Whereas "Redline" is directed and storyboarded by Takeshi Koike with some key animation by Hiroyuki Imaishi, "Dead Leaves" is directed by Imaishi with some key animation by Koike. Although Dead Leaves is shorter than Redline, both shows are not plot-centric, putting the main focus on the spectacular visuals. However, the premises of the two shows are not related.
