An absolute viking epic! Bloody yet beautiful art and symbolism fills this series to the brim. The team behind it paced it perfectly as it fails to fall flat at any point in the 24 episode run. As the aptly named final episode, "End of the Prologue" suggests, this astounding tale is only just beginning...
A story of retribution, valour and honour, what it means to have the heart of a warrior, these themes echo through the series as we watch the immense growth of characters and in some cases a deeper look into the past which can provide just as much growth for a character

for the viewer. The intrigue and secrecy involved in the story will surely keep you gripped episode to episode.
Historical accuracy is clearly something the original creators strived for, and this adaptation recognises that. Even though it is all dubbed in Japanese they strongly maintain language barriers throughout which is a very minor detail to the viewer but is clearly something Europeans, even today, will encounter. Any history geeks out there (like me) will thoroughly enjoy this show!
This review is quite late in terms of the air date, but I highly suggest anyone who hasn't watched it yet and enjoys an intriguing, historical, bloodshed-ridden romp through early 11th century Europe picks it up soon enough.
