Suzume is a beautiful film, everything from the animation to the music just works. The story is great too despite carrying some of the same themes from previous Makoto Shinkai films but it's different enough to feel fresh, I was afraid that just like "Weathering with You" it was going to try to capture lighting in a bottle again by imitating "Your Name", but I was pleasantly surprised as It really just does its own thing.
This time around the romance takes a backseat and the focus is on the natural disasters and the fantastic elements as well as the journey and growth of its main

character. Being the longest Makoto Shinkai movie I was wondering if it was going to drag just like "Weathering with You" but that's not the case the pacing is extremely good it doesn't take long for the story to get going, and once it gets going it keeps constantly moving whoever towards the end it does slow down a bit, but I didn't found it to be that big of a deal.
But is it as good as "Your Name"? not quite whoever that's an extremely high bar to meet but it's still the second best work from Makoto Shinkai.
Suzume is a great movie that tells its own beautiful story that managed to touch my heart and I'm sure many more.
Pro tip: go see it at the theater if you still have the chance, it is worth it.
