Where do I even start with this utterly reprehensible attempt at a comedic ecchi affair? Let’s take a trip back to 2009 where a show with edgy pedophile jokes is considered the epitome of comedy and every sentence is laced with tasteless sexual references. This show is about as subtle with its ‘humour’ as a virgin stampede through a library full of porn mags.
It’s not so much that the show is offensive, rather that it commits the number one cardinal sin within the entertainment medium: It bored me. When the same ‘joke’ is repeated for ten episodes straight with zero variation, you can understand
...
why that would become stale, especially when said jokes weren’t funny to begin with. Read: It got stale before the first fucking ED hit.
What about the characters, you ask? Junichi and the three musketeers are nothing more detestable representations of your typical highschool virgins. Each one of our heroes is a walking bag of raging hormones with a slight variation to add variety to the mix. Nerdy spunk-vessel, pedo spunk-vessel, desperate spunk-vessel and our protagonist who also fits the latter character trope. Tragic. The girls aren’t any better either. One-dimensional cardboard cutouts of harem tropes that aren’t even worth the ink they’re drawn with. And don’t even ask about the story because there simply isn’t one, although at times I did question whether I was watching a prison-break show, what with the majority of female chests looking like two bald convicts trying to escape from jail.
So why did I trudge though this hellscape? Masochism or simply the expectancy that it couldn’t get any worse? At this point I couldn’t possibly theorise. Even if you’re 12 and/or have a raging libido, there’s infinitely better ways to get your kicks. Here’s an idea: Remove every article of clothing, butter yourself up with the thickest lubricant you can find and expose yourself to a family member or friend. Congratulations, you’ve just suffered LESS embarrassment than had you been caught watching this miserable atrocity.
