Both series are about a dysfunctional male and female pair who were teamed up by fate to save the world and beat up bad guys in a post-apocalyptic future. Rumble Garanndoll is the more energetic and imaginative of the two, with more consistent animation quality.

A young man is swept up in a multi-faction war in a divided Japan, where he pilots a robot via VR interface. Both new-age original mecha series. AMAIM is distinctly less exciting than Rumble Garanndoll, however.

The theme of male and female mecha pilots learning teamwork is prominent in both, albeit much more well executed in Rumbl Garanndoll than Franxx.

Very similar in tone, with mecha anime meta-humor mixed with character and political drama.

Did you like the tripe that was DMWL? Damn will you love this series then!! Violence! Blood! Action! Humor! ACTION!! Fun characters that aren't annoying or whiney! All from the hands of the author who brought us Trigun! You can only find this translated on bookshelves though.

Same author, obviously. But aside from that, Blood Blockade Battlefront carries all of the frenetic action that you loved in Trigun Maximum, but pushes beyond the bounds you thought impregnable in terms of visual absurdity. Every page is Nightow having a field day with really fun and abstract settings, characters, and demon designs It's also got the good ol' Trigun sense of humor going for it. The Dark Horse releases are also far more legible than their translations of TriMax. You should get them!

Both series are interesting twists on robot toy competition shows, the twist is that they're awesome. They both rely on good writing and humor, along with just enough Super robot-esque glowing and attack yelling to be considerably badass. The soundtracks are kind of similar too.

Gad Guard is basically a deconstruction of the light hearted "boy with partner robot" genre that Medabots embraces.

Dai-Guard and Tiger&Bunny are shows about saving the world and doing the right thing, all while dealing with corporate red tape. The two series have a similar focus on the down-to-earth lives of the characters and share a similar sense of humor in regards to the absurdity of super robots/super heroes being introduced into a modern capitalist society.

Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin

Gungrave is very similar to Rainbow in terms of atmosphere and content. Both series feature incredibly bleak and almost nihilistic settings, where brutal violence and terrible circumstances directly impacts the lives of the main characters. However, both stories have the central theme of brotherhood and striving for a future of happiness in a world that works against it, shining a small ray of hope through the darkest parts of events occurring. You're guaranteed to become emotionally involved in the things happening in both of these stories, hoping that everyone gets what they want and the story has a happy ending, somehow.

By all means, this series is basically Chinese super-powered 1930's Ghost in the Shell. Most of the enjoyment comes from the intricate infiltration/action sequences, mature characters, political story and great music.

French animator Thomas Romain is one of the brains behind this series, and was also one of the four key people behind Oban Star Racers. Both share a unique not-so-Asian flare and really nice CGI mixed with traditional animation.
