5 Centimeters Per Second does an amazing job at establishing the basis for the story-line and immediately connects you with the characters.
The first thing I noticed that I loved so much about this anime was the sound design and how real it all sounded. It truly made me feel immersed in the world.

this don't always perfectly capture this reality. I think that this story allows for almost anyone to be able to relate to the longing for past memories to become real once again. Personally I watched this a couple months after a breakup so I felt even more emotionally connected with Takaki and his personal struggles. I hope others watch this anime and understand that the message is more about being able to move on with your life happily, regardless of what has happened in your past.
