I was gonna give this movie an 8 because I was enjoying seeing how the boy survived in a harsh rainy-like society all by himself, yet it suddenly turned into a typical boring love story. I never took interest in the girl, to the point where I literally forgot her name 5 minutes after finishing the movie; and I was unsatisfied with the ending. The weather is one of the things that make people happy or sad, depending on the conditions. Most, if not some people associate the rain with sadness or worse, depression. This being a constant thing thats happening does not surprise me
...
if the % of people living in Tokyo commit suicide simply due to such conditions, even presenting it with Suga's daughter as an example, as she can't even go outside due to the constant rain. The girl is a person who enjoys making people happy, and decided that giving herself up as a sacrifice to help everyone will make her the happiest, yet suddenly she does a 180 and regrets ever doing it; As for Hodaka, the fact that he choose to "save" the girl (even though she 100% wanted to sacrifice herself) and indirectly flood the entire fucking city is a joke. Another thing that I questioned was why would Suga allow Hodaka to do it either, at the very end he seemed to believe him, fully knowing that once the rain is back everything will be flooded even more, and his daughter's life will worsen again. The art of the movie is absolutely beautiful as expected, but the story goes to shit half-way into the movie.
