I guess this anime shows more than tell. Well, it is mostly about a bunch of boys after all, and boys aren't known to be vocal about their struggles. Nonetheless, you see it, and you relate to it.
The actions are less like similar to those shounen, superpower-like sport anime, and more similar to how the real sport is played. It still feels extremely engaging , even though the real focus of the story is on each character's emotional developments.
This should deserve a 9, but I'm not a fan of the art. I know it has style and is quite unique, but I still think

Slow-paced, methodical writing. It might require a little bit of patience when you first start off, but it is by no mean boring.
The story is very endearing. The author took her time to portray a colorful picture of various personalities. They felt alive and real, and you can understand them; what makes them happy, their personal struggles, their thoughts and dreams, all revealed in a natural way of story-telling. Kaoru Mori sure has lots of attention to details and aspiration for the culture.
