Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta...

Both series are a parody of their genre but have different plots and settings. However, you might enjoy one if you enjoy comedy and fluffiness: - Both heroines were supposed to be evil but they are very cute and dense. They have a tendency to be gluttons. - Heroine has a stereotypical group of male and female friends to hang out with her. - Heroine is completely dense and oblivious to the feelings of the main "hero".

add

In both there's a woman from our world who ends up dying and reincarnating in a character from a game/novel: while in Otome Game no Hametsu, the woman reincarnates in the villainess, in The reason why Raeliana, the woman reincarnates in a supporting character, however, both are fated to die and so, it begins their quest for survival by changing the plot of the novel/game. While Otome Game no Hametsu uses a lot of comedy, reverse harem and over the top heroine, The Reason why Raeliana has a more serious tone relying heavily on romance and mystery.

Blend-S is a slice of life comedy and BJNOM is a fantasy comedy, but both have similarities: - a very cute artwork with a romance subplot. - main girl is supposed to be "evil" but she is actually the sweetest of girls. - main boy has a big crush on main girl and wants to watch over her at all times. - Over the top tropes and fanservice & ridiculous setting. If you enjoyed one you'll probably enjoy the other.

Hajimari no Niina
add

Hajimari no Niina started as a one-shot short story just as Hotarubi no Mori e. While the first evolved into a 4 volumes manga, the later was adapted into a movie. These two significantly have different plots and characters and yet you wonder why I'd recommend them: These are perfect examples of short, bittersweet done right. You have a supernatural occurrence in both: In HNN it is reincarnation while in HNME is spirit folklore. However, both have a tormented hero and a much younger not annoying heroine (a child actually). Make no mistake, the hero is no lolicon nor he has any romantic feelings towards the little girl, he is pure of heart. What I deeply loved about these stories is how lovely and profound is the relationship that the protagonists develop over time. It starts as friendship and it goes through the years, maturing, evolving, turning into a deeper, more complex and then, finally slow-burn romantic relationship. And because it's done in the proper way, they are both little masterpieces where you have an extremely likable hero and heroine, ready to pull out your heartstrings.

You wonder why I'd recommend two animes that have a different plot and setting? The answer is simple: these two otome/reverse Harem anime differ greatly from your typical otome anime where you have a passive heroine who seems to have no personality other than being the girl that all guys find irresistible. Here you have for the first time: - In Arcana Famiglia, the heroine just doesn´t stand in a corner being led around, she actually fights for what she wants and she is able to defend herself and make her own choices. - In Norn9 you have not one but three heroines, which is extraordinary and unusual, and one of the three is actually a badass. So if you are looking for a proactive heroine in Reverse Harem genre, search no more because these are probably the only ones you will find.

Do you like anime that makes fun of shoujo troupes? then both of these anime have that similarity. While they have different settings and plot, each one of the characters is dedicated to a troupe. If you enjoy comedy with colorful artwork you might want to try these!

Violet Evergarden
add

At first glance, these two have nothing in common. But if we take a deeper look, we can see that these are two stories about a futuristic world/dystopia and about learning ways to convey feelings. Violet Evergarden heavily relies on the slice of life, episodic format, while Melancholy World delivers Slice-of-life with romance with a connected plot where the main characters are developed. If you enjoy beautiful artwork or very beautiful, poetic quotes, you'll find them in both. In both, we have a heroine which is a special girl with an uncanny ability that was used for research/military purposes and had a lonely existence. She then met a male counterpart who fell in love with her and tried his best to release her from her "duty", until tragedy strikes and something happens to him. Violet Evergarden focus more on Violet and her daily life as well as her flashbacks and interactions with people, while Melancholy World shifts its focus between the protagonists and supporting characters as well as a mystery yet to be solved. If you enjoy one, you'll probably enjoy the other!

Letter Bee and Violet Evergarden are beautiful stories about delivering meaningful letters. Both feature an alternative world where the protagonist is not entirely human and is entitled to deliver those very special letters to different clients. The settings seem to be European-inspired, vintage style, with a hint of sci-fi, as Experiments (Secret organization/Army) were made. Also to mention that the protagonist lost someone very dear to him/her and that lead to his/her current path. Both are slice-of-life with a little bit of adventure/action and amazing artwork, so if you liked one, you'll probably enjoy the other.

