One day, I might fully grasp 5 Centimeters Per Second, but for now, it stands as one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had watching a film.
5 Centimeters Per Second is a highly praised romance animated film by innovative director Makoto Shinkai. His films are known for their beautiful animations, amazing sound design, music, and richfull story. This film is split into three parts, or as the film calls it, ‘episodes.’ The goal of this movie is to show how two people love each other, but are not meant to be together. A simple concept, but the potential is immediate. This is my
...
third film from this director and he makes amazing movies. This is not one of them.
Let's start with the good: the first episode is breathtaking. The visuals are stunning, the pacing is perfect, and the emotional weight feels both genuine and touching. It follows two characters who meet on the subway, and fall in love. They realize that they may never see each other again because one of them is moving away. They exchange contact information and the episode ends. I was fully engrossed in those first twenty minutes, convinced I was in for something truly remarkable. But it hadn't occurred to me yet that the rest of the movie would become one of the most disappointing downward spirals I have ever witnessed.
However, the story shifted into a new episode that felt completely disconnected from the emotional momentum built in the first part. It baffles me that the plot grinds to a halt, opting instead to follow a character who adds absolutely nothing of substance to the story. This second episode of the story is meant to fill time on the screen.
The main character of the second episode is a new girl, who has a one sided crush on the main character. Ultimately, she gives up on advancing on him because she realizes he is in love with someone else.
The second episode is not just pointless—it is painfully boring. The pacing drags, the tension dissolves, and I felt my investment in the story slipping away. Does the third episode redeem it? Somewhat. It shifts back to the main characters and progresses the story, but at this point, the writing becomes so bland and uninspired that I did not care. The pacing stumbles through what could have been a powerful, bittersweet conclusion.
The real issue with 5 Centimeters Per Second is not its premise, which is strong, but its execution. The third episode does not offer closure; instead, it leaves us with nothing. No resolution, no satisfaction—just an empty void where an ending should be. The third episode of the movie spends so much time setting up the possibility of a reunion between the main characters, only to throw that notion away, leaving me wondering what the point was.
I was expecting a bittersweet goodbye between the main characters, but they do not meet in the end, they just forget about each other.
This film should have ended after the first episode. That would have been a perfect, emotionally charged conclusion, leaving the viewer with a lingering sense of loss and possibility. Instead, we are subjected to an unnecessary episode that fills the runtime of the movie and a final act that destroys everything the first part accomplished.
5 Centimeters Per Second is a movie I both love and despise. I love that first episode—it is almost a masterpiece in itself. But I hate how the rest of the film wastes that potential, dragging me through a meandering, unsatisfying plot that ultimately leads nowhere. 5 Centimeters Per Second delivers on the promise of beautiful animations, amazing sound design, and music. But it fails to deliver on a good story.
It is a beautiful letdown.

The story and pacing are what ruined it for me. It's so generic I felt nothing while watching it. All that was happening was flashing colors and the most by the books story. I loved black clover and was excited about this movie, but it was so bad I could barely watch it. The story is just a plot you've seen a million times. There's nothing special about this. This movie is worthless and never justifies its existence. All it does is flashy fight scenes with no reason for them. Very predictable shonen plot. Nothing about this movie is good. A horrible experience. For

After watching the movie and loving it, I decided to check out the original source material for I want to eat your pancreas. I bought the book and it took me about a month to complete. I wasn't expecting much from it since it was just the movie without animation and music. Well, this novel was an absolute masterpiece. If you are a fan of the movie then I highly recommend reading this novel. There's a lot of internal monologues from the main character in the book that you don't really see in the movie. Since this is a book you get to spend a

lot more time with these characters with extra scenes and conversations. Reading this book you get to see the characters grow. This book really builds up to the ending and it really pays off. The tears while I read the final chapters were painful. This book was painful while I read the end. Everything that you knew about the main characters was very thoughtfully written in the end. The beautiful words at the end of the book got to me. If you enjoy dramas this is the book for you. I want to eat your pancreas is a very beautiful book that everyone should read.

This is the most amazing trash webtoon I have ever read. This series has the most generic plot, characters, art, and writing. But despite being a series that should normally be boring and garbage, Refund Highschool is different. Even with all the generic cliques and plot elements, the series made me care. I cared about every single character and what happened to them. It made me care about the predictable plot and conflict. By the end of the series I was crying. This series is something different and people should definitely read this if they like wacky trash enjoyable webtoons. Refund Highschool is very much

the definition of so trash it's good. It's so trash is amazing. The drama in refund is very addicting, it's like watching a soap opera. By the end of the series, it actually attempts to be good by the end and has a very satisfying conclusion. It made me really care about the world and the characters. Even though I thought this series was horrible, that just made it all the better. I wish more series were this trash and good at the same time. It makes a really enjoyable experience.

Sometimes simpler is better. That's the thought I had while watching this movie/feature-length OVA for The Girl from the Other Side. I found that the manga for this movie could be cut down and shortened so it can get its themes down correctly. I wanted that to happen as soon as this adaptation got announced. What we got here was probably even better than I expected and I enjoyed it very much. It truly did the ending justice. My only complaint with this movie is that there is no sense of danger or despair here. There is one threat, but it is taken down quickly.

