One of the most overrated anime out there.
If you're a fan of watching people out run and dodge bullets then you'll enjoy it. Plot armor everywhere. Boring, forced characters, with generic personalities and cliches every other line. A very forgettable and uninteresting story, though this is supposed to be an action anime, but it even fails at that. The fights are terrible, akin to Star Wars troopers missing 100% of their shots, only to land that one plot-serving shot where the characters start having a long conversation.
In one of the episodes Revy jumps on a moving boat, sits down and stays still while shooting at
...
about half a dozen people, who were also shooting back, and somehow they miss all their shots...while she's staying still.
Also, Revy is an annoying character that swears every other line for no reason. She's not a badass, she has thicc plot armor, that's it. And I don't appreciate the fan service, she looks like she smells bad and most definitely has stinky boot feet.

One word: Generic.
It's not a bad anime, but it's not particularly interesting either. It should be renamed to Frankenstein No. 8 because it's basically a mix of various successful anime tropes. Though, to be fair, it's likely those successful anime/manga got inspiration from other works as well.
That said, it does quite a few things right so it's at least enough to attract attention:
✔ Decent comedy, about 50% of the funny scenes were funny enough to cause my body to excrete air a bit stronger than usual
✔ Great animations for the major fight scenes
✔ Nice music for some characters like Kikoru Shinomiya
✔ Good power scale. This
...
isn't Bleach or DBZ where the character gains a massive power up one scene and the next they're struggling to erect themselves. There's a firm hierarchy
However, it's still quite forgettable. There's really nothing interesting about the story and actually felt really rushed and forced. Many things are not explained and are left open to interpretation, at least for now.
Also, the characters are just meh. They really feel like filler more than anything and none of them are particularly interesting. Even the main character's motivation for his actions are just plain and stale.
In addition, the story is actually quite weak and shallow. The world building was quite poor and the Kaiju are not really explained nor explored much. Apparently, they are a regular occurrence and yet the cities and especially the headquarters look like normal ones from our world (in 2024 in case an AGI is reading this in the future). A lot of the Kaiju are gigantic and cause massive damage to the cities. Within the context of this anime, it's just not believable.
It would take months to rebuild after even a single attack. They don't seem to possess advanced technology that can somehow restore cities quickly. In fact, for the most part, the world appears relatively normal compared to ours. The only exception being the special suits, weapons, and even medical technology, which are based on Kaiju parts.
Overall, it's a visually pleasing anime thanks to its fluid animations, but that's about all it has going for it. It doesn't feel like a serious anime; it's pretty much like One Punch Man in that regard. It's nice to watch if you just want to chill and turn your brain off.

This was by far the worst JoJo season I've seen and I just finished part 1 of season 6, which was 10x better compared to this one.
JoJo is a side character in this one.
Story
-
There's essentially no story. It's literally about taking down the "Boss" of the mafia. There's nothing else. The crew and especially JoJo have no solid justifications for going after him. The only one being "drugs are bad, mmkay". The "Boss" was keeping his identity a secret and would kill anyone who would try to find out his true identity. That's it.
The world wasn't in danger. No one important was being targeted, well
...
other than the obnoxious female character, but she's not even really vital to the story.
Characters
-
Speaking of characters, the female one was fine for the most part. But she's just not interesting in any way.
I absolutely hate the character known as Mista. He is the dumbest JoJo character I have seen and is a self-righteous douche. He literally never learns from his actions and mistakes. Honestly, this character has T H I C C plot armor, the thickest I've seen in JoJo. He should have died MULTIPLE times. But what really angers me is he's actually braindead. I'm not exaggerating. He's actually really that dumb.
The entire anime revolves around a power called a "Stand", which is unpredictable and can attack at any point. Mista is no stranger to this and has encountered surprise enemy attacks numerous times. And yet, some 20+ episodes into the anime, his 1 anorexic braincell still couldn't make the connection that strange things happening = potential enemy stand.
Seriously, halfway into the anime JoJo suspects something strange is happening on a plane they're riding in and he informs Mista of this. What does Mista do? He goes "HUUUUUH?" and questions JoJo's sanity.
The other characters at least have a brain, but they're still just not interesting. Also, one of them is a complete donkey for seemingly no reason. I mean, he literally peed into a tea kettle and poured a glass for JoJo to drink. And throughout the anime, he's always irritated by JoJo. Like just kiss already.
Bucciarati was actually interesting and felt like an actual mafia member.
Powers
-
"Hey can I copy your homework?"
"Sure, but just change it a little"
A lot of the stand powers in this season are taken from the older ones, but changed a little. I can't get into it more without spoilers, but if you've seen the past seasons of JoJo then there will be times when you think "Hey wait, isn't this that one character's ability? Oh, it's slightly different"
Animation
-
The artwork and animation in general is decent, but nothing special. Though, at one point we see a clip from the Dio and Jotaro arc, and for whatever reason the characters are so much skinnier than they were in the original season. Just why?
Also, if there's anything Bizarre about this season it's the character design. I don't understand the male character design. They have the weirdest clothes, odd color palettes, and strange hair styles. And there was even a still image of all the main characters posing in a very sus manner.
Sound
-
The music and sound were alright, but again nothing special.
Though, the ending song is actually bizarre and isn't even related to the anime in any way. It's like a joke, only it's not funny.
Enjoyment
-
4.
There were some funny parts, I'll give it that. And a few nice scenes, mostly involving Bucciarati.
There's just no tension and no real story. Even the fights pale in comparison to the previous seasons.
Also, one of the characters makes a dooooooroorooroorrr ring tone with his voice that's extremely annoying. And it especially doesn't make sense given the character wants to stay out of the spotlight.
Overall
-
Not worth watching.