Blend S is like the comedy version of Inu Boku SS. You'll notice that the author was inspired by Cocoa Fujiwara's work. First the "S" in the titles. Then you'll notice lots of similarities, even though the plot is different, the character's design is almost identical. You'll also find some characters with the very same personality: - Maika is a loner like Ririchiyo. She is constantly attacked by a blue eyed blonde character (Dino/Nobara) with a persona that finds the heroine extremely moe and nosebleeds etc. - Kaho (BlendS) is a cute blonde with a tsundere persona, like Watanuki in Inuboku SS. - Akizuki is the "deliquent" type like Sorinozuka. - Mafuyu is the "loli" and "quiet" persona like Karuta. - Kagerou (Inuboku) is the Sadist persona, just like the persona that Maika has to play (Blend S). - Natsume (IBS) is cheerful persona like Hideri (BS). If you liked the comedy in Inuboku than you'll like Blend S.

These manga have different plots and yet, many similarities: - Beautiful artwork - Victorian Era fantasy - The main hero makes a contract with a supernatural being in order to discover his past, the secrets surrounding his family and loved ones. However, PH focus a lot more on romance/friendship, while Kuroshitsuji has a focus more on mystery. Still, both present you with lots of action, adventure and mostly, with unexpected twists that will leave you speechless for quite some time. The characters make you get attached to them, with complex personalities and backstories. There are no gary stu or mary sue and you'll be surprised and never get bored because the story progresses in a way that always keeps you wanting to know more. Do you enjoy light romance in Taisho Era? HSGT is an old classic shoujo while OnU is a recent work but both have splendid artwork and a plot that centers around a forbidden love between a fierce japanese heiress and a hero that is socially considered of "inferior" position: while in HSGT the hero is of mixed blood, in OnU the hero is an employee. If you liked one, you'll probably enjoy the other, however, keep in mind that HSGT has better developed characters while OnU is a short manga.

Are you a fan of angsty characters, broken friendships, betrayal and battles? Also awesome Voice actors, animation and soundtrack? These anime even though they have different settings (one is based in ancient Korea, the other is based in ancient Greece), and different plots (one is about evil vs good in the fate of the whole world, while the other is about different sides trying to unify/separate a kingdom), they both have many similarities: - The heroine (Sasha/Yona) is someone that is considered "Divine" and she has a group of followers who have special abilities/powers. She is sweet and naive but through the years she becomes more fierce and independent. - The hero (Tenma/Hak) is someone who excels in physical fights, he is playful and energetic and there are hints he likes the heroine in a romantic way. He would give his life for the people he loves. - The anti-hero/villain (Alone/Soo-Won) is someone extremely intelligent and powerful that used to be the most innocent, kind and gentle of them all until something happened to make him switch sides. These three characters were a group of best friends since childhood, having bonds like a family. Later certain events occur that turn one of them enemy of the other two. Reincarnation plays a big deal in both plots and the characters are all carefully crafted, mostly the relationship of the main trio which will bring out a lot of feelings from you, specially if after the anime you decide to read the manga of both. While ANY has the focus more on politics, war and romance, SSLC has the focus more on fantasy, war and friendship but both are really well done, high-rated series, so if you liked one, believe me, you'll like the other because they really have many similar characters and feels.

If you enjoy LN's with gorgeous artwork and alternative universe, then this is for you. In the Light Beyond Road's End, the heroine is reincarnated into the body of a saint (the most powerful being in the kingdom) while in Common Sense of a Duke's Daughter, the heroine reincarnates in a noble lady from an otome game. These series have actually a similar plot: - Both heroines are living as someone else that had a lot of haters and was considered to be really a "bad person". They struggle to change their behavior and be different from the person they reincarnated into. - In their past self, both heroines had an accident that was hinted that was fatal and that's why they went into another body. The surprising factor is that LBRE focus more on romance/reverse harem than CSoaDD, even though the latter was supposed to be an "otome game" it strongly deviates from it and becomes a story which is heavily influenced by politics and friendship with a strong, intelligent heroine that doesn´t really care about romance.
