I had partially read the manga before diving into the anime, which I would highly recommend at least glancing at because the first few chapters explain the setup of the world and background far better than the anime, which just throws you straight into the fray..
If you take it as more a comedy it's far more enjoyable. But if you try to take this anime seriously you will ultimately be disappointed and frustrated as it follows a lot of generic male-protagonist isekai and harem tropes.
What I find refreshing about this story is that the protagonist actually lives up to his name, yeah he's overpowered,

I think my favourite thing about this anime is it's sense of humour. It's VERY nerdy but does make an effort to explain what they're talking about, which I can appreciate, although it does get a little annoying at times. The characters are a little charming although lacking in emotional depth.
This is your typical clumsy baka-couple that are both too shy to openly express or admit their feelings for each other, going through your typical anime rom-com misunderstandings and some good old jealousy bombs along the way. It does get VERY CRINGEY at times but sometimes you can't help it with a story like this and ... Mar 17, 2020

I tried to hold on with this one hoping it would get better, but the story is just a bit all over the place, with characters that are mysterious, yet boring and I don't feel any particular attachment to them, in fact I could say that I don't particularly like some of them.
I feel like this had potential to be good but just lacked any kind of depth and tried to keep stringing along it's audience with 'mystery' but it's just the same character elements over and over.. Might pick this up again after some time off it.. but it was just too much of ... Mar 17, 2020
Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge

A very nice laid back slice-of-life anime that is pleasant to watch.
Watching Tanaka-kun is somewhat healing in the same way cat cafes are. The story is very simple and the characters have fairly interesting yet very ordinary personalities, it's fun seeing them interact and react in different scenarios. Reminds me somewhat of Shirokuma cafe just without all the animals and in a school setting. Very relatable if you have any kind of anxiety, it's nice to see a character like Tanaka be so true to his nature and I do find Ohta somewhat adorable too. Take your time with this one, it's a great one to sit ... Feb 17, 2020

Ok, I'll admit while I love the manga and felt like I wanted more out of the anime from 2001.. I was NOT super into this remake when it first came out. The fear of remakes turning out awful overtook my better judgement, and I took a long time to watch the first half of this season.
However, once I got past most of the parts of the story I remembered and the character introductions, I found myself opening up to this remake quite happily and taking my time to enjoy the episodes (and the really nice music) It does a really good job of setting the ... Feb 12, 2020
Dororo the anime does a great job of taking you on a journey through the story of Hyakkimaru, a child born cursed without any limbs, eyes or skin. The story is a very Japanese, focusing on war, tragedy and the supernatural ayakashi/yōkai themes that pair well alongside the human drama that is prevalent throughout the anime which constantly questions the morality of the characters and their choices.
While some animes that feature stories about ayakashi and yōkai can sometimes throw too much folklore at you just to hurriedly exterminate them in batches, they actually fitted nicely in to this story without feeling unnecessary or overwhelming ... Dec 8, 2019

I'm seeing too many reviews praising this movie.. but for me, it didn't live up to the manga.
Obviously with any manga to anime adaptation things are cut, especially when it comes to movies, but for me there are moments that lack the same depth they carried in the manga. Great art, animation and music, but the characters and the story are not as fleshed out as they were in the manga, and this movie didn't make me cry. I cried reading the manga and it was the first time a manga had actually made me bawl, so I thought this movie would be emotionally significant to ... Dec 8, 2019
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun

True to the manga, which is still ongoing.
The classic shoujo-comedy-romance that makes fun of the genre while also fitting completely into that genre. This anime throws stereotypes from shoujo manga at you and then works them into jokes, I enjoy the sense of humour in this show, very deadpan. I could probably rewatch this again and again similarly to how I constantly re-read the manga. I love the tease moments that make you think something will happen for Sakura and Nozaki, although the main thing that keeps this show going is the fact that they will never get together.. or will they? I prefer Hori-senpai in the ... Oct 18, 2019
I rate this anime all-around good. I would obviously prefer more time spent on developing the characters in long arcs.. but that's something I imagine I can refer to the manga for... despite the weird CGI monsters (which I actually didn't mind cause some of them didn't look awful to me?) and the OP-ness of the protagonist I actually enjoyed this anime. It gets to a point where he's just gathering an entourage though really but I like to see a strong protagonist actually deliver. Of course all the girls fancy him he's strong! But he only has eyes for his one girl and

The story for this OVA is mostly focused on Rin and a bit of her background story.
It covers the weird time gap between episodes 8 and 9 of Hana no Uta, so that's when I watched it, and it seems to be the perfect timing plot wise to watch it, as I imagine if you watched this before watching Hana no Uta, then it would be hard to grasp the characters and such as they are only very briefly explained or mentioned in this OVA. Very typical of the shounen, action, fantasy genre. I personally like this kind of art style, although I haven't read the ... |
