This is my favorite anime for a reason. Ever since I heard the first opening I was immediately drawn into the show. Durarara is that odd little gem that not many of my anime watching friends have seen, some have not even heard of it before I told them about it. But I can say that every friend of mine who I recommended it to came out loving it. Everything about this show is fantastic. Being a 24 episode series gives it more time focus on things that make a good series, the story and characters. ... The story can be summed up as a gang war with a mystic element and these two themes play off each other perfectly. The mystic characters have there roles to play in the story but Durarara does a great job at giving all the characters specific moments or episodes showing off how amazing they are in their own right. I cant say the story is perfect because are a few unanswered questions at the end but luckily a second season will be airing in 2015 so these questions will not stay unanswered for long. The animation is crisp and fluid, the action plays out so well on screen that I cant take my eyes off the screen even after my sixth viewing of this show. The openings and ending are both great but I will say the recaps that take place in the middle of the song is a little jarring after listening to the full songs so much. I say give it the 3 episode rule and if you are not hooked like I was then it's just not for you, but I have not met a single person like that yet so I hope you wont be the first.