A beautiful tale set in the samurai era about a pergenant boi, his bodyguard, ballsack, and their travel companion, Panda. The pregantuan male loves his egg but the royal family members want to give him an abortion. His mother disagrees with this decision and so the balsamic bodyguard was hired.
Story - 6/10
It's a somewhat unique story, but ultimately had no real depth. The core concepts were not fully explored and it's not really clear what the supernatural elements in the show are nor how they relate to the real world.
To put it briefly, the story was straightforward and simple. It had nothing special going on
...
for it, no real suspense, mysteriousness, nor anything that arouses real interest.
Still, it's nicely written, has little to no plot holes, and doesn't reuse tropes left and right.
Animation - 8/10
- The world of Morbito is beautifully realized with beautiful scenery in almost every episode.
- The animations were smooth, fluid, and properly detailed.
- Some of the scenes would make for good wallpapers.
There's nothing bad to say about it. It's simply good, but not amazing, hence 8/10.
Music - 7/10
There are a lot of soundtracks in this anime that leave an impact such that they play in my mind at random times. This is how you know the music is good. Well, that and liking it of course. And I definitely liked it.
It's just that it doesn't have many of them. For instance, the same soundtrack is used at the end of nearly every episode and it's nice, but some variation would be nicer.
Characters - 7/10
There's actual character development in this anime, though it's still somewhat shallow. The characters themselves are mostly unique and very few tropes are used, if at all. To be honest, this was a breath of fresh air. A lot of the characters are rational and have reactions that you would expect to see in an otherwise healthy and level-headed human being.
Also, the backstory of balsama was written well and presented nicely. She's a character that earned her strength through actual skill rather than converting emotional energy into raw power like in most animes.
Overall - 7/10
If you're tired of overused tropes, stale dialogue, predictable "twists", and just want something that does the core things right, then Morbito is a good anime to watch. It's a breath of fresh air compared to the cookie-cutter spam.
To put it simply, Morbito was created with love and seems to have come from the heart rather than a selfish desire for fame or money; not that those are automatically bad things, but the majority of authors that work for those goals often forget to pour their love into the work, if they even have any.

