Mixed Feelings

There's been a current trend within the anime community, whenever an anime is "feelsy" it's guaranteed to be "10/10 flawless, nothing can compare" and while this may be true for some anime such as Clannad, there are others which have "feelsy" elements but are not executed well, I say this because Plastic Memories fits in the latter. While having an interesting premise set up for a lot of drama the execution is questionable.

Story
Set in the future, technology has advanced so far society has created artificial intelligence known as Giftia. While Giftias are very humanlike in both appearance and personality the problem is their short ... life span only being a little over 9 years. After their expiration date they become 'Wanderers' essentially being killing machines. Our story follows Tsukasa and Giftia Isla as they work for a terminal agency that shuts down these Giftias before their expiration date to ensure they don't become Wanderers. While the premise is interesting and set up for feels there is one problem that bothers me, why would that be allowed? I mean especially since people are reluctant to give up their Giftias cause they treat them like family there should be an army of these things destroying the city because some people are too stubborn and to in love with their Giftias, according to the anime this has only happened once which I find hard to believe but nitpicking aside the story is still ok. I like the premise and the first episode did a good job introducing the world but the major problem is the inconsistent tone the show is giving; one minute it's a drama, next is comedy, next is romance, next is freaking Psycho Pass. I am being serious there's an episode that is pretty much Psycho Pass. With this inconsistent tone that the show gives me I found it hard to immerse myself with the story, I wasn't sure at times whether to laugh or to emote because at one point where it's serious it then turns into a comedy. I do think this show has potential despite that nitpick I made earlier and feel like it would be more effective if it was an episodic series. Instead the show uses its premise to tell a pretty generic romance story and though while having development it's not anything to be amazed about in my opinion because this kind of thing has be heavily done before in the romance genre.

Characters
This is probably my biggest problem with the show the characters suck with the exception of Isla and Zack. The main character Tsukasa is your typical generic male romance protagonist being pretty beta and experiencing love at first sight with Isla. My main issue is the show uses this to execute anime cliches all over the place because his character is beta as fuck. I don't want an arrogant protagonist but the cliche's were so frustrating to get through with this guy and there was nothing that made him unique to be a main character other than to fill in the main character role. This also goes for most characters, they all generally fit some generic trope to an extreme like Michiru is the tsundere, Kazuki is the overprotective mature one, Eru's the energetic one with the speech habit etc. etc. While these characters have backstories I wouldn't say it's enough to justify their general character because this show likes to constantly remind me how generic they are especially Michiru. It feels like the show writers were just ticking off a list of characters that they thought need to be in the anime and decided to rarely work on them. Isla is probably the only decent one because she shows development, starting off as a kuudere but actually develops her own character which is a plus and I only like Zack because he fucked with everyone which entertained me because I hated mostly everyone.

Presentation (Animation and sound)
The animation probably the best thing about this anime, I'm not entirely for the whole 'moe' appeal that the show tries to give off to some characters like Isla but even so this anime looks good and has a nice style to it, I'd say that a lot of people will most likely appreciate the art style. The soundtrack on the other hand for me was barely noticeable including the opening and the ending.

Conclusion
This show had potential and in my opinion could have been something better but it decided instead to use it's premise to deliver a generic romance story with 'feels' and just because it has 'feels' doesn't mean it's instantly amazing. The execution is incredibly inconsistent and the characters are incredibly generic that I can't see this show as amazing. There is some enjoyment to be had and if you enjoy your romance stories then go ahead and check it out but if you're looking for something to watch in general I wouldn't recommend this.

Mixed Feelings

Tens, tens all across the boards, I was quite excited to see this anime especially with its popularity on MAL and its popularity in the reviews, aside from this review that I am currently writing, all of them consisted of a positive review. I was impressed, not even one person gave Shinsekai Yori a low score...I guess that I am going to have to be that person.

Shinsekai Yori is an anime adapted from its novel counterpart that released in 2012, after seeing its positive praise I decided to pick it up, so here are my thoughts on the anime.

Story
If you're reading this ... and you've also read the synopsis here my suggestion is to read this or on some wiki because the synopsis IS NO WHERE NEAR THE ACTUAL PLOT, I am serious. From reading it you'd assume it's probably some mystery or something at least I did but nope the anime is doesn't revolve around that 'rumour' that is mentioned.
Shinsekai Yori is set 1000 years into the future where humans have developed psychic abilities known as cantus. Due to this nature society has evolved and would seem perfect at least so it seems but of course there is more than meets the eye. The anime then progresses over the lives of our characters and explore many themes that surround it. Its execution is more arc based as the story progresses in small plot elements that will later progress throughout the show. While I don't think is not a bad idea the general execution is well tiresome. Shinsekai Yori is a heavy exposition anime it requires a lot of attention to every detail so it may not exactly be your cup tea if you're not into heavy talking and while you're reading this thinking that I am incompetent to fully engage, I really did try with this anime. I wanted to love it but it was incredibly difficult. One of the problems was essentially the plot points in the show, a lot of them and I mean a lot are only brought up due to convenience when instead these plot points should've been brought up often. Another reason why I couldn't fully enjoy the story is because it develops on arcs where I just wasn't fully interested mainly because some arcs tend to fall astray from the main synopsis of the show or into characters which I never fully cared for. While the anime does explore themes it's only really the tip of the iceberg for example the ever so popular topic of same-sex relationships is explored and what I mean is essentially that people are just gay. The relationships or the themes is not deepening or explored fully it just happens, not that it's entirely a problem but with people praising it's use of theme-ing I couldn't really see it because what Shinsekai Yori is showing me makes it no different from any other relationship. Also more personally but the plot twists to me in this show were incredibly predictable.

Characters
In terms of characters not many of them are interesting to begin with. The story revolves around a group of characters with Saki Watanabe being the main character, one of the major problems I had with her is essentially how much praise she got...for being normal. Everyone and I mean everyone in the show comments on how much potential she has or how amazing she is but all she does is just stands there, there are times where she is somewhat useful but she doesn't do many things interesting. The rest of the characters aren't exactly gold either, most of them don't hold much interest or exactly deepen the plot. There's very little care for characters in the show not until the later parts of the show but it's only briefly, it's quite the shame because with Shinsekai Yori deepening towards its society you could do some good character building but unfortunately the characters are just there, you could replace the characters with anyone and it wouldn't impact the show in the slightest.

Presentation
The art style is pretty good except for one design of characters that I don't particularly like, that being the queerats. They can die but the rest of the animation and art is pretty good to look at, I didn't mind it. The soundtrack of the anime is pretty good, I quite liked it one of the few anime osts that I have indeed noticed and thought it was pretty good and despite this anime not having an opening the ending theme for it is pretty awesome.

Conclusion
Personally Shinsekai Yori is an overrated anime to me. Its plot is all over the place and is pretentious by attempting to explore many themes present in our society today but it's not a good attempt to me especially with its bland characters. Maybe there's just something wrong with me because a lot of people love this anime but personally I just couldn't enjoy it which leaves me with my final rating of this anime being 6.

Devil Survivor 2 The Animation (Anime) add

This anime seems to be getting a lot of hate but the anime itself is pretty credible and somewhat enjoyable. As someone that hasn't played the Devil Survivor games I was somewhat pulled into this anime but it still feels like it is lacking something. By reading this review I have only seen 6 episodes and so this review wouldn't be valid but can be credible to the anime itself.

Story
The story is fine and there isn't too much to complain about. The anime presents itself with our usual high school protagonist with his high school friends. It's pretty basic and isn't anything new or ...
