfect and high quality. It cannot get any better, I thought.
For me it went downhill with episode 7. Suddenly the pace was rushed, the emotional scenes were cheesy (and not subtle and smart like earlier), the show started to look more shounen-ish, the fights became silly and
...
not as well animated and choreographed compared to earlier episodes, the animation wasn't as clear, smooth and beautiful either. The big revelation about the box of Sirius ... well, I don't want to spoil. I'm just sitting here and wondering why this show was able to fool me in thinking this would be something special, something great, something perfect.
The end was cheesy and predictable. A beloved character died. I thought they wouldn't go down that route, because it's too cliche. Boy, was I wrong! The big bad guy transformed into a funny looking monster ... seriously. I don't understand what happend. Budget problems? Or were different people working on this? This show had some incredible storytelling and some very smart and deep dialouges. At the end it was just cheesy and superficial. Watching the last episodes I constantly raised my eyebrows in disbelieve. What remains is a depressing feeling of disappointment.
Whatever. I enjoyed it after all, but I cannot bring myself to rate it higher.

It's a good anime. Watching the first episodes I even thought this would be a masterpiece. At the end I cannot bring myself to rate it higher, because the conclusion wasn't that great. I watched a lot of psychological anime in my life and even though the Japanese do a great job when it comes to horror, mystery and psychological works in general, they handle mental illnesses strangely. it's difficult to enter the mind of a serial killer, I know, but honestly ... he stopped killing because of ...? I don't want to spoil.
The MC goes back in time to prevent his classmate getting
...
killed. His adult self is in a child body so he has not much possibilities to save her. I get that. He did his best. But later on he plans to save all the other girls? At that point I thought this plan will not work. The killer could have just looked for different victims. Appearantly he did not.
Overall the anime was entertaining, suspensful and at the end everything came together nicely. It's just that I have a hard time believing this "killer" and how they caught him after so many years. On a side note: I didn't like how one of his friends (Kenya) behaved so mature when he was supposed to be 10 years old. This was just extremely unrealistic. The whole group of friends was a bit unbelievable. Everything was rainbows and sunshine. How Satouro changed everyone's life was a bit cheesy too.
I'm really conflicted here. With a better end (or a better killer) I would give this a higher rating for sure.

This is a hidden gem.
I didn't know about it until the new anime came out. And boy, did I miss something! Yeah, it's old. Yeah, the animation isn't that great, but honestly, the mood, the atmosphere, the storytelling just made up for it. I give this 10 well deserved stars. It makes you think, makes you feel, makes you question the meaning of life. No, I'm not exaggerating. It really is this great. This anime made it easily in my top 10 favorite anime of all time. Everything about this is so calm, relaxing, sad (in a good way) and beautiful at the same

I have a hard time rating this. If you enjoy crying then go for it. When it was finished I felt like there were many questions unanswered which I didn't like. In general it was a good anime with great art. But the tears ... I shed many tears, it made me incredible sad without touching me deeply in my heart. It's hard to explain. Sometimes after watching a great series you feel like you learned something about life and it's almost satisfying to cry about it. Violet Evergarden just made me sad, sad and sad. I didn't think it was worth watching after I
...
finished it, or that my life now is richer. Honestly, I didn't even enjoy it. There are many series out there that make you think, make you feel, get you excited. This just made me sad. I know, I'm saying the same things over and over again. So why the high rating? Objectively speaking it was a good series and it would be a shame to rate it lower. I'm sure many people out there did enjoy it. Maybe the concept of losing someone you love is just too devastating for me.

Not a show for adults.
This show is ... horrible. It really amazes me how horrible it is. Other people said they don't know what's the goal of the show, where the story is going - I don't know either, and I don't want to know at this point.
The truth is, whoever wrote this mess is capable of really good storytelling. Darling in the FranXX(X) had some great moments, also some great fights. (I got emotional several times, at least at the beginning.) This could have been a masterpiece, but they decided to make it trashy instead. The fanservice is unbearable. I was not
...
bothered by a naked woman in the first episode at all, I was bothered by a strange fluid that makes women's clothes melt, so that the boys could see their private parts. That's too cheap even for a hentai anime. I don't see how anyone in his right mind can give this a good review. It's just ridiculous and really childisch. Maybe this show is made for horny teenagers? I don't know. The way how they potrayed love in general was very questionable and not to my liking. It seems love = sex. Well, romantic love without sex doesn't work, but there should be some room for character development and emotion. How a homosexual character suddenly helped a girl getting pregnant was irritating too. This show is shallow and one of the worst I have ever seen. I don't think you can learn a single thing watching this. Not to mention that the plot is repetitive. Hiro and Zero Two get seperated, they ride together (orgasm), they get seperated, they ride together (stronger then ever with the best orgasm ever). It's that kind of teenage show drama I have a hard time to endure without rolling my eyes.
Don't waste your time with this garbage. And don't get deceived by the first episodes. At the beginning I was impressed too, but it got downhill with lightening speed.

The world has gone crazy, no doubt about that! I came across a Youtube video with Nina and the king. I'm not into romance anime (Toradora and Lovely Compelx are the only romance shows I ever enjoyed, and I liked the romance in Blood+), but this looked promising, the art was gorgeous. So I watched the anime.
To make it short, Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul was GREAT. The storytelling was flawless. It was smart and mature. I was constantly on the edge of my seat. I binge watched it in one day and did not skip a second (which is very rare for me).
To
...
see that the highest rated review for this series on MAL was written by a guy who thinks some (disgusting looking) hentai series is the shit (he gave it a 9 out of 10 and found it intriguing, while Shingeki only deserved 4 stars in his opinion) is disappointing to say the least.
The characters were all well written and very interesting. They were complex (even Nina) and the interactions were written incredible well. They all had connections to each other and developed deep bonds. It was a joy to see how everything played out. The script writer has a lot of talent when it comes to potraying emotions and writing characters with distinctive personalities. I coudn't list a single thing that disappointed me in this anime. Everything came together so well.
Like I said, the world has gone crazy, if a work like this gets such bad reviews. It's like someone telling you, the moon is green. Seriously, it's not. And this series is not bad either, it was amazing.
