Jojo's bizzare adventure is a show that uses a lot of love. Hirohiko is truly loves his work and is incredibly dedicated to writing this manga, and david production has put an incomparable amount of love into this show.
Story: 8/10
The story is over fine overall and the pacing is good, but you wouldn't be able to jump directly to this part as you'd be left pretty confused (although you may be left confused anyway). This show follows the joestar bloodline as they go on a bizzare adventure.
I am a firm believer that araki's writing has only improved as time has gone on. And this
...
stays true with this part. Part 1 was quite flat and basic as far as anime goes, but I can forgive that as araki was still pretty new when he started writing, while part 2 was better but the premise was still quite basic. I also can't see why part 3 is so iconic, although I will admit it is pretty good. However, part 4 is when araki's writing really starts to pick up.
One of the things I love about jojo is how creative it is. The stand powers are creative and new. While the stand abilities do not gain the incredible amount of originality that part 6, 7, and 8 have, they are a vast improvement from part 4. Furthermore, unlike battles in other shonen which are all about powering up, this show gives a nice change of pace by making battles mind games. Figuring out your opponent's stand ability is absolutely imperative to winning, and every stand is new and interesting. This means that every battle is original and new, while other shonens such as naruto and dragon ball end up incredibly repetive.
The main caveat I have with this show is how jotaro does as much josuke, and the main villains death was quite anticlimactic. Jotaro is supposed to be a supporting character in this part, and the limelight should've been given to josuke.
Art: 8/10
The art in this show is unique, even compared to the other parts, and the bright and vibrant colors are beautiful. David animation put a lot of love into this show, and has stayed true to the style of the manga. The animation is just absolute eycandy, and the choice to change the colors during dramatic fights is quite nice.
Sound: 10/10
Most shows have a good op in the first season, and then the second just dissapoints. Not Jojo though! Every single one of jojo's openings are amazing, showing the dedication that the jojo team have to making jojo great. They show that they care about the show and bringing it to everyone.
Also, Josuke's theme is GREAT!
Character: 8/10
Each of the characters in this part have a well fleshed out personality, especially the main villain. I won't go into details, but the main villain's goals and motives are not world domination, which is a nice change of pace from dio and kars.
However, I have two caveat, hence the two points lost; Josuke's personality is too calm, unless his hair is insulted, and two, the destruction of joseph's reputation. By making joseph cheat to make josuke, his good name was destroyed (not a spoiler, we learn this in the first episode). I absolutely hate this.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Overall, I enjoyed the show a lot. The story is gripping, and overall the show is just a really enjoyable watch. However, this show probably isn't the best for everyone, since it's super weird and outright confusing sometimes. But overall, I had a really good experience and would definitely recommend the series.
Overall: 9/10
