Show starts with MC talking about high school relationships and how often people breakup. The relationships are doomed to fail, MC posits. He wishes he could experience for it himself, but he doesn't believe in his chances. Enter blue hair girl who gets "dumped" in front of him. After which, she proceeds to suck on the guy's used straw. "Desperate" MC says and cringes. Not disgusting or repulsive for a woman to act in this way. Nope, it is "desperate". This is his future "love interest" by the way(Even though they never even become a couple in the show).
MC starts reading gay porn because he
...
hasn't read it yet. He is excited by the prospect of reading something that he has not read before. The sexual nature of the yaoi BL genre is simply ignored. The MC is neither disgusted by the genre(that mainly appeals to young women) nor is he intrigued due to latent homosexual desires. No, he simply reads the yaoi as entertainment. The MC is in this way shown to not exhibit a sex drive. This is one of many moments throughout the series, which are intended for the viewer to assume that the MC is not interested in sex or sexual content. Such lack of interest for a man is effeminizing. Due to his lack of sexual desire, he removes himself from the list of potential love interests.
MC is a repulsive imitation of a man, that is treated as a completely effeminate creature and is playfully mocked by the women he surrounds himself with, due in part to his supposed lack of sex-drive or desire for romance. The reason for this being that he hides his true nature from people around him. The nature of him being a conceited cuckold. And like the conceited cuckold he is, he enjoys this passive role of observer (even though he secretly wishes romance for himself). So instead of going out of his way to pursue his romantic feelings and desires, he lives vicariously through the women he calls "friends". Notably, the main character has no male friends, aside from the grey hair guy. And that entire "friendship" exists only as a result of the MC lying to grey hair guy. A friendship built entirely on a lie.
In essence the MC is the quintessential "white knight". He surrounds himself with women and acts as a therapist and on occasion even "protects their honor" or "right to be upset" as is the case with the blue haired girl. He does this all the while acting as though he doesn't desire any of these women romantically and even goes out of his way to state that he has no interest in any of them. This despite the fact, that he does fantasize about the possibility of experiencing romance himself. But because he goes out of his way to not even attempt romance/show desire for romance he never gets "dumped". This is something that the MC even takes pride in to conflate his own ego.
Episode 6 is contrived and only happens because the MC for whatever reason just doesn't tell the truth to the grey hair guy. But I guess MC just enjoys being a snake to other men. In episode 7 MC puts the blame for grey hair guy's relationship issue onto grey hair guy. MC does this despite the fact, that grey hair guy's girlfriend is obviously in the wrong. MC also yelled at blue hair girl's love interest for "wanting blue hair girl to be happy". How awful! You can't tell a woman how to feel! White knighting behavior from MC. Both of these men acted in a completely reasonable manner yet MC sides against them.
At the end of episode nine blue hair girl spouts a bunch of nonsense about... I honestly don't know. The patriarchy?
"And Komari-chan... What else could she do? It's because she's a girl." I genuinely don't know what this chick is yapping about. Women are powerless and must simply move on? Implying that guys don't do that? What the hell is she on about? Absolute turbonuclear nonsense, and the MC of course just nods along like the wimp that he is. Spineless cretin of a man.
Calling this show a rom-com is laughable. There is no romance plotline, and the show isn't funny in the slightest. It's a love polygon and MC is always the third wheel. I would hardly call the show a comedy either, because the show at no point becomes funny in any way. The women bully the MC. He had it coming.
The MC is on a regular basis humiliated by the women around him. These moments are played off for comedic effect, yet the only reason why they are perceived as comedic is due the fact that the main character has so deeply rejected his own masculinity that he no longer perceives these humiliations as even theoretically possible. The comedy comes from the mere suggestion that the MC ever could do anything sexual with these women, when they so clearly have rejected him as an object of desire. The main character has become so effeminate in behavior and thought that the female "friends" no longer even consider him a man. Or more accurately a man as a sexually/romantically desirable being. He is effectively a woman.
The state of the modern man to be such that a person like Nukumizu is being called relatable? Unimaginable.

