Phew! Here I am. Finally at the end of my long and arduous journey. In the beginning, I only wanted to watch "Hokuto no Ken" and "Hokuto no Ken 2" and it's OVA episodes and movies, but in the end, I've watched everything there is, and let me tell you that "DD Hokuto no Ken" series drained the most life out of me. I will never again watch everything from one franchise (unless there's little of it or I really like it, of course).

However! I actually think "DD Hokuto no Ken 2 Ichigo Aji+" is good. Well, it's definitely better than "DD Hokuto no Ken". ... Why? Well, because here the absurdity is completely embraced and there is a lot more gags that are actually funny.

But don't be fooled. This is still an anime made for Japanese audiences. Humour is over the top and silly, sometimes even dumb and if you take a shot every time Bat comments the lack of logic in something, you will be hammered in no time. Some jokes are a bit grotesque and the presence of ghostlike students is a bit creepy.

Intro song is cool. As for the outro song, I don't like it. It's too melancholic considering the overall tone of the series.

I didn't really like Strawberry part of the anime which comes at the end of the episodes. It never made me laugh.

In the end, I think this is as good as a travesty like this can get. Episodes are mostly entertaining and I dare say some are even comfy and enjoyable. Naturally, I still don't think this should be watched by someone not familiar with the original series. This is an OK one and done watch for the fans of the series. The rest should avoid it. 7/10!

"DD Hokuto no Ken 2013" is another anime parodying "Hokuto no Ken". Here Ken, Raoh and Toki work in a little store owned by their master Ryūken, competing for the right to work there for a fairer wage.

Animation is alright and I don't have any complaints in that department.

Voice acting is fine and updated "Ai o Torimodose!!" for intro is cool. Outro song is... Something else...

My main problem with "DD Hokuto no Ken (2013)" is that the humour is not that great. This is humour mainly suited for the original Japanese audience. It consists mostly of characters doing weird stuff and behaving inappropriately, as well ... as some basic slapstick humour. Yes, there are funny scenes that will make you laugh, but they are few and far between, which is sad, because thought and effort was clearly put into this (for example, of all things, I noticed a Popeye reference in one episode). This makes this anime a chore to watch, even if you are a fan of the series.

My verdict is that this should be watched only by the series most hardcore fans, especially those from Japan. It certainly has it's charm, but it's humour is specific and not everybody will find enjoyment here. 6/10!

"DD Hokuto no Ken" is a parody anime and I initially didn't want to watch it. However, since I've watched all the OVA episodes and movies, I decided to watch this to.

"DD" in the title stands for design deformation because all the characters are drawn in chibi style. I don't have any objections to the art style or animation. They are alright.

This is basically "Hokuto no Ken" parody mixed with slice of life. It's silly and over the top and doesn't take itself too seriously (atlhough some of the jokes, especially those concerning Souther and his dead master are of really poor taste) and it ... can make you smile a bit. It's honestly refreshing and only because it comes after hours upon hours of violence and tragedy. Do keep in mind that the anime parodies not only "Hokuto no Ken" series, but also elements of Japanese culture.

The episodes are really short and you can watch this whole thing in an hour.

If you are a fan of the series, this is some harmless, dumb fun and you won't regret it if you watch it, but others should avoid it. 6/10!

"Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Giaden Ten no Haoh" is anime that tells the story of Raoh's rise as a King of Fists.

From the first episode, it is clear for who this anime was intended, because the first thing you will notice is that Raoh has a kid's face. In fact, everybody looks like a teenagers more than grown men and women. This anime was clearly made in an effort to draw younger audiences to the series and the whole thing oozes with that half-cringe, half-cool late 2000-s anime and I can easilly imagine that some kids thought this is the coolest thing they've seen since ... sliced bread.

Raoh himself is overpowered and over the top main character and though the series tries to depict him both as a tyrant and as a hero, it mostly glorifies him and some things he does are very over the top and it's clear as day that they are trying to make Raoh more likeable than he really is. I like the voice of Takashi Ukaji though.

Art style is questionable and I'm not sure if it's really my cup of tea, but it gets the job done.

Music, on the other hand, is phenomenal, from intro to outro and music during episodes themselves.

Story has some interesting moments, but they're nothing too important or crazy and it's hard to care for the fate of the characters when you know their fate if you are fan of the series. The plot twist at the end can be seen from miles away if you have a functioning brain.

Despite it's shortcomings, I think "Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Giaden Ten no Haoh" is a fine and entertaining anime. If you like the series, you can't go wrong with watching it, just be ready for something different that you maybe won't like immediately or maybe at all. I don't recommend the anime if you just stumbled upon it, prior knowledge of the series is needed to understand many things.

While the user "sakakiDMT" has a very positive and emotional opinion about "Hokuto no Ken:" Legend of Heroes" (at the time of writing this, his review is the only one that exists) I will try to be more objective.

