What an absolute blast this was to watch, after just watching it for the 2nd time, I can confidently say that it's the best , if not one of the best anime of the year for 2022.
I loved every bit of it, straightforward story with plenty of hype to boot, was awesome on all fronts, from the animation to the action and fights, to the characters, and the opening and ending themes, especially the ending themes and everything in-between, the author and the studio really made gold together.
I could probably write an essay about what I loved about the thrill ride that I have just

witnessed unfold, buy I'll try to keep it short and firstly must start by praising the animation.
Mappa has struck gold once again, expertly adapting the story, with perfect visuals, I haven't felt like anything was really out of place and it was a real treat for the eyes, that probably makes me a sick person for the large amount of gory stuff that we've seen and the blood that was spilles, or should I say spattered all over the place, lol, but hey they made it look really thrilling, colorful and exciting.
Especially in the fights, like wow, the CGI was so on point too, very rare to see that in anime, Mappa has improved alot over the years and it shows, also the choreography for such fights were super on point as well, fluid and perfect, I really can't complain, with the amount of hype I felt I just have to take my hats out to them.
Finally about the animation, I must say that the opening absolutely slapped, along with the ending themes, visually stunning and absolutely artistic. Can't believe they actually made a new ending theme for each episode, like are you kidding me? These guys are so committed, and on top of that, they all were amazing, completely random and so creative as well, plus more than half the ending songs were bangers, soundtracks absolutely slapped as well, especially the opening too, the more I listen, the more I love the tracks.
As for story I was most impressed, surprisingly original for the most part, such as the concept and powers, and by ep8 and especially ep9 I was more than impressed, I was freaking shocked to my core, like goddamn, that was some crazy shid that went down, I wouldn't have ever dreamed something like that would've went down.
The twists in the story were superb right through, ep8 and 9 were the peak of insanity that it was, I love when a story is unpredictable and just straightforward downright entertaining to watch and unfold.
As for the concept of devils and devil hunters, I must say it was a nice way to put things, felt like a familiar but slightly different Shonen type dynamic, but the way they handled it when incorporating the story is what made it awesome, the fiends and devils powers too were quite original at times, most of them at least , really appreciate the creativity of the weirdness and goriness of them.
Now on to the characters who made the story great, at the forefront of the story and who is most intriguing and interesting to watch will definitely have to be Makima, we've seen her numerous times, we've also seen her in action, but we still have no clue what her real motives are or how her powers work and how much does she know, she's the most mysterious person on the show and that's what makes her the most interesting, we can only guess what she really wants.
As for our other cast, I have to say Himeno was a lovely addition, and of course Aki as well, your typical revenge driven guy, just how Denji put it, but also badass, cool and likeable, you can't hate on him at all, or any of the cast, which is hilarious and ironic considering they are stonecold killers as well, Kobeni was irritating at first but we found our she's a badass and saved Denji so that fixed her.
And finally for our main 2 whackjobs, we'll start off with Power, she is such fun to watch, absolutely crazy and surprisingly smart at the same time, she was pretty funny, and her motive to fighting at first is admirable, it proves that even killers and monsters can change if they have something to protect or believe in.
And last but not least, our main nutjob Denji, there is absolutely nothing redeeming about him at all...
But that's what I love about him, we know there's gonna be a ton of carnage that's gonna take place with him at the forefront of the story, with a protagonist who doesn't give a shit about anyone or anything besides himself, nothing holds him back and he can really shine through and be a serious force to be reckoned with, I just made that sound good in a way but I just want him to shred more stuff with his chainsaw, lol.
He's had a hard life and I don't blame him for the way he acts, after how he's been treated and forced to live, but we see he really has come a long way, and his motives are most admirable, he just wants to experience the simple things in life, LOL!
Lastly I just want to comment on the underlying mystery of it all, it has really set itself up well in the story, there's so many questions we need answers to such as who is the main villain, why do they want Denji, what is Makima's deal and what is she really after? Are our team really the good guys and are our villains really the bad guys? And most importantly, what exactly does Denji's dream mean and who was it at the end of that cliffhanger?
So many questions I need answers to, and still no S2 announcement yet, I have no doubt that it'll get a 2nd Season due to how big of a Smash hit it was, but not having an announcement as yet just sucks, I'm probably gonna have to wait for years at this rate, especially with what's going on with Mappas workers, they're terrible working conditions are just tragic, I really hope things work out for them.
Just pray we really do get that next season soon.
I remember saying at the start how I'd try to keep it short but oh well, here's my essay, the fact that I'm this passionate about discussing this shows how special of a show it really was, I highly recommend it to anyone out there who can handle the craziness and extreme violence and goriness of it all.

What the heck happened to the plot this season? 🤣 Rudeus' new mission now was to cure his "curse" , which pretty much took almost the whole season, like bruh.
SPOILERS AHEAD, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! But hey, they did partially fix the one and only flaw I personally have with this isekai and the story, which is the fanservice, which has been abit too hectic and very unnecessary for me personally, but I see now that it will hopefully change for the better, since Rudeus is committed and knows the feelings and value of love, especially after being a wreck since Eris left him. Glad his ... Apr 6, 2023
A nice, wholesome sequel season, definitely a big improvement from S1, for the characters and the slice of life/romance aspect. I don't know what it is about this show, but I just keep coming back for more every episode. I'm glad Naoto and Nagatoros dynamic and friendship/ relationship has grown, slowly, very slowly, but most satisfyingly and surely. There is alot less bullying and alot more teasing, embarrassing and wholesome moments, and finally abit of real romance at the end there, thank God. I'm glad Naoto finally pulled through, love the subtle and slow but satisfying character development, and I'm praying for a S3 announcement.