Overrated pseudo psycho-babble. Neon genesis evangelion vibes, but much worse in every aspect. I will have to spoil the entire thing in order to get to the issues.
The internet is like wired broo wow this show is so deep I don't even understand what is going on that must mean it is super duper deep! Just because you are too stupid to understand something/come to your interpretations about something doesn't mean that something is deep or meaningful.
The wired is an artificial layer that exists on top of reality. Basically cyberpunk 2077. Everything is connected. Then you also have super powerful people that can manifest themselves
...
into the real world, and can be perceived by people in the real world through the wired. People like Lain. Although Lain isn't actually people she is some kind of program inside a body, artificial intelligence type of thingy. Also everyone has multiple personalities including Lain.
Lain's alternative personality (Tyler Durden) bullies Lain by ruining her relationship with her only friend Alice by spreading rumors about Alice's fap folder. This makes Lain really sad, but there is a false god that uses this sadness to his advantage and makes Lain do a bunch of bad things over the wired because Lain is capable of such things due to her origin. Eventually the world has been totally ruined beyond comprehension, and all people have been effectively lobotomized aside from Alice. Lain through her depression still cares for Alice so she doesn't want to lobotomize her like everyone else. Of course Alice is pretty upset about all the lobotomies that Lain is handing out so she goes to confront Lain and finds Lain in her degen computer room. Alice explains that lobotomies are bad because people are alive which Lain finds neat. Then the false god tells Lain to lobotomize Alice as well, which Alice notices. Lain doesn't want to do that though and ends up confronting this false god.
Power of friendship/lesbo love and basic religious argumentation in favor of god's existence defeats the false god. You have motivations that you can't explain therefore you are not god and a real god must exist. This is not deep. Any christian pastor would use this exact argument against an atheist, but of course because reddit atheists haven't thought about it they find this argumentation incredibly deep. In a fictional setting. In real life they remain atheists.
There is a sideplot about a group of knights and the people that oppose these knights, but that entire plotline is effectively pointless. The knights are miserable people that kill people on the wired, and then you have the people that oppose them. But the leader of the opponents of the knights actually supports the false god or something which is revealed towards the end. Regardless, it changes nothing about the main plot about Lain wrestling with "god".
Ending is not bittersweet, it is just annoying. The world gets reset to a time before one of Lain's schoolmates suicides herself. But the wired no longer exists and neither does Lain, so basically it gets turned into the real world. Nobody remembers Lain even existed, which makes Lain sad. But the only reason why Lain is sad is because she likes Alice, but the only reason why she likes Alice is because she used to be her friend, which was only possible because they were human classmates. But Lain was never human, the entire premise of the relationship is fake, Lain's desire for friendship was born out of her experience living with her family and going to school thinking she was a real girl. And now that Lain knows the truth about herself, she moves on and becomes the weird omnipotent electricity creature she always was.
What exactly is supposed to be sad about this? The entire story was sad, Lain was bullied by her own wired double, terrible things happened to her family, she realised her family wasn't even her family etc. etc. compared to all of this the ending is not sad in the slightest. Except for Alice not remembering her, but again that would only be sad if Lain was a human girl with human girl wants and desires, but that isn't Lain. She is a weird electricity creature, which she realises at the end. She was never friends with Alice, she never could have been friends with Alice. She cares about her, but it is not in the way a human would care for a friend instead she cares for her as an electricity creature would care for a former friend in a former life. Lain is happy. She has come to terms with her own existence. It is only a foolish viewer that finds this sad, for they can not comprehend that Lain is not human, never was and never will be.
The ending therefore is not sad, nor is it bittersweet. The ending is simply annoying. The electricity creature becomes one with the electricity, watching from afar like a weird electricity creature would. Why would I feel happy or sad for this creature? Its motivations and desires are not mortal, it exists in a state devoid of things that make it happy or sad. Only its memories of a former life and the lack thereof could make it feel happiness or sadness and since Lain moved on from that and came to terms with it she feels contentment. Good for her I guess? Either way, it was a total nothing burger of an ending. Nothing ever happen(ed)s.
I think the premise of this alternate realm was interesting and the show starts off great, but it falls off after a couple of episodes when god became a factor. The fake god aspect was in all honesty garbage, especially how Lain defeats the false god. The false god subplot also ruins the IRL Lain trying to fight against wired Lain which was in all honesty far more interesting, but instead Lain vs Lain fight ends abruptly when Lain goes into full on depression mode. The knights subplot was pointless as well. The ending wasn't bittersweet even though it was supposed to be. The ending of Butterfly effect was bitter sweet. A baby commits suicide to stop future terrible events from happening. Now that was a bittersweet ending. This ending wasn't that, it was just boring. But there were a couple of banger quotes in this, Lain is cute and the OP is great. All in all, it is insanely overrated

Hella boring, environmentalist propaganda.
The humans are a bunch of cripples and rejects trying to get by in a war torn land. They mine and chop down trees, which upsets the forest inhabitants such as the violent boars that literally do nothing aside from trying to kill humans. THEIR EXISTENCE IS TO KILL HUMANITY. But these are the creatures in the moral right? The boars should die. Same for the wolves. They are wolves, they exist to kill animals yet is that depicted? Nope. What do they eat? Humans? Genuinely that might be it. Root for the human eating wolves and genocidal boars please!
Girl raised by
...
wolves that eat people is actually super empathetic and loves nature. Oh but she HATES humans. Why? Because people chop down trees and mine ore to make guns. This is your reason for generational hatred? She is just being unreasonable to be honest. According to the movie, mining causes plants to die. And the forest creatures get really angry about this. Ok. So what should the humans do instead? Just die? This genuinely seems to be the suggestion the movie makes. Stop mining, stop chopping down trees and just die. People love this message. Quite odd.
The argument people make about this is that the ore is used to make weapons which is issue. But this doesn't make much sense, because the ground becoming poisoned is a result of the mining itself, not the fact that the ore is used to make weapons. So at the end of the movie when the female leader of Irontown realises that killing is bad, mkay she will just keep mining and continue poisoning the earth. Mining while smiling causes less pollution? Nonsensical stuff. But all the violent genocidal boars are dead so there are no more issues. Genociding other species was actually a good idea and everything worked out for the best for everyone. Unintentionally based?
Then there is the MC who is super chill, but attracted to the genocidal human girl. She never reciprocates these feelings though so it is just weird following this guy trying to rizz up this girl that clearly shows zero interest. (I think she might be furry if you know what I mean). Quite disgusting stuff tbh. Then there is massive tar invasion explosion, which I think is a reference to hiroshima and nagasaki. I think the creator of studio ghibli is still angry about that one. But when the fat ugly bastard character gives away the god's head the tar goes away and nature becomes healed again. The boars got genocided, the wolves are practically extinct as well. But they had it coming.
Overrated af. Princess mononoke is a total B-word, and the ending is a total blue balls anyways. The art is neat and the tree god stuff is cool I guess, but yeah, studio ghibli creator cringe propaganda is so blatant. He also seems to hate good endings.(Although humans winning is in a way a good ending) Maybe because of the bombs.

