Re:Zero S2 Second Cour ended today, and I am absolutely furious that I have to wait for who knows how long until I see a continuation. This review will contain minor spoilers but nothing that would make you want to drink drain cleaner
Story: Re:Zero S2 P2 is much much much more story/backstory oriented than part one. It delves into Emilia backstory, Roswaal backstory, Beatrice backstory, The Sanctuary's origins, Ryuzu and Garfiel, even fucking ELSA! We find the answers to a lot of the questions that part one raises, like how the sanctuary was formed, Why is Emilia so traumatized. wtf is ryuzu, more betty info,
...
why is Garfiel such a cranky bitch, and most importantly, Roswaal's motives. I can't say much more about the story than that its amazing. The highlight of the season though is definitely Emilia's backstory with Regulus and Pandora and the saving of the mansion.
Art: The art is good, but I would say it looks a bit worse than last season. For some reason, Subaru is drawn so weirdly a lot of the time this season, Like only Subaru. Other than that, the animation is good, nothing that will make you orgasm but nothing that will make you want to drop the show either. Garfiel vs Elsa looked sexy asf though.
Sound: Re:Zero has a great ost as always. OP and ED were good, but probably the worst Re:Zero has seen. nothing much more to comment here.
Characters: Ahh, Re:Zero characters. While many believe Re:Zero's characters are its weak point, I think its quite the opposite. Re:Zero has some of mthe most complex and detailed characters I've ever seen. Specifically, Subaru. Everyone fucking hates Subaru, and I've never gotten why. Subaru in Re:Zero season 1 is a FLAWED CHARACTER. A flawed character does not equal a bad character, like Reiner from AOT, Shinji from eva (hot take) or etc. Subaru's pride and selfishness make his character development the most satisfying character development I've ever seen. This part of the season showcases the Subaru with newly found confidence after Otto set him straight. We actually see Subaru a bit less this part of the Season, so Subaru haters, what are you complaining about? Emilia got the development she most definitely needed. Her influence from Subaru and her backstory being opened up to her made her great this season. Beatrice opened up, Best boy Otto got development and went full badass mode Garfiel faced his past, Ram revealed her love for Roswaal and the extent it goes to, Roswaal got FUCKING OUTPLAYED WOOOOOOOO, and I'm interested to see where they will take his character into the next arc. We got to see Betelgeuse again, and we also meet remeet Regulus, and meet Pandora. Regulus is easily one of my favorite villains of all time, and I'm sure we'll see Pandora again. Overall, Re:Zero has fantastic characters that make you keep watching.
Enjoyment: As you can tell, I think I enjoyed Re:Zero.
Overall: I highly recommend this series to most. If you are looking for a more action based series, this might not be for you, but otherwise, Re:Zero presents a strong story with well fleshed out characters that will have you falling in love with the series

Finally got around to watching this classic, and I have to say, I wasn't disappointed. Code Geass is pure fun in anime/mecha. I haven't been able to binge at all recently, but I watched Code Geass in a matter of 1-2 days. Let me explain why I believe this anime is so much fun. Review contains spoilers.
Code Geass is centered around Lelouch, an ex noble who fled to Japan out of hatred for his fathers way of rule and his disinterest in his mothers death (which he likely has something to do with). Britannia then takes over Japan, and Lelouch is believed to be dead,
...
but he is just living under the alias Lelouch Lamperouge with his sister Nunnally. Code Geass' story is definitely its weak point. While I am invested in the story, it's hard not to notice some of the glaring flaws in it. Why does Lelouch completely remove Shirley's memories of him when he could've just told her to forget he was Zero? How convenient is it that his Geass acts up right as he makes a joke to Euphemia about her killing the Japanese? Why does Nina exist? The story can be downright silly at times, but I believe that's what makes it much more enjoyable at times. It flows along well even though it feels a little funny occasionally. One thing I like that Code Geass does is stringing in filler episodes with important plot points. The most important example of this is episode 21. Code Geass also loves its cliffhangers, and for the most part they are good cliffhangers. The biggest cliffhanger we got was the one at the end of the season thought. Code Geass episodes also sometimes follow an episodic pattern, where Lelouch and the zeroes try to stump Cornelia's plans, and some form of plot convenience keeps anything major from happening. Critical people will probably see this and want to gouge their eyes out, but I personally didn't mind, as material is still covered enough so that it makes the fights worthwhile. The story itself is sufficient enough to keep me entertained, pretty much.
