A boy gets thrown into prison for killing all his classmates, which he clearly didn't do. There was obviously a conspiracy. In the end I had my suspicions about why they took him in, but now after finishing this anime I am still waiting for a satisfying explanation.
The main character never stopped to amaze me at how useless he is. He has some good moments, but most of the time he just annoyed me. The other characters are sometimes alright and sometimes just weird. And not all of them are weird in a kinda cool way... I can't imagine anyone behaving that way... However the
...
main characters closest friend withing Deadman Wonderland is one of those weird but cool people. She is as strange as an alien, but I liked it.
All whats happening is evolving around this group of people that have special powers, who are trying to fight their way to freedom.
I was done with this anime once the main antagonist the so called ultra-priest (no kidding) entered the stage... his weapon was an electrical guitar (again: no kidding). But since I already invested too much time into watching this, I couldn't just stop here, so I kept going.
There was one really nice twist! Which sadly is the only nice thing I have to say about the storyline. Due to this twist, the ending is left open, so I guess the manga will tell you the rest of the story.
I wouldn't really recommend watching this anime, but it could be worse I guess.

A girl on to fight against monsters, a secret organisation and powerful enemies! If you want to enjoy an anime with a dark tune, complex story and really great charakter development, Blood+ would be a good choice! But beware if you get too close to certain charakters, your heart might get broken!
If you are looking for a fun and happy anime series, don't watch it. As I said before the anime is rather dark and as the name says bloody. There are some scenes that can be considered cruel (not only in a physical way).
And one more warning, before the praise: If you're expecting tons
...
of action filled scenes, there will be some, but not as many as you might expect. Don't watch it if you get easily bored if there is no fight every five minutes.
Very short summary: Saya needs to fight vampirelike creatures called Chiropteran, only she can kill. At her side are her friends, that support her and whom she wishes to protect. Her enemies on the other hand wish to create a world filled with Chiropterans and try to persuade Saya, that she should support them.
Of course there is as usual a good side and a bad side. However Sayas enemies are not all pictured pure evil. There is no absolute black and white sight. Neither is Saya pictured as a flawless heroine. At some point you might even find yourself to be a little repelled.
There are many episodes that follow a rather slow tune and can look like filler episodes at first glance. I still enjoyed them, because they showed how the characters changed as a response to all the traumatic things happening to them. It makes them all the more believable and helped me to get attached to them.
I watched Blood+ two times now. The first time I was much younger than now. The second time I found myself beeing drawn to different characters than the first time. So this might be a sign that there is someone to like for younger and older people ;)
And last but not least, soundtrack and art are amazing! It fits the scenes very well and manages greatly to draw you in!
I hope this was helpful to you! Enjoy watching!

If you enjoy movies that show you very detailed and beautifully drawn characters and their surroundings, you might like this movie. It would also help for you not to mind the rather slow pacing, which turns it into a believable story. In my opinion the soundtrack is really beautiful and suits the film very well.
I'm not a very romantic person at all. So you don't need to like "love actually" and the like, to enjoy 5cm per second. When I watched the movie with friends, they were even disappointed, because they expected something more romantic and heartwarming. However I think it is a kind of
...
sad but beautiful story!
About the story: Two children, Akari and Takaki, get to know each other in school. Both of them just moved there and they don't know anyone else yet. Since they prefer the library over going outside, they end up becoming good friends. They find out that they have a lot in common, but then they both have to move with their parents and end up farther and farther away from each other. Eventually they lose touch.
The story is told from Takakis perspective and how he deals with it. I think it is really easy to relate to his character or Kanaes, a girl that falls in love with him after he moved to Kagoshima.
The movie compared to the manga: I really enjoyed both very much. I watched the movie first and then read the manga. The way I see it you might get the story a bit better after reading the manga and then watching the film. However you don't have to read the manga first to understand the movie. It's just that the story in the manga is a bit deeper than shown in the film.
Now you have to see for yourself, enjoy!

I really love Hayao Miyazaki films. Princess Mononoke is probably the darkest one of his films, which as I think makes it that compelling at some point. The great and detailed style of drawing drew me in once again. Just like the great soundtrack, the good pacing and great story telling did.
But there is always one little thing that annoys me: why do especially the main characters in your movies have to look pretty much the same? Why Hayao Miyazaki?
(I know that he is probably doing that on purpose to increase the recognition value of his films, but still I'd fall more in love with
...
more individual looking characters.)
Leaving that aside Princess Mononoke is a great piece of art. Since I grew up in a western culture, I don't now that much of japanese folklore by heart. However the way this story was told and animated it was able to evoke the feeling that the idea of kami in the woods shaped like gigantic wolves or boars e.g. was nothing unusual. Watching this movie you get really drawn to this mystic and beautiful world and I for one really rooted for the spirits to win against the humans.
Another part of this film that makes it great is that there is not an absolute black and white way of telling this story. The film tries to get you to view the characters stories "with eyes unclouded". However it is pretty obvious that the kami and other residents of the forest are the characters shown in a more sympathetic way. Thats because the film wants to get its watchers to think more critically about what we humans do to our environment. And I think it really DOES get you thinking. Which is not only own to the course of the story but also the way the environments are drawn. (pay attention to it when you watch it, if you haven't all along)
At the end I have to point out one thing that bugged me a little. Actually this refers rather to another one of his movies: Spirited away. There are really obvious soundtrack similarities, some melodies even sounding pretty much the same. But since Spirited away came out a few years later than Princess Mononoke I don't mean to critizise this movie. It's more or less the same as I stated with the looks of the characters. So, just saying.
Overall it's a great movie. So, watch it! :)
