I came for the comedy and stayed for the story.

Gintama was both heartbreaking and captivating, wholesome and evil, funny and gloomy, cunning and simple. Damn, I just finished watching this and before I did, I was oh-so-curious why out of all Gintama seasons that have ranked high (AND a lot of them at that, though they're all deserving), Gintama° is by far the highest.
When I joined MAL I often check the anime ranking because I use it as my to-watch list, since there must be a reason why those shows are garnering all that recognition, right?
