Looking for that mediocre romance comedy to fill that void in your soul? Then Tonikaku Kawaii might just be what you want. I'll be honest, there is no real reason for you to watch this. The story line is plain and simple, the animations are okay, unmemorable characters, etc.
Nevertheless, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll regret watching this. I'd describe Tonikaku Kawaii as a series about an average(ish) man marrying and doing date stuff with an "ideal" anime waifu, and that's it. The series is as superficial as it gets and believe it or not some people, including myself, wouldn't mind watching that.
What makes
...
Tonikaku Kawaii slightly better than other mediocre shows is that it at least puts some effort into creating a deeper narrative within the series and the story gives you the sense that it leads somewhere. basically it's not just random things every episode. This deeper narrative is simple and isn't developed during the series that much. But, in my opinion, it makes the show a little more interesting anyway.
At the end of the day, Tonikaku Kawaii is a show that is slightly cringe, has basically no interesting characteristics yet still manages to provide a reasonably entertaining romantic comedy.

The only genre this film would fit in is 'school' and nothing else. Watch it if you enjoy staring at screensavers.
Hopefully that is enough to give you the gist of the movie but honestly I had nothing better to do and watched it knowing it would be mediocre at best. I think because the movie tried to be dramatic but failed in every aspect, it ended up being entertaining to me anyway, but thats because im braindead.
I think the main plot definitely had potential. The idea is that the main characters were involved in the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami back in 2011 and, while admittedly
...
not the most original concept, could have still made for a nice drama. It isn't that for two reasons: the characters and the story.
The characters are about as bland as the animation. The animation is kinda meh. The personalities of the main characters, in what I think is an attempt to make them look melancholic and troubled, only come out having flat character arcs. Heck even the ending (I won't spoil) felt like a cheap gimmick and not to mention it was very much predictable. So predictable in fact, it was exactly how I imagined it would end, frame by frame. It matched my prediction so well it's my favorite part. Probably because I have no life.
Next it the Tohoku earthquake. If you blink for one second during this movie you might miss this. The tragedy contributes so little to the story I'm pretty sure that was just there so they could put it in the description and lure idiots like me. In short they weren't even trying.
Then we have the story progression. It honestly surprised me that I would only realize something important happened way after it occured in the movie. The film is only 50 minutes long I have no idea how they manage to fail to get my attention.
But it had less cringe than I thought it would so bonus points for that?

Nothing happens, it's like a season of specials.
BokuBen was all about the cheesy semi-harem but also a bigger goal, tutoring the girls in the respective subjects to follow their dream careers. It was their cute, comical struggles and overcoming those hardships that made me love the show. There was an interesting story, there was character development, some suspense, dramma, it was all in all a good show. I mean it wasn't perfect but it was enough for me to watch the second season, and boy did it have to be good.
If you haven't guessed by now I think season two sucked ass. Not only does
...
nothing happen, all you get is cheap jokes and just heaps of shit. Of course a little is actually good, hell even a lot, as long as there is the all important plot progression, which there isn't, well there is *very* little of it.
All in all, I felt like I was being forced to watch this show. I know it sounds crazy but it was season one that kept me going, hoping that maybe something, anything interesting would happen, and... yeah not much really hell if you were thinking on watching but now you aren't sure, just watch the last 3 or 4 episodes.

I'm confident pretty much nobody is going to read this but I write.
Wow, a 10?? Ok, my brain could be fried but this to me is one of the best slice of life— actually one of the best anime of all time, and here is why:
It's a slice of life so I wasn't expecting a deep story, but the Working series has the perfect amount. There is even a proper beginning, middle and end. The show takes its time to slowly bring the characters together, with the little events they have in that restaurant, all building up to the end; such a rewarding end
...
too. To avoid spoilers I move on.
The characters, Just amazing. They have such a complexity about them you almost think you know them personally. It is rare for me to connect so much with shows and definitely not in a slice of life. Yet I was so immersed in it that I felt sadness, pitty, happiness whenever the characters did. Inside I was cheering for their success, and get angry when they chicken out, but also enjoy their innocence.
All I talked about was emotion but this is a comedy show after all. I love how the jokes would only work with those characters and no one else. Some of the gags are pretty funny but it usually needs the moe support. The real comedy is the characters cute attempts at getting together, which I can see why it might not be everyone's thing.
Animations are crisp (I would say perfect for this series) and sound is great too. the ending was superb but not quite perfect (although to be fair its not easy to wrap up such an amazing series). Also the subtitles were sometimes different from the actual dialogue which I guess didn't interfere too much with the story but it kind of pissed me off. Thoroughly enjoyed the series, going to rewatch it again soon.

Basically a teen love comedy, except you turbo boost the teen part. And honestly it isn't as bad as it sounds.
I was actually surprised by how in depth the story and some of the characters were. There was real conflict and the characters weren't just superficial blobs of cliché. Of course this is no masterpiece, actually it's very far from that, but it was still somewhat enjoyable nonetheless.
What makes this show 'unique' is its focus on the chaotic frustrations of the teenager. What is sex? Am I sexually attracted to person A? What does that mean anyway? Are some examples of "teenage frustration and
...
confusion."
However, while I was surprised about how good the show was, It isn't great. The story was interesting, though often times it was disappointing. There are a lot of these intense moments that end up not leading to much, which ended up being very much average, with some spice.
If you read the description and thought, "yeah, that sounds kind of interesting, but it sounds edgy" then definitely give it a go, as it is genuinely interesting to a certain degree and not as cringe as you might think. There is quite a bit of it though I mean what do you expect, the description has 'sex' and 'highschool' in it.

Honestly I thought the kawaii elements alone would at least give me some motivation to complete the series but alas, it's garbage. So the main appeal for the show is the cuteness of the protagonist, daemon girl of mysterious origins. The story is not terrible but it's slow paced and uninteresting. The characters are so generic you could replace them with any other stereotype.
This show is just so bland I gave up. I will admit though that the demon girl is cute, as plain as she may be.
Conclusion:
Even if you don't care about the story and you're here just for the loli, I still can't
...
recommend.