In a world of single mothers, couple of repressed lesbians start to fight each other on the orders of magic granting creatures. MC starts to sexually assault and molest the opposing females for her own twisted pleasure.
You will see breasts, full on nipple sucking action and other degeneracy.
It goes fully off the rails at episode 5. Episode 6 was some of the most deranged psychological horror stuff I have ever witnessed. We are talking full on diaper, drinking too much water stuff here. DE. RANGED. I do not know what to say really.
Fascinating show, every episode has more titty than you see in hentai but
...
also comedy is involved. Fantastic stuff.

It is good, reminiscent of Mushoku tensei buuuuut worse in pretty much every single way. But still it is good
University student gets trucked into the body of a 6 year old orphan. He soon after gets superpowers and goes to the local academy. I don't personally quite understand why every isekai character has to attend school, it is the middle ages my dude nobody was attending school. The kids behavior is also totally weird 8 year olds acting like high schoolers it just doesn't make much sense. "You are sullying the name of this fine institution with your baseless slander" 8 year old kid says
...
that??? You know what a 8 year old kid would actually say? "PEE PEE POO POO! FORTNITE!" Weird behaviors from characters in this show. Latifa is mentally 18 years old by this point so why does she act like an 8 year old? Hell, physically she is a teenager so again, why does she act like a 8 year old? It doesnt make sense.
MC also acts in this pampering "yes sir" simp way constantly. It is normal MC stuff but in mushoku tensei they actually bring it up but here it is just accepted as fact. Gets a bit annoying.
MC becomes laughably OP as well, dude becomes Goku or something halfway through the season like what?? Rudeus is pretty OP too but never to the point of it becoming silly. In this show MC flies around just casually and beats up a wyvern no biggy. He can also cast all elements, shoot fireballs build a bath in 10 seconds, completely busted balancing.
Events that take place are also a bit weirdly paced, MC goes to a place stays there for a while and then says "btw im leaving soon" Which causes a girl who loves MC to get really sad. THIS HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME MC GOES SOMEWHERE. Yet MC shows no interest in the girls because..... I honestly dont know. It is not explained, you dont get inner monologue or explanation so the only reasonable thing I can assume is that he isnt interested because he is in love with someone else. And this someone else is someone from the other world that he used to know. Im not a big fan of this, it has been 20 years AND YOU DIED, get over it man.
MC motivations for doing what he does are also kind of silly. He is motivated by his desire to take revenge on the guy who killed his mom (reasonable)and his desire to marry a 7 year old girl(not reasonable). Of course by now she is older than 7 years old but he made the promise to marry this 7 year old girl when he was 7 whatever, WHAT IS WEIRD ABOUT IT IS THE FACT YOU STILL REMEMBER THE PROMISE 20 YEARS LATER. In general what he does is just kind of weird, he wants to go to a place because his mom wanted to go there with him. Your mom is dead, why do you still want to go there? "Because he promised his mom" No he didnt, she just wanted to go with him, there was no promise. In mushoku tensei, Rudeuses decisions make sense. The things the characters in general made sense, here I am left wondering why the F is MC trying to cuck blonde guy? Because MC likes his professor? I don't think that is enough of a motivation frankly to plunge a kingdom on the brink of civil war to further chaos, especially as MC has shown no interest in the professor in any other way than compliments and platonic friendship. If you dont want blonde guy to marry your professor then marry her first is all, polygamy is accepted in this world so go right ahead bro.
It is alright but motivations are weird, pacing is off and taking into account by season 2 MC has become the most powerful guy in the universe or something I don't know where it is headed. ALSO FOR A HAREM SHOW THERE IS DISTURBINGLY LITTLE HAREM SETUP. Rudeus got laid by end of season 1 this guy has some catching up to do

Cringe garbage
Guy wants to become best in the world for no reason and then becomes the best in the world for no reason. In the process he creates an army of sicophant women that follow him around and do his bidding, but he has 0 sex drive so he doesn't think about it in a harem way.
The MC simply does not make sense. He is not human. His motivations, progression in power and character growth, all of it is either SKIPPED completely or it simply does not make sense. Why does he want to be the best? Why does he need the army of
...
females? No clue. His motives are beyond mortals to understand.