If you are looking for a short simple movie and are a fan of the manga, I'd recommend this movie. The animation is also very good with the beautiful soundtrack

Saturn Apartments is not a perfect manga and has many flaws, but I think it's a manga worth reading because of it's characters and story. I could tell that the author really did having everything planned out for the story because the ending was perfectly in place and the story does not go on too long or end short. The art gives a sense of how small the apartments are, but how big they feel. It really suits the story. This is a short series and I found it very enjoyable. This is a series where the main character is a window cleaner and it's
...
probably on of the most interesting things I've read. If you're looking for a short series with an overarching story with some slice of life, this is definitely it.
My favorite character from the series is the main character, Mitsu. Mitsu is my favorite character in this series because he sees the world in a very unique way. During the series he thought his father killed himself to go down to the earth, but later on in the series he sees that his father fought to survive. This made him change his perspective on his father and make him want to go to earth and find his father's body to thank him. Mitsu also learns about things very quickly and adapts to them quickly. He generally cares about people and will do anything to help them, even if they are mean to him. Mitsu Is a very kind character and doesn't really dislike anyone, even the person who almost tried to kill him. I would say the only person he dislikes is his father because he abandoned him when he was little, but that changed later on. This character can be flawed, but he is generally enjoyable to read and makes you want to read more about him.
My favorite part of the plot was when everyone was in the Saturn apartments and instead of being in space and hanging out there just normally hanging out for a festival. This is one of the few moments where all the characters are together in the story. During this part of the series most of the characters know each other and have all developed a friendship, so it’s fun to see them all hanging out together and having a good time. During the festival, Mitsu wears a costume similar to his dad when he was younger and all the side characters know this. So Mitsu wears it differently than his dad so he can not just be exactly like him. During the end of the festival Mitsu makes a promise to his friend that they’ll come again next year. This may be the most simple part of the series, but I would have to say this was the most enjoyable part to read. The series has very complex plot points, but they don’t have all the characters in them and they don’t hit as hard as this chapter does.
More moments in this series happen, but near the end it stops to focus on it's plot. The final arc is very good because the main character's dream is coming true and the Saturn apartments is in dismay. The series ends very well and all the characters story come to an end. I wish I could spend more time with the characters, but all things must come to and end. Saturn apartments really left an impression on me and It's definitely one of my favorites of all time. My only problem with this series is that it's too slice of life for the earlier volumes. It really breaks the pace and the author should've sprinkled more of the story throughout those earlier volumes. This is still one of my favorite reads and I highly recommend. Overall this is a 9/10

As a prototype volume this was very good, maybe even too good. I enjoyed reading toilet bound volume 0 more than the actual series. The main series has too slow of pacing for my liking and reading something faced pace was very enjoyable. I would call this a rough draft for toilet bound that I wish was the actual thing. For the final chapter the author writes a conclusion for the 4 chapters and I hope that the author expands on that ending for the actual series. I can see it being a very good conclusion for the series if It follows the same structure.
...
You don't have to read this volume, but if your're a fan of the series I would recommend reading because you can see how the author has improved and there's faster pacing. Overall I enjoyed this more than the actually series and I think it's a solid 8/10.

Blue Exorcist Volume 1 review
Blue Exorcist is a pretty amazing manga series with a very good first volume. I really like this series because it is a really fun read that you don’t really have to think about too much. Except this series becomes very emotional I would say, at least for me that is. I feel like Kazue Kato is a master mangaka that constructed this story very well throughout the years.
This series starts with volume one and it is a masterpiece. I have never read a better first volume than this one. It just introduces everything to the reader in just the
...
most perfect way. I especially like Rin’s character in this volume. All he wants to do is just become a respectable person and get a good job. This really stands out to me since no other shonen protagonist ever wants to say they need to become a respectable person, instead they want to become the wizard king because they don’t need to improve themselves. All they gotta do is become super strong and defeat the bad guys. I’m glad Blue Exorcist never went in this direction and he only wants to kill Satan because of revenge. Rin knows that he isn’t the best, but he wants to change that for the better. I also like father Fujimoto, he can be mean at times, but you know that his heart is in the right place especially before he dies. I really like that Rin and Yukio are twins because you don’t really see that dynamic much. Rin respecting his brother right before he becomes his teacher is good. I like to see character development in the first chapter for Rin when he gets his demon powers and father Fujimoto dying. It’s a great first chapter since it introduces the reader to the main characters and it leaves the reader wanting more.
The end of the chapter Rin attends the exorcist school and Rin becomes his teacher. This is very shonen-like, and it rips off a bunch of series since it just comes off as generic. This is very generic and it’s one of the few things I don’t like about this series. At least the author uses this to her advantage by introducing many characters and giving a general setting the character can hang out and be at. Yukio I find very interesting since you don’t really know his character, which makes developing him very easy since the reader does not know anything about him. Skipping to Chapter three, this chapter is very good and introduces Reim for the series. This chapter is a kind of one off story where it solves the problem in one chapter. I like this kind of thing if it’s done right and it is. After this the volume ends and it is just very amazing. All the chapters of this volume are 10/10 and it leaves you wanting much more. This is still my favorite first volume of a series of all time and will probably still be in ten years.

Mashle is a Shonen jump manga that caught my attention the moment I saw the cover, I didn't here a lot about this manga other than that it was serialized in weekly Shonen jump, but this manga made me laugh more than any other manga has. Story 8/10, the story is pretty much just a harry potter parody with Saitama as the main character, but there's nothing wrong with that. Art 9/10, the art is very well done since when the characters are very series, they make a very dopey face afterword's. Characters 10/10, all the characters are generic, but that is the point, it's
...
not like other Shonen's where there all screaming at each other, but all the character have a purpose and are very enjoyable. My enjoyment of this manga was a 10/10 for me and it might be very high for you if you read this Overall this is a 9/10 manga.
