Something needs to be said upfront: The appearance of this movie is deceptive. This is not a light-hearted, happy movie. That being said the film knows what it is and executes the story excellently.
Story: 10
The story of this movie is unique and bitterly tragic. The sadness of the tale hit me like a gut-punch. Its ability to move the viewer and stir emotion is what really makes this movie's story special. The surprising story developments amplify the emotion packed into this film. It is a powerful combination and will have the viewer ruminating on the story well after the credits roll. Themes of the
...
story include: The cruelty of nature, loss of innocence, vengeance, survival, loneliness, despair, regret and fighting against destiny/in-born nature. What hit me most of all though was the concept that sometimes getting what you think you wanted can be the most cruel and terrible outcome. Truly a powerful tale.
Art: 10
The art shifts with the tone of the story masterfully. Everything from scenery, character design, and colors adapts with the story. This really adds to the emotion and feelings behind the scenes. It is amazing to see art direction that accommodates the story so naturally at every scene. In addition the art style is interesting and the animation is very clean when you consider the age of this film.
Sound: 10
Just like the art the music fits and boosts the emotion of the story. The music comes in where it belongs, but also knows when to let up and let silence fall. The faint ringing of the bell has great meaning in context of the story and this also hits home. I watched in English dub and the lyrical pieces of the soundtrack were done very well. The voice actors delivered their lines with emotion and purpose. The narration work was also done with sincerity and was quite impactful.
Character: 10
The main characters of the story are complicated and 3-dimensional. The relationship between the two main characters is equally intriguing and complex as the individuals themselves. They have very interesting motivations, thoughts, and feelings. They are fallible and feel pain. Despite being animals they are very much so human. They carry the burdens of the human heart within them. You can relate to these characters and they will speak to your humanity. They are remarkably memorable and well written. The amount of character development packed into this movie is also amazing. Watching how Chirin changed was shocking, but also brutally real. If you love character development it is a real treat.
Enjoyment: 10
Though the film made me sad I also really enjoyed it. It sent me on an emotional roller coaster. It had me invested and moved. It gave me an experience I will not forget and really made me think. I know I will watch this again in the future to experience the powerful emotions it brought out in me.

The first words that comes to mind when I think of this series is: Warmth and fun.
Story: 10
The story is simple, but very enjoyable. This show knows what kind of story it wants to tell and sticks to it. It is about a tight knit middle school soft tennis team. This is first and foremost a story about friendship. It is a story packed with character interactions, camaraderie, humor, misadventures, antics, and some playful ecchi. You can also expect a focus on the passion and heart of the players as they chase their dreams. A major theme of the story is what it
...
means to chase a dream with your friends. This anime explores how friends can make up for your weaknesses. Overall the story of this show made me laugh and warmed my heart. The happiness this show radiates is contagious.
Art: 10
The art fits the story being told very well. The bright colors and cute character designs were perfect. Characters all look distinct and have extremely expressive faces. Even the background and sky is drawn in a cute and inviting way. The art just gives off this sense of warmth. It made me wish I could walk right into these happy scenes.
Sound: 10
The voice acting in this show is phenomenal. Each voice actress/actor captured the heart of who their character is. You could tell emotion was put into every line. This really breathed life into the characters. The excellent voice acting adds a lot to the humor as well. The music always plays up the fun and silliness of the scenes. Music backs up the heartfelt moments as well.
Characters: 10
This is one of my favorite aspects of the series. Every character is very likeable. They are all so odd, quirky, and fun! These characters are very unorthodox, but they are extremely endearing. I felt a sense of care for the whole cast. You just want to see them happy and grow together. When they interact their friendship feels very real. The way they care about each other and share good times together made me smile.
Enjoyment: I loved the show! I felt so happy while watching it. I am sure to re-watch this show in the future. It really was medicine for the spirit for me and I felt uplifted. The world can be full of cynicism and worries, but this show offers a break from all that. You can just sit back and get pulled into a world of fun and kindness. That is why this show will remain special to me.

I feel these specials are a must see for those who enjoyed the original series. They take place shortly after the end of the original series. It is a real treat to see the cast of characters all together after the events of episode 12. These specials provide a little extra dose of ecchi. In addition to that you get a couple humorous backstories on the characters. This is all wrapped in a pleasant interaction between the characters. Expect the antics and fun of the original series. I think it is the perfect little cap on the parent series. It left me very satisfied.

This show is very enjoyable and takes very little time to watch.
Story: Each episode is a fun little mix of comedy and ecchi. The situations of each episode are quite unique. This show delivers on the fan-service. Comedy is drawn from the awkward/odd situations Asuka ends up in.
Art: Colorful art. Fits the fun, light-hearted mood of the show. Character design of Asuka is very attractive.
Sound: End song is upbeat and fun. Sound effects are well placed. Asuka's voice actress is perfect in delivering her lines/sounds.
Character: Main character Asuka has a very likeable personality. She is carefree, kind, and innocent. Her carefree attitude with
...
her appearance and clothes is charming and also drives the story. She is sexy in a sort of innocent and oblivious way. Most other characters only appear once, but are often quite funny. Her father appears more often and is also very funny. He is perverted and sleazy in an endearing way (never towards his daughter). He is always trying to balance his karma out by being protective of his daughter.
Enjoyment: I had a blast with the show! Perfect mix of sexy ecchi and silly comedy. Would recommend to fans of ecchi, comedy, or both! Great way to spend an hour.