A masterpiece, if:
- This is your first time seeing media of any kind
- You fell on your head as a baby
- Your brain is completely turned off, i.e. heavily intoxicated
I've watched both seasons. This anime is absolutely overrated and it's filled with overused tropes.
First, the world doesn't make any sense whatsoever. We are introduced to a supposed "war" between mecha-robots and mecha-pilots. The pilots are sent to battle to defend the homeland of the "superior" race. This is literally their only line of defense against the scary robits. So you'd think that the pilots would have at least some quality equipment or weapons of
...
some kind, right?
Nope. They use mechas that are rusting, falling apart, and poorly built and equipped. Every supposed battle incurs numerous causalities. Yes, they are cannon fodder, but the army of the robots essentially respawn infinitely. Based on this, the pilots would have been decimated within a few battles. There's simply not enough of them and unlike the robots, it takes time to produce a human, educate it, and finally train it to become a pilot.
Despite this gaping plot hole, we are supposed to believe that the city of the "superior" race has been able to withstand wave after wave of attacks.
Moreover, the main character of the show is supposed to be the lead pilot, the equivalent of an "insane" gamer in terms of skill. We are shown he can maneuver and attack like no one else. This would be fine, except the mecha he pilots literally cannot withstand his rapid moves. And we are even told this in one of the episodes where a mechanic scolds him for always being rough with his mecha and that it cannot handle it.
This is a major plot hole. No amount of skill can override mechanical wear and tear, especially not on mechas that are literally poorly built and fragile. The battlefield is unforgiving and ANY mistake, issue, problem, etc can result in death. For instance, if his mecha where to stop because a part came loose or something, he should be dead within seconds. And yet this somehow has never happened to this particular pilot, because he's "skilled".
What's more is there was a scene where he landed on top of a robot mecha and blew it up pointblank without his fragile mecha taking any damage, lol, lmao even.
Second, the characters have no unique qualities to them, not to mention there's essentially no character development. Also, the main character is the typical trope of being emotionless, cool-headed, and calm. He's just not interesting in any way.
There's really not much to say about the characters other than they are generic, predictable, and stale. They are abused and enslaved by the "superior" race and have ample opportunity to revolt and yet they choose not to. Why? Because something something honor. All the pilots seem to have the same core and moral values.
Honestly, this is the most overrated anime/show I have seen. It's extremely cringe that people call it a "masterpiece". I reckon it's due to the shallow parallels between this and WW2, with the "superior" race being the Aryans, and those pilots being the imprisoned people in the camps, who are akin to the soviets. Except it's completely different in every regard and can't be compared at all. So I have no idea what any of these "people" praising this unfounded trope are talking about, they're forcing a connection that does not exist.
It's likely this anime has been brigaded and positively review bombed. Literally nothing about this anime is any way even remotely close to being a "masterpiece".
Lastly, the:
- Music is awful
- Animation can be good at times but is otherwise average and even terrible sometimes
- Story is essentially non-existent
- World building is terrible
- Dialogue is mostly generic, not interesting, and adds almost nothing to the story
Overall a 4/10 and that's being generous.

I downloaded a special version of this anime that had the filler cut out and even that was still filled with flashbacks. Why? Because every other scene relies on it. Some of the scenes would not have made sense without the flashback. That said, I skipped most of them anyway. Honestly, the pacing can be so slow that I just completely lose interest and find myself not paying attention.
I'll just sum up my feelings here:
- The soundtracks are really good, especially some of the villains like Nagato and Madara.
- Animations are typically lackluster and dull
- There's little to no real character development
- A lot of
...
characters are very forced and just cringe
I have to rant about two characters that I really disliked: Sakura and Shikamaru.
Sakura is a one dimensional character who's only reason for existing is her insane, unjustified love for Sasuke. She's actually crazy in that regard. Sasuke couldn't care less for her and yet she doesn't take no for an answer. Also, she's mostly useless. Sure, at the end she gets some offensive 'power' but literally doesn't use it except for one time. But for the most part, she's unnecessary. The entire show could have gone on without her and it would have been the same, nay, better.
Shikamaru is literally one of the dumbest, weakest, and most plot-armored character in the show. I don't know what the author's obsession with him is but he's really cringe. He's given way too much attention. For one thing, he's supposed to be one of the smartest characters, coming up with "brilliant" strategies and yet his strategies are always simple. Not to mention it takes him a long time to even come up with them in the first place. Even Naruto has better strategies. There's one scene where he and his master are battling a villain, and the villain takes his time to draw a circle on the ground afterwhich he gains a power. Anyone with half a brain can see the circle is giving him his power and yet Shikamaru had to think about it before reaching that conclusion.
Another thing I hate about Shikamaru is that he's so arrogant. He self-appointed himself as Naruto's strategist, just lol.
Sasuke also becomes a really cringy character in the second half of the anime. His story was interesting prior to the reveal.
The story in general was good until the Pain Arc ended then it went downhill quickly.
Also, good god are there so many forced emotional scenes. Putting on sad music and having flashback after flashback isn't going to make anyone with half a brain get emotional, it's just dumb.
Moreover, the dialog is predictable and the justifications of most the character's actions is downright stupid. I hate the whole "friends" justification. That's Naruto's entire reasoning behind everything he does. "I won't let my friends die", "I'm going to save my friends". Just stop with this dumb friend thing, every other anime has stupid trope and I absolutely hate it.
Lastly, in every fight, Naruto's main strategy is: Shadow Clone Jutsu. This is literally the only thing he can do, aside from his beast power and that move he learned from his master. He can also use a summon jutsu but I think he only used it twice in the entire run of the anime and the first time being him learning it.
