So you moved to Japan and you are starting a new life there? Holy ~ that is soooo cool, I am sooo excited for you and I am totally here for it!
-
bruh tell me about it, I legit tell myself that inflation cast a level-up spell on EVERYTHING but our wallets! HAHAHAH but i did hear things are hella expensive in Japan >< Hope you are managing well and you've got this. Are you in Tokyo or somewhere else? istg i legit wanna squeal with excitement for u rn!

Welps~ what do I say? My job has taken over my entire life hahah! So my commute to work is my therapeutic chill time. I tell myself that life is a game, and we win based on how we play this game. Lets win over this chaos~ fighting ^^
A sleep marathon sounds like just what the doctor ordered! It's great you had the chance to catch up on rest. ISTG thats reminding me of when I was constantly napping everywhere after my submission. It took just 2 weeks of sleep for me to gain back all the weight I lost and get rid of my intense dark circles! And hey, getting older just means we appreciate those moments more, right?
It's awesome that you're staying in academia for a bit longer to explore opportunities, especially with the prospect of heading to Japan for a few months! The first and the only time I visited Japan was 13 years ago >< Really need to visit again and I feel old saying that it was 13 years ago :O Anyways, Japan sounds incredibly exciting. Have you started planning what you'll do while you're there?
Totally get your preference for Megumi over Gojo—his style and abilities are pretty cool and his personality is FIRE. And no worries about the spoiler, don't think I'll watch season 2 of Naruto tbh!
I started watching Weathering with You today and I am looooooving the graphics so far! I'll have to check out "5cm per second" too, thanks for the recommendation!
Heee~ sounds like you had a chill but well-deserved breather! Nothing beats catching up on some much-needed sleep, right? Hope you’re having a sleep marathon because I sure did!
YESS. super blessed I landed on my current job. And yes, I was so conditioned to believe that academia was the next best step, especially a post-doc. But the thought itself was suffocating, and that's how I ended up in my current job. It’s really upsetting to think that depression is so normalized or even brushed off in academia, especially with toxic professors being part of the problem.
Welps!! EVen so, I need to catch up on the show because everyone keeps talking about Gojo's death, and I need to know how he dies so I can mourn properly, HAHAH! But seriously, I saw a post by another manga artist (probably a big fan of Gojo) who drew him in her manga. Bless her. At least Gojo lives on in another universe!
Speaking of movies that hit hard (in the chest like a pang), have you watched Kimi no Na wa? I swear, I still haven’t found an anime that made me cry ugly tears like Kimi no Na wa.
Weeeeee~~~~ I am so, so, sooo elated for you. Congratulation! I truly hope you celebrated because you deserve one >< I submitted my thesis at 23:50-ish, right before the deadline, phew! So, I went to McD (the only place that's open that late) and got myself a McFlurry to celebrate HAHA.
Essentially, it's as an international trade facilitator (not precisely what my PhD is on), but I get to do economic research for each new project! So, it's actually fun and exciting. The pay is better than being in academia, tbh, and to my surprise, the environment is much, much more encouraging and supportive.
Same! Loved the 1st season, but the 2nd was meh. I have paused it only because they killed off Nanami
and I am not ready to see more people die.
Wah! Okay, to this day Death Note remains a favorite, so I'll definitely check out Oshi no Koe.
Ps. Hope you are catching up to your well-deserved rest! Once again, Congratulations!
Ooh! Keep fighting! Yes, the end is in sight! You’re super close; you’ve got this.
2024 is already much better than last year, haha (free from the PhD and all that).
I started a new job (non-academic), so that’s essentially what my 2024 looks like.
Watching JJK has become painful, so I’ve paused it for a bit. Assuming you haven’t watched it, I won’t give any spoilers.
But I’ve been eyeing Oshi no Ko for a while now and need to start it.
Omg, no way! I finished my PhD this year, passed my viva this June! What a coincidence.
Hang in there! I can totally understand the pain of expectations and crushing pressure from everyone including oneself. You are nearly at the finish line, you've got this.
Now that I'm finally done and dusted with my PhD, I have trying to reconnect with my old self and trying to enjoy life. That's how I stumbled back on myanimelist.