The first thing I would like to say is that while one of this show's genres is ecchi, it has much more than just that to offer. Don't get me wrong- this show delivers on the ecchi and there is plenty of it to enjoy. That being said I feel this show stands out as a masterpiece even if you don't like ecchi. Let me explain why I feel that way...
Story: 10
This show at its core is a story about passionate people who fight through pain and hardships to do what they love. This is a story of overcoming all the odds and chasing dreams.
...
Pro wrestlers in real life experience many hardships and the story pulls no punches on those realities. You get to see their struggles in and outside the ring and the story makes you really feel for the cast. This makes the matches extremely exciting beyond a technical standpoint. The viewer knows what the characters are feeling and what is at stake with each match-up. I think this type of story can resonate with many people and that is why the story of this show is so great.
Story Themes Include: fighting spirit, sportsmanship, honor, grit, the true nature of Professional Wrestling, rivalry, and friendship (and how rivalry and friendship are not mutually exclusive things).
Art: 10
The colorful art fits the exciting tone of the show and makes everything pop. It really brings the show to life. The character designs really shine. Each character is very distinct looking and the designs of the wrestling gear and outfits look amazing! The technicalities of the wrestling moves are drawn with great detail and accuracy. The wrestling venues are also drawn with great care. I feel they put a ton of love into the art of this show.
Sound: 10
The music always adds to the intensity, excitement, and drama of the matches. Music pieces that play outside the ring also always build the mood and emotion of the scenes. Opening really pumps you up and the ending song has a great deal of meaning in the context of the story. The voice actors deliver their lines with heart and purpose. The sound effects are one of the best aspects of this show's sound quality. It is just so visceral. It is like you can feel the impact of each hit or slam. When submission moves are locked in the sound effects convey the agony of being twisted into awful positions.
Characters: 10
I loved every character in this show. Each one has so much heart. The various members of the cast all have their own motivations. Their actions are driven by varying things, but you can always understand and sympathize with them. The viewer can get where they are coming from. Character interactions are full of meaning and purpose. This gets you really invested into character bonds. This show takes character development seriously and this makes the cast feel very real to the viewer.
Enjoyment: 10
I loved this show! As a big fan of Pro Wrestling I really felt it captured the true nature of Pro Wrestling, and the heart and spirit of its athletes. If you love Pro Wrestling you simple can not miss this show! That being said I feel you do not need to be a wrestling fan to love it. This will also delight fans of action, ecchi, sports, and drama. I feel it has very broad appeal. I am sure to re-watch this show in the future. I will never forget this show.

Story: The story of the first 3 specials is pretty light. It could mostly be summed up as just some fun fan-service. I thought the character interactions were quite good though. Some fun humor is infused into these first 3 specials too. For the time I think it is worth the watch. Specials 4-6 I would say are a must watch though. These last 3 specials build on the relationship between 2 key characters. It also sees a return of a couple cool side characters. The stories of these specials are great to see after giving the parent series a watch.
Art: Looks just like
...
the parent series. The color is very nice and the character designs are high quality.
Sound: Not much to say here because there is not much music. Uses some tracks from the parent show and it fits well. The sound effects are on point and are timed very well though.
Character: Brings back the awesome cast. Personalities shine well and there is some awesome character development in the last 3 specials.
Enjoyment: I absolutely loved these specials! I feel they are a must see for anyone who loves the parent series. Some fun to be had and some building on the original story is achieved. In summation anime specials done to perfection!

One Piece is one of those anime that really pull you into its world. It had me hooked from episode 1 and before I knew it 8 months had passed and I had caught up on its many episodes, movies, specials, and any other content I could see. Now every Sunday when the new episode comes out I'm like a kid on Christmas morning. I know I'll be sailing with Monkey D. Luffy until the show's conclusion.
Story: 10
I gave the story a 10 because of how imaginative it truly is. Revelations and new developments in this story are constantly coming at you. This
...
means the story never gets repetitive or boring. Additionally the story will have you asking yourself many interesting philosophical questions. Here are just a few of the questions this show may have you thinking about:
What is Justice?
What is good and evil?
What is really important in life?
What does it mean to be free?
Better yet it does this without ever feeling preachy.
The story also has great themes of friendship (friendships as strong as familial ties) and amazing adventure!
Art: 10
The art-style in this show is really unique. It is instantly recognizable and fits the show perfectly. All the color really brings the expansive One Piece world to life. Character designs are all very distinct and some of the most eye catching in anime. The fights and all the special attacks are breathtaking.
Sound: 10
The soundtrack in this show is extremely versatile and varied. It has pieces that fit every mood. The openings and endings all sound great. These tracks really provoke emotion. Songs that will make you smile ear to ear, songs that will make you sob, songs that make you feel tense and excited - It has it all!
Characters: 10
One Piece really shines in this category. Every character has a distinct personality, motives, beliefs, and their chance to shine in the story. The cast of characters are extremely lovable and quirky. Monkey D. Luffy and his crew all have hearts of gold.
Enjoyment 10:
I find One Piece extremely enjoyable. It has everything I am looking for in an anime. It keeps me excited, invested, and completely enamored with the characters and plot. It pulls you into its adventure so well!
Overall: 10
I would strongly advise watching this show. It is a time investment to watch all the way up to date, but I did it and it was well worth it to me. It is the kind of show that has something for everyone and so can be enjoyed by nearly anyone! Happy sailing!
