This Gintama ending made me emotional. The show peaked for me in the final serious arcs, and I enjoyed every character interaction and gag on-screen.
There is something about Gin verbally confirming that he needs Shinpachi and Kagura, and the other bonds in his life to go on which kills me. Humans are social creatures, and witnessing the family that he has built around himself creates for tear-jerking moments.
I think Gintama can teach us all about the significance of having family-like friends in our lives. In this short ride on Earth, everyone deserves to experience and reciprocate the kind of love that Gin is blessed with.

There is a reason why comedy is my favorite genre. When there are the rare sincere moments, they feel more heartfelt, and emotional. In S1 when the Winter Shogun beheaded Kazuma, we see that without realizing Kazuma tears up when he is about to be reincarnated into a world without his friends.
I think sometimes the heart knows better than the brain. But sometimes those emotions get the best of us and make us say or do things which we typically wouldn't. I think this happened a lot, or was at least shown on screen much more than typical in the film. I felt Kazuma's
...
bonding with Aqua and Megumin in this film. They are so vulnerably close to each other. This kind of friendship is love too.
I loved the dialogue when Kazuma was giving his introduction to Megumin after she thanked him. It reminds me of what I want from my life.
"I'm Satou Kazuma. Axel's weakest adventurer, and foremost at getting into trouble! He who will obtain the wealth to spend his days having fun with the rest of you!"

What a fucking beautiful show! I absolutely love the message and the vibe of the show. The comedic timing. The audio. The intro, outro. It fits my vibe for an anime so much and I have never seen anything like it. It had caught my eye the very first time I saw a teaser about it, and my expectations have been met as well as exceeded.
I'm so glad I watched this show. Oh yeah, I love the message that we should live everyday like it's our last. I've been thinking about WLB, and learning to enjoy living and being happy. I think this is
...
one of the best shows that encapsulates the idea of the "Pursuit of Happiness". Happiness is a state of mind. It's not really a goal. I FUCKING LOVE IT WOOOOO!
Update:
Merry Christmas! Before this show, One Punch Man was the only show that caught my attention from just the name and poster. I had a strong feeling that I would like this show. And I was right! They both are Top 3 shows for me. I still completely agree with my old review. I think we can all strive to be like Akira. Physically fit, conscious of our dreams, carpe diem :)

Phenomenal show. Can't recall a single thing which logically puts this show below anything else. It just so happens that I personally never watch Slice of Life shows. I rarely like them. But with the mind-blowing animation and genuinely great comedy, it deserves a 9 at the very least. Not much for me to say regarding the show, but episode 8 was really memorable.
The show felt real throughout, and the expressions were understandably exaggerated at points. Otherwise, I would just watch a Netflix TV show. It felt like one of those few times where I actually did NOT care about the story. I enjoyed
...
the characters' interactions, and what the animators have done with it. The love that went into ensuring correct depictions of guitar playing and using different drawing styles depending on the scene was impeccable.

this show is so so so fucked up... oh so fucked up... yet i cannot give it less than a 9. everything makes sense after giving it some actual thought. on the surface-level it seems like the fucked up story and visuals only exist for the shock factor. but that really could not be further from the truth. a truly dark and thoughtful show. sadly i found some bits of lore and detail impossible to fully appreciate or understand without insightful comments
the only anime which i have been afraid to continue watching. it genuinely made me fearful and i had to lie to myself saying
...
"eh riko n all can just die. they dont care anyways so why should i. i should just sit back and look at their journey"

An absolutely mid anime with brief moments of hilarity. The overall premise is solid in my opinion, but the original plot line is barely developed in this season! Although my major thoughts regarding the show haven't changed much, it is insane to look back on the episodes and realize that there has been no development for Operation Strix. In the first season at least the family came together, got admission and a Stella star was earned. This season a cute floofer joined the Forgers. Great! But how does that help the mission again?
Some characters are really well-done. Some characters got on my nerves because of
...
how over-popularized and cheap they turned out to be. I'm fine if I receive criticism for this but Anya comes to mind regarding the latter. She felt brainless throughout, which is understandable for a first grader, but nonetheless annoying. I'm glad that her catchphrases "waku waku" were not overused to the point that I had to pull out my hair with rage, but her childishness (even though I like children) got too much. For example, in the episode where George Glooman was being sent off, Anya gives him a leaf. A leaf. Also, when he requests his classmates to include him in the choir song, Anya immediately questions Becky when she initiates singing. It is clear to me that a lot of effort went into making her as 'cute' as possible. Her being remarkably shallow in comparison to her classmates. Referring to herself in third person. Exaggerated facial expressions. Cute character portrayal. But having a good heart at the end of the day as seen during the Suicide Doggers Arc.
But on a more light-hearted note, I did mention some characters were well-done! For me, they were the e l e g a n t headmaster, Twilight, Yuri Briar, and Nightfall. Episodes which focused on them are excellently done in my opinion, and I don't think I would be getting bored of them anytime soon.
I have a suspicion that a majority of my dislike for this show stems from the fact that I struggle to appreciate Slice of Life genre. I'm only able to judge this anime for its story and comedic value. But as mentioned before, since the former is so insignificantly developed in this second season, I'm still only rating this based on the 'entertainment' value.

One of those shows which seems to get almost everything right, but still doesn't feel like a masterpiece. Nonetheless, some episodes throughout the series are an absolute blast to watch. It is lovely to see the themes of forgiveness and friendship being retold in different ways. Initially elves and humans are proposed to be rivals, hence the war. Then it appears that devils are evil. Then later in the season, after we get to know more about Asta's devil, we have to rethink that notion.
Those feelsgood moments really make me want to mark the show a 10. But there are flaws. Aside from
...
the obvious, i.e. animation in earlier episodes, the pace at times is agonizingly slow, and other times just perfect. So, for me, the overall story and even soundtrack makes up for the bumps here and there. In fact, I'm going to read the manga because I'm terribly interested in Asta and Liebe's relationship as well as Yuno's growth.
I want to mention other points of the story which I felt were phenomenal and really sold the show for me (in no particular order):
1. Captain squad meeting after end of reincarnated elves arc, when finances of the kingdoms were brought up
2. Showing growth of all characters by time-skipping 6 months as opposed to random missions to fight random villains in that time frame
3. Keeping non-stage 0 characters as almost useless in the battles against Dante. But still being realistic by telling the audience that Vanessa just couldn't fight because despite her training, they were just in different leagues. Also the true nature of Grey's magic is hinted as opposed to the author pulling out a super powerful spell out of his ass to K.O. him.
4. The anime really highlighted the true terror of devils as opposed to portraying the heroes as being able to take care of them at all (because of plot armour)
5. Author decided to make Asta's devil magic-less initially as opposed to being OP devil (unlike Naruto, in a way). Also the explanation of why he ended up getting anti-magic is pretty justified too.
Wish there was more, but the series ended on a wonderful note :)