This is a 3D 6-minute video of Ken fighting Raoh. The 3D animation was probably impressive for its time and even now it's visible that effort was put into it. However, the 3D effect is horrible and really makes the whole thing more ugly than it needs to be. The way the whole thing looks is admittedly a bit weird, even if you don't want it ... to. There are two situations where animation is sped up to show Raoh's and Kenshiro's fast movement and it looks goofy. Every other character except them two and Yuria who speaks a bit and a bunch of soldiers Kenshiro quickly annihilates is absent. The video ends with Raoh's death and credits during which that new version of "Ai o Torimodose!!" plays, but it doesn't play to the end and that's a shame.

Overall, this is a curiosity in which only the most hardcore fans of the series will be interested. For the 6 minutes it lasts, it's passable. I give it 6/10! and I recommend it only to the fans.

This is the last and undoubtedly best movie of the pentalogy of three movies and two OVA episodes simply because it's a new and original story which tells about Kenshiro's recovery after being defeated by Shin and how he accepts being a savior of the century.

"Ai o Torimodose!!" gloriously returns in the perfect moment and the movie even ends with the story of the first episode.

However, not everything is perfect. Kenshiro's final battle is so over the top in terms of his strength that he looks as strong as he is at the end of his overall story. It's aslo a shame that all of ... the characters Kenshiro's interacts with here are obviously invented for this story and are never mentioned in the original story, because, you know, they didn't exist and considering how important they end up being to Kenshiro's character development, the discrepancy is obvious.

In the end, I think this is a good movie for the fans of the series, but everybody else should avoid it, because it won't change your opinion about the series. 7.5/10!

Compared to Yuria's OVA, Toki's is far better, both in terms of additions to the original story and the overall presentation. It is a beautiful experience for the fans of this series. Sara's character fits nicely in the narrative and the more detailed fight with raoh is alright, although it definitely lacks the style of the original.

Again, I don't like Raoh's voice actor and I'm not completely sold on the art style, but overall, if you really like the series, this is not a bad watch. Just don't expect it to be better than the original and don't expect it to change your opinion on ... the franchise. 7.5/10!

"Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Gaiden Gekitou-hen" is a movie that retells Kenshiro's final fight with Raoh with a few minor additions and a lot of left out story. I'm still not completely sold on the art style, though it undoubtedly looks pretty, but I don't like those black lines on characters.

Voice actors are mostly fine and doing their best, though I'm not sure Kunihiro Kawamoto was the right choice for Raoh, same as Shigeru Shibuya. Hiro Shimono does a good job with Kenshiro, but same as Eiji Kanawa his wailing during fights is cringe.

Music is alright, but again, don't count on old cult classics from ... the series to come back.

Fights are alright and definitely more detailed. Violence is mostly stylized and I like that.

All in all, "Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Gaiden Gekitou-hen" is not a must-watch, but if you are a fan of the series, you can't go wrong with watching it. Just don't expect a masterpiece, because you won't find it here. Those who didn't like the original don't have anything to look for here. 7.5/10!

It's weird that the OVA completely centered on Yuria's POV feels less about Yuria than her presence in the original series.

First things first, Yuriko Ishida is bad as Yuria and can't hold a candle to Yuriko Yamamoto. She can barely show any emotion at all with her voice. Yuria is also portrayed as a brunette instead of a ginger and I don't know why.

In the end, almost every other character than Yuria feels more insteresting than her and the additions to the original story are uninteresting at best and dumb at worst. For some reason, a dog called Toby is introduced and he is one ... of the main characters, because somebody thought that's a good idea and I don't really agree with that.

Still, if you are a fan of the series, this is a watchable OVA and you will enjoy it, but don't expect anything more than a mediocre filler. 6/10!

After that bad old movie and that mediocre OVA trilogy comes "Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Gaiden Junai-hen". In my opinion it's a lot better than previous attempts, but it still leaves some things to be desired.

For instance, animation is very good, but I still don't fully like the art style and at times it aesthetically reminds me of some eastern TV series which is a bit weird. I think this is because the sparse use of colours. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of colours being used, but they all feel so... Muted? I don't know, but it doesn't look right and I ... also don't like how characters have those black lines over their faces. It just doesn't sit right with me personally.

Eiji Hanawa does Kenshiro better than Takehito Koyasu, making him feel more human, but it's still not a perfect replacement for Akira Tamiya and his wailing during fights can feel a bit cringe. Shigeru Shibuya is a complete fail as voice of Raoh, while Houchuu Ootsuka is not very good Shuu, because I can only hear Satou (but that's my problem).

Additions to the original story try to make a more humane character out of Raoh, but I'm not really sure if that was necessary, because we already got a different POV in "Hokuto no Ken 2" and the new characters are OK, but nothing special. I also can't fathom that they decided to make a whole movie about Sotuher's story and leave out his tragic past and that gut-wrenching moment where he cries in front of everybody next to his master's grave.

Fights are alright and I like that the violence is mostly stylized.

The movie has some nice music of it's own, but a big disappointment is when "Ai o Torimodose!!" starts playing and it sounds good, but it's not the epic original and instead a new version and you are waiting for the best parts to come, but they never do because they are not edited in.

All in all, this movie understands what it's supposed to be and it's definitelly better than that previous OVA episodes, but it still misses the mark and can't compare to the original series. That's why I give it 7/10 and I recommend it to the fans!
