The story focuses on Riyo, a childlike and naive girl who works a part time job. She is saving up money in order to live with her brother. Her parents separated when they both were young and her brother went to live with her Father. I should also mention that Riyo has a brother complex. At her new job, she meets Kairi and is intrigued by her. Riyo claims her talent is that she can fall asleep anywhere and Kairi is an insomniac. They both are intrigued by each other and Kairi tends to get awfully close to Riyo. While the sparks are there, she
...
cannot help that this guy reminds her of her brother.
Kairi can fall asleep if Riyo is nearby, this happens when they meet and this comes into play later on when she stays at his apartment. She finds his diary and is shocked to read that he confessed to a murder but something seems oddly familiar about their connection. This is a story that plays into the psychological thriller aspects and the end of the story is rather bittersweet to me. The art is fine, but the premise, motivations and outcome will either have you enjoying the maddening yet intriguing story or outright hating it and its protagonists. There is a live action drama available, but I have not seen it yet or can compare it to the manga.
The artwork is fine... but here are a few flaws in the story, such as Riyo only being able to sleep because of her brother being right next to her. This is justified by the plush doll that her brother gave her before he left. And Police Officer Tachibana's inner strife between wanting to help and wanting to uphold the law, yet he doesn't get enough development. It does lead to a moral question of rehabilitation and atoning for ones's sins. Definitely not for the easily offended. But, if you liked Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan, definitely pick this up. This is a lighter version of extreme relationships found in titles such as Happy Sugar Life or Cross and Crime. Some would consider this a tawdry title or paltry paperback, but it's well worth a read.

A body switching story that doesn't shy away from showing how people can use it for their own selfish purposes. The manga focuses on Hina and Ren, two childhood friends that figure out that they have the ability to change bodies. This happens to benefit them both in certain ways, but as some friendships do, they change and falter as they get older. Ren is now a popular student while Hina is ostracized and bullied. Ren has a secret, but he jokes around about it when he wishes he could be direct and honest. Hina is in love with Ren, but the feeling isn't reciprocated.
...
Using this to his advantage, he exploits her infatuation with him and asks to swap bodies... and things start taking a turn for the worse.
The series deals with bullying, codependency, emotional manipulation, homosexuality, jealousy, sex and youthful ignorance. The series is a quick and engaging read. The artwork is fine for what it is, but the story more than makes up for that. We get to deal with two people who feed off of each other in an unhealthy way. The power dynamics change and the story ultimately comes to an end. There is a brief epilogue, but it leave you wanting more since it brings up some interesting questions. The manga isn't preachy and it deals with the consequences in a realistic manner, especially since not everyone reacts positively to the events that they went through. As of this writing, the manga is still available for free on the Manga Plus app. This is highly recommended and I'm looking forward to Gaku Kajikawa's next project.

A great manga about bullying, codependency, ennui, human nature, relationships and self-doubt. Why do people deal with bullying and tolerate/ignore it and why do others desperately want to pay their tormentor back with vigilante-style revenge? What do you do when you have a girl that's out of your league and can only deal with it by acting like a nervously horny teenager that lacks confidence? Why would you help out and enable the same people that have tormented you? Will you ever grow up and break out of your awkward adolescence?
At first, the reaction faces annoyed me... then I recognized this was from the creator
...
of the crude manga turned anime "The Ping Pong Club" and it made sense. As for the story, two bullied motorcycle otaku deal with life and school, while keeping their passion a secret as to not incur the wrath of their tormentor. The series is definitely for mature audiences and it goes to some dark places in spots, showing off how cruel and vile people can be, but there's humor and a story that will draw you in. I started this manga and immediately finished it in one sitting. Decent ending, wish there was a bit more to it but that's a minor gripe.

There was an erotic manga series called "Bondage Fairies" that was published in the late 90s by Eros Comix. It was about two cute forest fairies with libidos that knew no limits, and they'd hook up with animals, birds and insects in the woods. It sounds and looks better than my attempt to describe it. If you're into that sort of material, it would educate AND titillate since there was actual educational sections that described insect behavior and anatomy. As the old saying goes, it'd be a title you'd "read for the articles" since it was informative. "Hoshigari Sugi desho!? Inaba-san" is definitely influenced by
...
this series.
Loosely translated as: "Isn't it too much, Inaba-san?", I never would have guessed that a "Killing Bites" spin-off with the cute bunny Inaba would follow "Bondage Fairies" in the same educational eroticism, albeit in a softcore manner. After winning her fights by sheer luck and accident, this bunny needs to blow off some steam. The problem is that she is really scared of other Beastmen, but since she has the genetic makeup of a rabbit, she wants something other than a carrot. She signs up for an escort service and decides to give these Beastmen a hand and learns about the male organs of different animals. You find out how different animal genitalia is and the erotic hijinks that ensue. It's not a doujinshi or a hentai series. There is no female nudity or copulation. This is a silly sex comedy, plain and simple. So far there's 6 chapters and even a special guest appearance. Definitely a title specifically made for a niche fanbase, you'll get hilariously sexy mishaps and some National Geographic-esque animal facts. If you liked "Murenase! Seton Gakuen" but wished it were lewd, then this is your dream come true.
