Review Anime
Rokka no Yuusha
Review Text
Story: 9/10
The main plot is pretty simple, with six heroes chosen to defeat a great evil. So why did I give it a 9/10, instead of the 6/10 it "surely deserves"? That's because the author decided to add a twist to it: instead of six heroes, he added a seventh. In that case, one among the seven would forcefully be a traitor. The details added to each episode are all meaningful to the end of this series, which explains the slow pace. The slow build-up paid off big time by the series' end. It will keep making you think until the very
...
end.
Art: 8/10
Just like my previous reviews, I won't bother with the art, since it's a very subjective category. However, I should note that the animation is on par with the standards, without CGI, and that the characters look quite different from one to another. I love the old Meso-american-styled clothing and environment though, it's pretty fresh and new. Aside from all of that, the camera angles were absolutely splendid.
Sound: 8/10
Just like Art, I won't bother, because these two are the most subjective themes ever, though I'll say that the main character's voice actor did a good job at handling the "cocky" and confident personality of Adlet Mayer. Fremy's voice actress made a very great portrayal of her character and sounded extremely realistic.
Character: 9/10
The character section is really the one thing that sets Rokka no Yuusha apart from a "regular" anime. Though Adlet looks like a typical shounen character on the first scenes, I'll assure you that he really isn't, following the gathering of heroes, with the tension building up around him. Also, Adlet, as a main character of a supernatural/fantasy anime, surprisingly does not harbour any magic nor superhuman characteristics, despite the magic-imbued/superhuman comrades. In this aspect, he represents the audience and is a character which all of us viewers are able to relate to. The other heroes do well in their own areas, complementing each others and Adlet himself as a character.
Enjoyment: 10/10
As I said, I love the old Meso-American civilizations-inspired environment, as it gives off that exotic look to soothe my tired eyes, usually staring at schools, classrooms, cities or wastelands when watching anime. And as I previously mentioned, I love the characters and their respective quirks, along with the tension built around them.
Overall: 10/10
Despite even being a completely truthful adaptation of the original light novel, Rokka's current rating on MAL (7.83/10) is pretty disgustingly low as of today, 20/09/2015
Both Rokka's and Mahouka's anime adaptations ROUGHLY HAVE THE SAME RATING (7.83 vs 7.80)
WTF
MAL, ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT WHAT SEPARATES A SHIT-TIER ANIME TO A GOD-TIER ONE IS BUT A MEASLY 0.03/10?!
Notice/Credentials: I read the novel version, so my knowledge on the franchise is rather extensive.

I will be evaluating this anime according to the circumstances surrounding its production. That is mostly because it was the FIRST anime to be produced by its respective studio. In other words, I will be ignoring the censoring part and carry on as an uncensored version watcher.
Also, as of credentials, I've watched all 13 episodes and read the manga as well.
Story (main plot): 2/10
Clearly, the beginning was rushed, but that was inevitable (far too many characters to handle in 13 episodes). The premise was extremely rough for the series and was the reason for many drops (including the censorship). The reasons behind the
...
crew's expedition to Mars sounded more like an excuse than anything. And so, yes, 2/10 for the main plot. However, I am only giving this grade because of the MAIN PLOT.
Many sub-plots centering around the main characters made the anime extremely enjoyable (see character rating)
Art: 7/10
Art style is pretty subjective, but I appealed to me. However, if argued that the cockroaches' designs were lazy (they pretty much have the same face), then I'd just reply that if they had to give a difference face to EVERY single cockroach on Mars, then the budget would explode (think about it, in war anime, soldiers are all dressed to same way).
Sound: 8/10
Sound is very subjective too, but I think the OSTs were great and dramatic, fitting the anime's overall theme. Great opening too.
Character (sub-plot): 9/10
Many main characters are very likeable. One is able to identify to many of them simply because of the screen time spent on their respective backgrounds on Earth, as well as their reasons of joining the expedition. The characters of Terra Formars were its strongest point. Now I won't go further into details because I don't want to spoil anyone.
Enjoyment: 8/10
I literally watched it for the characters (and their own unique sub-plots), not for the plot itself. Also, being a manga reader gave me much more details about the anime, so it was much more enjoyable 8/10
Overall: 7/10
After a bumpy start, the anime redeemed itself around episode 6~7 and kept getting better from that point on. Along with the fact that it was the FIRST anime to be produced by its studio, I believe that I can safely give the anime a 7.

I was about to drop the Yu-Gi-Oh anime series with Zexal. Seriously.
But Arc-V brought me back.
As a real life YGO player and an anime fan, I can say that this series satisfied me.
Story 7/10: The story is about a young boy named Yuya Sakaki trying to become as great as his father once was. It's pretty standard for a plot, but the way they developed it while including the three main card mechanic (Fusion/Synchro/XYZ) along with the new Pendulum Summon was good. It starts a bit slow and might not avoid confusion sometimes (even though it might just be intended).
Art 8/10: The animation
...
is as good as Zexal's, maybe better. It is very fluid when some boss monsters are summoned.
Character 8/10: Yuya's dream is to become a professional entertainment duelist. This time around, we actually have a character with a set goal in mind, and somewhat better dueling skills (compared to Yuma). He had a few good development episodes as well. Other characters such as Yuzu and Shun were pretty nice as well, Yuzu also being a reminiscent of Akiza from 5D's as we actually got to see her duel a few times. In general, the characters seem less forced.
Enjoyment 9/10: While other series focused on their own main summoning ways (Fusion/Synchro/XYZ), this one brings all of them together, which somewhat makes me nostalgic (I'm a synchro player in real life, so I feel pumped every time I see a synchro summon in the anime).
Overall 8/10: This is Zexal done right. Nuff said.
