Very stylized action sequences. Both are samurai themed. Each has a very serious samurai as well as a more laid back, energetic samurai.

If you liked Shinseiki Evangelion add

...then you might like Koukaku Kidoutai add

They are both extremely dark anime. They're both futuristic (in different ways) and both are disturbing in their own ways.

...then you might like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni add

Both have incredibly cute girls who like to kill people. They also have main protagonists who have absolutely no idea what's going on.

If you liked Aa! Megami-sama! (TV) add

...then you might like Chobits add

They're both harem with incredibly beautiful girls. Both guys are loserish guys who get a hold of their love interests in interesting ways. Ah! My Goddess has less of a plot than Chobits but both are great fun.

...then you might like Devil May Cry add

Both have incredibly lazy but superpowerful main characters. Both battle demons/vampires constantly. Both don't have a very well developed main plot, view more for entertainment than story.

Both have incredibly similar structures. Both are stuck with their girls, AMG by choice, Midori no Hibi not by choice. Both have a secondary female character who initially doesn't like them but then does. Both have a very similar sense of humor and plot.

While being very different artistically the styles are very similar. The era they're set in is almost identical (high-tech rennasiance) Neither are optimistic but both have compelling, deep storylines and great characters.
