This anime felt a lot like a more in-depth version f the beginnings of 5cm per Second. Similar plot, with young middle school kids having developed some sort of friendship or relationship with Tsukigakirei going a little bit more deeply into their developing feelings for one another. Both have a similar story with how the female character moves away during their high school years, however Tsukigakirei has the ending that would pretty much be the "what if?" ending for 5cm if the two ended up working out the distance problem and ended up together. Tsuki ga Kirei is a lot more detailed, considering it is a 12 episode series as opposed to a three part special.

Both series revolve around a slow and awkward love story between the main male and female characters and how their relationships grow. In Plastic Memories, the two main characters find themselves as coworkers, but the female only having a set amount of time remaining. The story follows how they become work partners, and how over time they develop romantic feelings for each other, even knowing the impending end looming for the female protagonist. in Tsukigakirei, the two main characters are middle school students in the same class, and they take notice to each other. As the story carries on, they too develop feelings for each other, although in a more realistic setting and with more realistic interactions. Where both series are similar is in how the romances are carried on. Both series have a more awkward relationship that slowly and sweetly become more heart warming. Both series' romances start building much stronger towards the end, where in both series, the female protagonist only has limited time left to be with the male character; PlaMemo's girl's lifespan is coming to an end while Tsuki ga Kirei's girl is moving away for high school. They both have a heartwarming and bittersweet ending, and are definitely a must watch for romance fans!

While both series involve Mecha and corrupt governments and military powers, both series are more closely related due to many of the characters morals and what they view as right and wrong in their respective worlds. While Code Geass is a little more straight forward with who the good guys and bad guys are, Gundam SEED has a little bit more complexity to it, as the protagonists on both sides of the war have their own views own justice and who is doing the right thing.

Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch

Everyone seems to make this comparison because of the extremely overpowered abilities of Light Yagami of Death Note and Lelouch Lamperouge of Code Geass. Both protagonists are genius characters in their own right, and have a strong manipulative personality that, along with their acquired uses of a Death Note and a Geass, respectively, allows them to ultimately fight towards their own idea of a "better world."