Code Geass has pretty great art for its time. The mecha fights have clean animation and I like a lot of the color usage. The hardest part to get used to in Geass would most likely be the character designs. Everyone is drawn really tall and really really skinny, look at Shirley and Milly for example, makes Risa from Lovely Complex look like nothing. While it was strange looking at characters who looked like they hadn't eaten in years at first, I honestly really like the designs now. My main complaint with the art is that sometimes faces look weird, Lelouch in particular.
The soundtrack is fucking bomb. The first opening and ending are easily both in my top 5's. The second opening is good, but the second ed wasn't great in my opinion. 3rd op only played twice so I don't really remember is lmao. Other than the openings, the soundtracks in the show are amazing. The one song with the trumpet is honestly my favorite, and I love the Spanish inspired feel all the music has.
Characters are great for the most part. Lelouch is is awesome. He doesn't live up to Light Yagami or other characters, but he's a great lead. Suzaku is a great character as well, as his motives become clear after Mao reveals he killed his father. Kallen is one of my favorites, as I like her split school and Black Knight personality. She's really fun and her mothers backstory is great. The student council is great too, except for one character (we know who I'm talking about). Rivalz is probably my favorite in the council, he's one of the fuinniest characters in the show. I like Lloyd, but I want to know more about him. Same with C.C., as I sometime forget she exists with the lack of development she had this season (why did they kiss?). Obviously though, the greatest character in the show is Jere- sorry, I mean Orange. Great characters!
I loved this anime. I've heard the ending is spectacular, so i'm very hyped for the second season.
If you are looking for an incredibly deep and complex story like Death Note or Evangelion, you will not find that here, but instead, you will find one of the most fun mecha anime out there!

I'm a huge Re:Zero fan, and this season absolutely blew my expectations out of the water.
I absolutely adore what they've done with this season, and I was instantly hooked in on the first episode where they wasted no time setting up a conflict.
Story: 10
Some light-ish spoilers in here, but not too many. This seasons story answers a lot of questions from season 1 and leaves some still unanswered, but it is only the first half of the season. It answers questions like, Who is Roswaal? What are Roswaal and Beatrice's connection? Who are the other witches besides Satella? and etc. This seasons story is just
...
absolutely phenomenal and gives us more backstory and more information on everything, while giving us more questions and keeping us hooked in.
Characters: 10
Probably the most controversial topic in Re:Zero is the characters, specifically Subaru. In my opinion, I believe characters are this shows strong suit. Subaru has to be one of my favorite MC's in anime. The reason being that his character growth is shown so well, especially throughout this season. Subaru went from being a man who wanted to justify himself by making himself think he was doing it for other people to a a man who feels like he genuinely needs to help people. New characters like Garfiel, Frederica, and Ryuzu do really good jobs as newer characters. I'm also really glad Otto got more time to shine as I love his character, and we see more of Beatrice, Roswaal, and Elsa. Re:Zero did phenomenal with characters.
Art: 9
No complaints about the art, it looked about as good as last seasons. Rabbit scene was insane. A few times that some faces looked weird, and i noticed Subaru's face looks different in some later episodes, but otherwise that's it.
Sound: 10
soundtrack is amazing as always. New OP is great and the voice acting is top tier
Enjoyment: 11/10
Wasn't bored for one second. Absolutely loved this season.
Overall: 10/10
If you enjoyed Re:Zero s1, you're in for a real treat. The plot goes deeper, we get to understand some more characters and things we didn't understand before, with a beautiful soundtrack and great art to go along with it.
This has to be one of my favorite seasons of an anime even though it's not even over yet. Excited to see what will come in January 2021!
