Although these two shows are very different in many ways, the main point of the two are similar. Both are about two people coming together in a once in a lifetime friendship over there love for clothes, fashion, and dressing up. Both have beautiful heart-quenching scenes that just make you squeal for joy and even a little splash of drama (more for princess jellyfish) The absolute love and devotion that is given to a special interest and how others react to it is a big part in both shows. Both main characters are finding people they can be themselves around and show off their true passions.

Both have similar aesthetics of cute girls dealing with intense surreal situations. They both have very disturbing times as well as happy times and the overall shock of the characters going through there lives because of what is happening is similar. In another point both of the main characters are very similar in there hesitance to fulfill there destinies despite what all is going on around them.

...then you might like Haibane Renmei add

Made by the same artist, both have a very similar feel. Haibane is a little more lighthearted so I recommend watching this after Boogiepop if your missing the artstyle but wanting more of a light hearted day to day life show.

Both having there main issue being blood, both shows have girls with swords as the main character. They are very different shows but in terms of gore, suspense, tragedy, and plain old putting people on edge they are very similar.

Although this doesn't have any vampire type creatures, the vibe of this show is very similar in terms of despair mixed with wholesome. Both shows are very serious in terms of the fate of the world and the people living in it and both has a person trying to put an end to the misery.
